Thank you so much - it really helps. i was looking at the Aveeno moisturiser as well. It is looking like chemo then radiotherapy for me as the Invasive ductal Breast cancer has gone to my lymph nodes and is trying to move out of there. i have an appointment with the oncologist on Tuesday morning then I have an appointment with the consultant surgeon in the afternoon so will hopefully know more then. how are you doing in your journey? What stage are you at in the overall process.

Hi everyone well today is 4 weeks since surgery and it has been confirmed that it has gone to my lymph nodes so I will be having chemo & radiotherapy once my wounds have healed. can anyone point me in the right direction regarding things like what body moisturiser would be advisable & recommended. also I have acrylic nails on at the moment- will I have to have them taken off? am I likely to be told to avoid certain foods & coffee? are there any precautions I need to take around animals (we have a cat). any suggestions to make life a little easier would be much appreciated

Hi Delly the mammoplasty was to take the tumour out and reconstruct the left breast at the same time, and while I was under the anaesthetic, they did a reduction in the right breast. its good to know that I am not the only one who didn’t feel strong emotions- it’s like when people say you are being so brave - I am not behaving this way to be brave - am just getting on with it as best as I can. i have to say that so far I don’t feel ill- I just get tired really easily. i see what you mean about hands and boobs - I even said to the surgeon when she was looking at what surgical options we had, if it means making it easier, I had already got n my mind that it could mean a full mastectomy so I was ready for that, well as much as I could be. The surgeon said the op went well and according to plan, and the only deviation from that was that when she took the tumour out, she “shaved” a bit more off to be on the safe side. keep fighting on !, love Lotuslil xxx

Good afternoon everyone And yes it is a good afternoon. Well I had therapeutic mammoplasty plus reduction on Friday 29th & am feeling remarkably well. Am not saying that I will continue to be that way but am feeling ok. i have a Pico7 dressing on and despite feeling like I have a tight band round my chest, the only issue I have still is the tiredness. Surgeon said the operation went well and pretty much according to plan. Had to take a bit more than thought but was happy how it went. The only thing is I still don’t know how I feel about it all - has anyone else experienced this? I keep thinking that after everything I should feel different - like I should have stronger feelings or emotions, but I don’t Your thoughts/opinions would be appreciated

Hiya so far they have said they think I can get away with radiotherapy as long as there are clear margins around the tumour (which I have named - b**tard !!). if there are not clear margins & it has spread to my lymph nodes then we will probably be looking at chemo as well. lynnette (lotuslil)

Hiya i go in for surgery on the 29th March also & I too have to go in the day before. as I understand it, it is a routine part of B C surgery so the surgeon knows whether they need to take them out during the operation the next day. My letter says that the time it takes to show in the scan can vary from person to person. Will be be thinking of you on 29th March from Exeter where I have my operation xxx

Hiya all just an update on the latest appointment in that I am booked in for surgery on 29th March & then will know more. They are talking that radiotherapy is likely unless it has spread to my lymph nodes which they do not believe it has. random questions keep popping into my head such as deodorant after lymph node samples & post surgery bras - bizarre!! Marks & Spencer do post surgery bras !! But what is the deal with deodorant? parents now know which was really tough It at least it is out in the open

Thank you very much - am getting slightly nervous ahead of the appointment but it is more anticipation than anxiety, as it will be another bit of definite info. since the diagnosis I have not had any tears, and then a song came on the radio at work which made me cry - bizarre!!

Oh bless you all - it means a lot. I had my MRI on Tuesday last week so at the clinical team meeting today they will go through the cases including mine ‘ decide the best treatment options and then I go again on Wednesday to find out. the thing I am dreading istellubg my parents as it is only 16 months since my mum lost her brother to pancreatic cancer & in the same week my dad’s sister passed away with age. But my brother knows & he will be there with me as my hubby is on shift & we have a 14 year old diabetic cat who rips the vet to shreds !!

Thank you so much. They believe it to be ductal but need the results of the MRI before we decide on the treatment options. Am relatively ok with it at the moment and we have started telling people at work & close friends but we want to tell family face to face xx

Hi everyone I realised about 3 weeks ago that something was wrong as my left nipple was becoming inverted. Went to doctors same week & a week later (last Monday 28th Jan) I saw the consultant who arranged an early mammogram (I am currently 47), an ultrasound and a biopsy. I was told by the consultant that it is more likely to be breast cancer than not, so I have an appointment on Tuesday 5th to get biopsy results, followed by an MRI to determine the extent. i don’t think it has hit me yet as I have had few tears, and no “why me” moments. My biggest worry is how do I tell my parents who have recently lost a sibling through pancreatic cancer. can anyone offer general advice & insight as to what will happen next & what timescales you have experienced thanking you all in advance
