My sister had a similar situation...it was hard to get over it, but we decided to do a hair transplant. Our Cassie is a real beauty, and it was difficult for her to endure all these trials and changes in her look. Her body didn't respond well to chemotherapy, as she had always been in poor health. We have already chosen a clinic for the transplant procedure, but we are in no rush. The main thing is that she comes out victorious in her fight. Now she needs strength to recover. I used the cold cap with great success but  I still had a few areas of thinning. Don't fuss with it because the roots are delicate and so respect that. When your treatment is over the thin spots fill in rapidly. ... View more

Hi Bright. I too had a chemo burn. My first infusion burned and I let the nurse know. I told her twice. It wasn’t too bad and the infusion continued. A week later I noticed what seemed to be a bruise. Then it grew into the shape of an M on the top of my hand. Next infusion they took pictures of my hand to document it and said the chemo leaked out. Second infusion a different nurse did my IV and no problem. This last Tuesday for my third infusion a different nurse did the IV (first nurse asked her to do it and second nurse wasn’t there). So a third nurse did it and it burned the whole time to where I was in a lot of pain. She had the nerve to tell me “sometimes it’s in your head”. The original first nurse came back and pulled that IV out and started an new one. No pain after she changed it. Well, as of today (3 days post infusion) I’m all bruised where the last IV was given. I’m over it. Glad I only have one more infusion, but man how hard can it be?  ... View more

Hi peeps, I have anxiety meds to take before each chemo. I don't know if it works but it helps to think I've tried something! In my first chemo I locked myself in the loo because I had a nasty nurse who abruptly told me I had bad veins that needed soaking ( I didn't know this meant a bowl of hot water!) When I came out some time later, I had the lovely ward sister looking after me and nasty nurse was nowhere to be seen. I've had four rounds now and it's become a little easier each time. ... Hi, It sounds like I'm a few weeks behind you.  I had my 1st of 4 AC treatments on 11/11 and will have my second on Monday, 11/25.  I'm not doing cold capping.  From everything I've read it sounded like alot of trouble and mostly unsuccessful.  I'm expecing my hair to start falling out next week.  I  also had shoulder length thick hair.  I chose to be proactive and got it cut short a couple of weeks ago to ease into it.  As if that is possible.  I did so well with the first treatment I'm worried about the next one kicking my butt.  So far I've only had mild headaches and mile nausia at times.  My biggest problem has been falling asleep.  It's great to hear what others are going through.  We've got this.   ...
