Hi they are talking about possible lipofilling and maybe surgery to release the nipple . I would rather they just fix the nipple, not so bothered about the filling but to be honest looking at the breast now as it is just really reminds me of what I’ve been through and I do want to get past that so maybe lipofilling will be a good option.   I really wanted to have my first mammogram before I considered further treatments but will see what they say at my appointment. I can see what your saying about having reconstruction I think  if I was in your shoes I would be thinking the same and you can have it further down the line if you choose to  you’re only young . I’m so sorry about the mastectomy, did they discuss reconstruction? I didn’t have a mastectomy but my nipple is so inverted after radiotherapy that my surgeon has referred me to the plastics team xxx ... View more

Hi gingerjo, loving the positivity I really feel it helps . I had same treatment you are expecting. Surgery was a doddle for me, I only had 1 lymph node taken so under arm was ok, some ladies find this the most painful , I was up and about the day after surgery all be a little tender for around a week . Radiotherapy didn’t effect me at the time but about a week after finishing I got the burning of skin just on my nipple which is inverted due to surgery , then it got infected but other than that I have found it all bearable. I have remained as positive as I can but did have some meltdowns , but gave myself a stern talking to and pulled up my big girl pants and carried on. Hi lbow82 thought I would just pop in and say hi. You’re at the really difficult time now with the waiting around and not knowing your treatment plan but honestly it gets easier when you know what your facing . With regards to the kids, I have 2 aged 14 and 8 so older than yours but I didn’t tell them anything until I’d had my lumpectomy and then only told my 14 yr old daughter that I had a lump and had it taken out and was waiting on wether I would need chemo or not. My 8 yr is still none the wiser , I chose not to tell him as I was up and about the next day and he didn’t notice anything. I had made the decision that if I needed chemo I would have to tell him something but luckily just radiotherapy and tamoxifen. I knew he wouldn’t understand as I didn’t look or act Ill . Everybody is different in their approach and you know your kids better than anybody so it has to be a personal choice. Happy to answer any questions if I can help. Hi just thought I’d pop in with some info. I’m in Liverpool and the hospital arranges transport for patients direct from home, you could maybe speak to McMillan or the hospital to see if it’s an option in your area. aww Mel it’s perfectly normal. I was diagnosed end of feb and although I have mostly positive days there are odd days I feel emotional, angry and bloody frustrated. The waiting is torture but I’m looking forward to a positive outcome and you will too. The suns coming out this weekend and I’m going to enjoy it. Hi Mel  welcome to the forum where I have found so much comfort and support. I am similar story to you, 46 yrs old , localised tumor . I have had my lumpectomy at the end of feb and was up and about the next day albeit a little tender. I’ve had a bit of a delay as my tumour was sent for an oncotype test as I was er+ her2 negative with no lymph nodes infected. Waited 2 weeks for the results and now just waiting on starting radiotherapy very soon along with tamoxifen. Once your treatment plan is sorted I found it got easier and less stressful. I’ve tried to keep my normal routine as I have 2 kids aged 7 and  14 .  Keep positive and even if you have a wobble you will pick yourself up . We are all here for each other. Big hugs nicky xx ... Hi mini mad , I’m so sorry you’ve had a reoccurrence that’s horrible. My onco score was 23 and I am er+ pr+ her2- . What score did you have if you don’t mind sharing? I’m really torn . I had a lumpectomy and 1 node removed which came back clear so its quite localised. I have 2 young kids aged 14 and 7 so also thinking about them. It’s just an awful situation to be in .  ... Well it’s my choice if I want chemo or not . Based on onco score 5% benefit from chemo . I am thinking I will go with radiotherapy and hormone tablets as the odds are in my favour but got until next Friday to decide so going to give it more thought .
