Hello, not sure I can answer you properly but I had an MRI last year for diagnostic purposes with Gadolinium contrast. I felt really weird in the scan when the contrast went in but thought was just because I’d been lying still for so long. After I got dressed headed to the loo, looked in mirror and had about 4-5 itchy red spots (hives) across my face and neck. I went back to the unit and they said I’d had an allergic reaction  to the Gadolinium. I had to then wait in unit for an hour to check it didn’t get worse, thankfully not but was told to head home and take piriton  straight away. I saw tthe consultant radiographer and he said I’d never be able to have an MRI with Gadolinium again as reaction could be a lot worse but there were plenty of other options for diagnostic and other purposes, CT, PET etc.  Maybe worth discussing with your team best way forward for you as doesn’t sound like and more Gadolinium would be a good idea! best wishes ... Fibroid and tamoxifen

hello, I'm hoping to find others possibly in a similar situation for advice please. I have been taking tamoxifen for 4months and with relatively few problems. However I have started to get very heavy periods and lots of pain and pressure in my lower abdomen. I recently found out that on a CT scan Dec last year they found a sizeable fibroid in my uterus and a 2cm cyst on my ovary. Thus they were both there prior to tamoxifen. But I think the tamoxifen is now causing the worsening symptoms! i have just been to my GP who has ordered an urgent Ultrasound scan and voiced that she thinks the fibroid needs to come out as it's inside my uterus but that the US scan should be able to show more of the soft tissue than the CT scan to find out what's going on. She seemed to pass off the cyst issue even though during period and at ovulation stage of my cycle I get a very tender left side ( cyst is on left ovary) . The pain is fairly constant this month but I can manage it with ibuprofen, it's just making me feel very lethargic and tired. any information anyone can provide on fibroids and cysts gratefully welcomed, thank you jac x ... Hi Nic, thanks for your reply. The tumour marker test you had which ones was it for. No one has suggested this to me but from what I've read I may have had CA125 done way back at the initial bc diagnosis but was not reported to me. Have not had bloods taken since so not sure if I should be asking for this test from GP perhaps. you said one was raised did you have taken again to see if falling? Hello, I've just read this thread with interest. Please can you tell me what symptoms you experience with the cysts? I have been on Tamoxifen for 4 months and just found out that the CT scan I had back in December showed an ovarian cyst, 2 cm. so pre Tamoxifen treatment.  My oncologist said to take a wait and see approach. I have had pain in my left side mid cycle and heavier periods so was wondering at what point I maybe need to go back to someone and get it checked or as pain is manageable just get on with it! thank you for any advice jac x ...
