Hi love , work have been great I will go back on a phased return ... I won’t be having chemo as my Oncotype score was low so wouldn’t be of any benefit for me so it’s the tamoxifen and zoladex , yes i think you’re right about pre menopausal women as it suppresses your ovaries and stops them working , just see how it all affects me now fingers crossed not many SE.. good luck with your journey 😘

Hello everyone just reading the replies to my original message - Alvilajo hope your doing ok my Oncotype results came back on both tumours 1 score was 18 and the other 7 . My oncologist therefore suggested chemo wouldn’t be of any benefit. My plan is to take tamoxifen which I’ve started taking a week ago fingers crossed no side effects as yet and also I will be receiving Monthly zoladex injections my first was given to me on Friday. So I’m in a waiting game for effects of this. Its been a 4 month rollercoaster I’ll never forget and hopefully I’m on the last bend before getting off xx I’m back to work in 2 weeks on a phased return and getting used to my prosthesis.. this forum has been a great help thank you for everyone’s support xx

Thank you for your reply . I will see how things go then , I’ve taken my first tamoxifen today so not expecting anything to drastically happen right away. I have my first zoladex injection next week and will ask more questions about this when I meet with my oncologist. Taking everything in small steps now after the whirlwind of the last 8 weeks thinking today wow what has just happened... im hoping side effects I will be able to cope with and move forward to normality again whatever that maybe xx

Hello everyone , my first post in this thread 7 weeks post left mastectomy , received Oncotype Dx scores today one score 7 and one score 18 so oncologist says chemo not beneficial... he has advised tamoxifen which I have now been prescribed and to start zoladex injections next week to surpress my ovaries.. I would welcome peoples experiences of side effects and what to expect. I’m conscious of weight gain any advice would be welcome thankyou xx

Feeling anxious tonight. After a full left mastectomy 6 weeks ago , no lymph involvement and positive outcome from surgery , my oncologist suggested an Oncotype DX test . After nearly 3 weeks of waiting tomorrow I go for my results. I’m going with an open mind ish expecting score to be over 25 and then get on with 6 sessions of chemo to blow anything left away. Therefore a score that’s lower is a bonus isn’t it? My oncologist was positive . I had 2 small 2cm grade 2 idc lumps and a 3rd area which was a Papuloma he suggested the test as belt and braces to check if chemo would be beneficial.... finally the wait will be over this has been the worst 3 weeks xxx

I’m having the same soreness under the arm . Breast incision seems fine but the steri strips under arm are now startinh to break and seems deeper wound, I have placed a sterile dressing over this area tonight . Not to bad but a little sore 7 days in fingers crossed xx

Thank you for your reply , I was brave and removed the dressing this morning and yes was dried blood but now feel a bit easier about it all . Nurse told me to wash as normal not scrub or rub and pat dry which is what I’ve done so hopefully all will keep going well thanks again x

Hi just wanted some advice. I had left full mastectomy on Thursday last week have been advised to take dressing off and leave steri strips on to fall off on there own with dissolvable stiches also. a small area has become loose and I can see dried blood on the steri strips is this normal ? I’m scared to take off the dressing and of infection. How do I clean the area best while strips still on to remove dried blood. I’ve been so lucky with no pain and inflammation up to now don’t want things to go wrong, any advice would be good. Thank you in advance x

I didn’t expect it but to be honest, feel better I came home . Bit sore but coping alright plenty of rest and people fussing me for a change. It feels a relief after the fast pace of the last 4 weeks now I just need to get my head round it all.

Well that was a whirlwind of a day . Theatre admission for 7am down to theatre for 10am. Left Mastectomy done due to 2 idc and 1 further query lump and SNB tested thankfully no further lymph nodes needed to be removed. in recovery for 1pm back on ward for 2. Home for 6 pm crikey I’m feeling ok today painkillers took and been looked after well, what a journey....

Hello new to this forum seen your post . I am due nuclear dept for injection tomorrow and op Thursday, still don’t know if I’m having double lumpectomy or mastectomy with sentinel node biopsy due to further concern last week after mri. I will find this out tomorrow but operation to go ahead Thursday whichever. I’ve been in a whirlwind for the last few weeks but ready to get this sorted. I agree the 2 week wait after to see what the plan is will be hard. But I’m staying positive as you should to. Good luck positive mind xx

Thanks for the reply I will look on the thread you have advised, to be honest I think everything’s just become real these last few days and I know it’s going to be a bit of a journey but staying positive and taking things a step at a time my main anxiety at the moment is the actual surgery procedure and the general anethestic as I have never had this and the fear is creeping up on me, deep breaths x

Hello everyone new to this forum , diagnosed recently , had my follow up appointment today after biopsy results told me I had 2 small idc lumps hormone sensitive approx 8mm and 12 mm in size , had a biopsy in lymph which showed clear. Had an mri last week to confirm if double lumpectomy possible results today show this is possible and they will also do sentinel node biopsy at same time. Operation booked for the 28th March . Have I made the right decision as they offered mastectomy as a possible option also but then went on to explain further that double lumpectomy should hopefully be enough. The information about the lymph node has kept me positive but now they explained about sentinel node procedure I’m scared that they will find something when I’m in surgery. I’m scared but positive. Consultant and BCN been really good. I’m 46 with a supportive husband and 2 gorgeous daughters aged 25 and 21 who have been amazing. Just wondering about other people’s experiences ? I have found this forum really helpful so far xx
