Hi Pink flamingo   My hair has just started falling out and I have an area of my scalp that is a bit sore, at hospital tomorrow for pre chemo tests so am going to ask about that. Have decided tomorrow is the day that my hair gets shaved off, think it’s going to hit hard but it’s not nice getting a handful of hair when you run your fingers through it! Hi, I’m 7 days after first round of FEC, feeling ok, have got thrush in my mouth, been given something by the GP, which I think has given me a nasty taste in my mouth as it was fine before. My last tummy injection tonight which my husband or son have been doing as I can’t face doing it to myself, they’re both pro’s now 😊 All my hair is still here which is a bonus, my main problem is boredom, can’t take my dogs out as I was advised that picking up dog 💩 wasn’t a good idea. I’ve had a few stomach cramps but spoke to the chemo nurse about this and I told her I was taking an anti sickness pill after my tummy injection as I felt sick the morning after my first one, she told me the anti sickness pills can give you stomach cramps and diahorrea, so have stopped taking those. Other than that felt generally crap for a few days but I think I’m coming out of it now and hopefully will be ok for the next couple of weeks before it all starts again 🙁 ... View more

I’ve been given metoclopramide hydrochloride tablets to take but I can’t remember when the nurse said to start taking them and I can’t get through to the ward to ask, I’m assuming I should start today? ... View more

Hi, just home from my first chemo (FEC), went ok, feel alright at the moment, only needed 1 sherbet lemon! Nearly passed out when they tried to put the cannula in, so probably feel a bit crappy from that. A different nurse came and put it in first time and hardly felt it 😊. Was expecting to feel a lot worse tbh, that might come eventually, took a bag full of stuff and didn’t use any of it, apart from the sherbet lemon! Came back with more than I went with though, steroids, anti sickness and injections to be put in my stomach and a ‘Tropic’ goody bag 😊   Good luck to those starting later this month 👍 ... View more

Hi, I start chemotherapy on Monday 2nd September, haven’t been thinking about it too much but am being quite practical. I ordered a ‘chemo kit’ off Cancer Support, I am going to go to the dentist this week and hopefully get an appointment, I’ve had about 6” cut off my hair, I’m going to sort a wig and headscarves this week, I’ve got hard boiled sweets and have ordered a thermometer and some soft toothbrush heads. I’m also having a ‘pre-chemo’ get together with a few friends and family tomorrow. Not sure if I’m in denial but I would imagine I won’t be feeling very ‘practical’ this time next week 🙁 ... Hi missie, just wondered how you’ve got on with your chemo, obviously this post is 3 weeks old and you were starting that week? i start mine on 2nd September and like you am terrified so thought I’d ask how your experience has been.
