Hi Ltrimnell, I'm new here too, about a week and a half since diagnosis. It's such a massive shock isn't it? Thanks everyone. I don't know how I feel about it all to be honest, at the moment keeping my breast means more to me than getting rid of the tumour which is ridiculous, but I think my brain is keeping the thought of there being a tumour in my body out as it's all too much to deal with. I think losing the nipple is more of a deal than everything else, both for looks and sensation. Are there people I can talk to about this at the hospital? Hi Kitkat, I'm a bit worried as the MRI was done just over a week ago and I said as I have a mirena coil that I don't really know when my period's due. But a few days after I had the scan I got a light period, so now I'm worried the results won't be as accurate as they could be. Hi Mimi, Not much further on than you, only just over a week since diagnosis. Massive shock, had convinced myself it was anything but, doctors gave nothing away when doing scans and biopsy. MRI 2 days after diagnosis but then over a week wait to next appointment, now finally coming up on Monday. They didn't say what type I have, only that it's stage 2, I assumed they didn't know. I'm 38 with 2 kids 7 and 9 so really not expecting it, plus my mum has advanced melanoma and my dad died in September 😞 it's not been a good few months. Keep coming on here and we can chat. I've held it together at work just about this week but fell apart this evening at home. Had Chinese, glass of wine and now bath 🙂 I've found the Headspace app really helpful by the way. xxx ... Hi everyone, My appointment is on Monday when I assume treatment will be discussed in detail. The surgeon mentioned a mastectomy so I'm assuming there's no option. Interesting reading about people not opting for reconstruction, food for thought definitely. The whole thing is still freaking me out at the moment though. I'm 38 so not sure if that means I feel differently about losing a boob?? What does anyone think and are there any other younger ladies on here? xx ... View more

Thanks Jo, that's so reassuring. I've had real head in the sand today, by contrast, and have had a pretty normal day at work. But then it hits me again and it's like finding out all over again. Also finding myself not telling people I don't know very well and feeling like I've got a dark secret. I will feel.mucj better when I know the plan. Hi Tropic_al, I think I'm similar to you - found out last Wednesday and been in shock since. Keep crying or staring into space. I have 2 kids 7 and 9 so trying to be strong for them but I'm so worried about what lies ahead. I've got an appointment on Monday when I hope to get more answers but the waiting is killing me. I went back to work today and managed most of the day but ended up nearly in tears in Tesco at lunchtime and cried all the way home after I left early ☹. You're not alone xxx ... View more
