Hi Ladies, I started radiotherapy on the 27th Nov - 15 session (thankfully) with 4 already down. I finish on the 17th Dec. I got cream from the hospital - Aquamax. I’ve been applying 2/3 times a day. My left breast (my cancer side) has been a bit painful like electric shocks going through along with being a little bit swollen. I did ask the team at the hospital and they said that was normal after reconstruction but I’m seeing a doctor on Monday. I’ve also taken the advice of 2 litres of water - I’ve bought this huge 2.2 litre water bottle to keep me in track. Not feeling too bad at present. I also started taking Tamoxifen on Wednesday- just waiting for the dreaded side effects to kick in. 1 thing I have noticed is my wee is foamy (never had this before) - no sure if that’s normal. Hi Ladies, I’ve got my results tomorrow and so anxious about it. Not only am waiting to find out I have clear margins but i’ll also find out if I had cancer in my right breast - I got an MRI to establish the size of my lump in my left breast as it was reporting at 2 different sizes but the MRI also detected an abnormality in my right breast. I had a wire guided biopsy the same time as surgery and it was taken out - i’ll find out if it was cancer. Also i’ll get told if I need Chemo. I’ve been so upset and emotional today. I have been recovering really well in the past 2 weeks - I’m walking at least 3-4 miles a day. This has helped me no end. Sitting in plays havoc with my anxiety. Hi Ladies, Thank you all for your lovely comments. I’m doing really well, I was a little sick from the anaesthetic when I came round and did get kept in overnight on Wednesday. Good news is my lymph nodes were negative which I can’t tell you how happy I am about that. I came home with paracetamol and ibuprofen. I do take 2 paracetamols before bed but other than that everything is ok. Isn’t amazing how the body works!! On the day of my op I was remarkably calm, I just didn’t see the point of upsetting myself anymore. I seen my consultant (who has been amazing!) and she re-assured me of everything. She also asked for my permission for them to take pics of the op as it was complex and be wonderful for teaching - Obviously I was was happy to help. She said I could get a set sent out to have a look at but I kindly declined that offer 😷😷. I’m squeamish as the best of times 😂😂. 5 days post op and I’m feeling pretty good, apart from being extremely tired - been napping at least twice a day. I have managed a little trip into town for some lunch - we only went to Marks for a sandwich and a slice of cake but my goodness it was lovely! I go back on the 5th Oct to get my results - fingers crossed for clear margins. I’ll also get my treatment plan. Good luck to everyone going through surgery soon. Hi Ladies, My surgery is Wednesday and I too am terrified at the thought of general anaesthesia. I’ve never had any kind of operation before. Surgery has been a long time coming with other complications getting in the way but now I’ve only got 2 more sleeps 😩😩😩. Thankfully my mum is coming to stay with me for a few weeks so I’m not going to be on my own. As much as I want everything over and done with I still feel really scared, I have to stay positive and this time Thursday it will be all over and that’s what I have to focus on. Hi Ladies, Thought I would join this thread as I’m having surgery next Wednesday (21st). I’ve had such a long wait for surgery since getting diagnosed on Friday 20th July. I was originally meant to get an Lyumpectomy and a reduction on both breasts. On 8th August I went for an MRI and it presented an abnormality in my right breast. Very long story short as I have dence breasts the clip they inserted bounced back and no where near the little brut! I’m getting another MRI on Friday (14th - this will be my 3rd) for an MRI coil guided biopsy. Unfortunately the decision was made I will not get my right breast reduction at this time due to them not knowing what this thing is. It could take 6mnoths for symmetry.I’m heartbroken, I really don’t want to go through this again and also having one breast smaller than the other. I’m only 42 and like everyone else on here my world has been turned upside down. I’m really worried about surgery, the drains and how I’m going to feel emotionally after it. Xxxx I’m just sat waiting for my appointment with the consultant to see what my next steps are.....I just want to hear the words.....your surgery will be on *** it can’t be that hard....can it! I know they have to find out what that little thing is in my right breast but surly it can’t take this long! I don’t feel this is happening, like life has gone back to normal (whatever normal is!) I go to all these appointments, there’s lots of talking and sometimes there’s a scan involved but that’s it! Does it normally take this long? Hi Everyone, Well what a day I’ve had today...good news got my MRI..yayyy. Bad news....due to having very dence breasts, when they injected the clip it bounced back and ended up being no where near my little abnormality 😩😩😩. So 2 MRI injections, 3 mammogram, 2 ultrasound scan and 4 hours later.....I’m still no further forward. The doc did say they would be having a meeting to discuss next steps, one option would be to inject a wire into my breast to get a biopsy 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ I just want them to take it out, I can’t wait any longer. I was diagnosed 5 weeks ago and I’m still in the exact same place. I have no idea what’s happening. I was told I would get a call from BC nurses at the start of the week. I’m trying so hard to stay positive but it’s one thing after another. It started off promising with surgery date, pre op appointments everything to a stand still. I’m hoping they will just take it out during my surgery....problem solved...but I know it’s not as simple as that! I really can’t fault the NHS, everyone I have come across since starting my journey have been amazing and they truly deserve more recognition to what they get. Hi Ladies, Hope your all recovering well, drinking lots of tea and eating lots of cake 🍰 or chocolate 🍫 or both! I’ve come to a bit of a standstill with everything. I’m waiting for my MRI biopsy appointment for my right breast. If everything had gone to plan I would have had surgery today and out the other side. I just want it over with. I didn’t realise how emotionally draining it was, I’m exhausted all the time. I also had an appointment with the IVF councillor on Monday.. oh my goodness I sat and sobbed the whole hour. Hiii, Awww Caroline I hope your dressing is all sorted and your ok. How are you JWD after surgery? I got my MRI results back today....good news my lump is small than they thought -18 mm instead of 30mm and it’s still grade 1 👍🏼👍🏼. Bad news I have an abnormality in my right breast 8mm, I had another scan but they couldn’t see anything. I’ve now got to get an MRI guided clip inserted (I think that’s correct) and biopsy.
