Hi Bright. I too had a chemo burn. My first infusion burned and I let the nurse know. I told her twice. It wasn’t too bad and the infusion continued. A week later I noticed what seemed to be a bruise. Then it grew into the shape of an M on the top of my hand. Next infusion they took pictures of my hand to document it and said the chemo leaked out. Second infusion a different nurse did my IV and no problem. This last Tuesday for my third infusion a different nurse did the IV (first nurse asked her to do it and second nurse wasn’t there). So a third nurse did it and it burned the whole time to where I was in a lot of pain. She had the nerve to tell me “sometimes it’s in your head”. The original first nurse came back and pulled that IV out and started an new one. No pain after she changed it. Well, as of today (3 days post infusion) I’m all bruised where the last IV was given. Yes I agree it’s stressful, but I have a friend who is three months out of chemo (and cold capping) and she made a good point..we notice the missing hair, but others don’t. I’m willing to keep fighting!  ... View more

Hi vaneysha, I’ve done two rounds of TC and did the Penguin cold cap. I’d have to say my first three weeks were good and then come right before my second round of TC I had a lot of shedding. It was around day 21. I was told day 20-26 you have a large shedding. I’m still shedding (day 26 today), but praying it slows down. It’s actually been extremely stressful for me because I’m seeing so much shedding. I will continue to use the cold cap and stay positive as I know that if I wasn’t using it I would be bald by now and that was my one main fear. For me when I found out I had to do chemo the one thing I feared was losing my hair. I have a three year old and was diagnosed 3 months ago while still pregnant with my littlest one. My life is as flipped upside down! I want to try to make this whole journey as normal for my little ones as possible and to me that means mommy looking “the same”. I have two more rounds of TC so praying for a good outcome. Also, praying for the anxiety of all of this to decrease as well. Good luck and we are all in this battle together! ... View more

Thank you so much Jan X. I think I may express to my doctor about having a private room. The first time I got one because I was weaning off of breastfeeding and had to pump  (I just had a baby 3 months ago). This time they saw that all the cold capping my husband had to do in the middle of a already crowded room was a hassle and they moved us into a private room That did help with the anxiety. I may also need a daily rx to hell deal with a of this craziness. It’s a lot to deal with and to have a new baby adds to the mix. Again, thank you for your response.  ... View more
