Hi Ollies41, that's quite a diagnosis, and a big area too. I'm now wondering 9f mine will be as straightforward when I do go to the surgeon, or have my surgery. We really don't know what's going on in our bodies at all do we? I thought DCIS was an easy fix, seems it's not always the case 🤔 😔

Hi, thanks for replying. I haven't heard of that before, and have still to see my surgeon which is in Monday. I've heard that quite often from ladies ingeoups. They go in to remove DCIS and find something else. It's quite a scary thought! I was told at my diagnosis I'd be getting 4 weeks of radiotherapy, so the surgeon may say something different to me. There's so much to find out, it's all very confusing and scary x

Hi Sam, sounds like you've got a bigger fight ahead, I'm only getting a small area removed, but you've got so much more. My full pathology report wasn't available at the breast clinic but the nurse knew I was getting an inch removed. I'll find out at the surgeon on 6th January, I've started to write questions so I can ask him. I hope your surgery goes well, and that you recover quickly from it. Sending love to you. Lynn xx

RoseRed thank you. I've thought about going to or calling Macmillan, I think after Christmas I will be seeking advice and guidance. Although I've got this guilt and feel a fraud for using such services because it's so early. Wrong I know. I've started a list for my surgeon, so hopefully get all the answers I need then. Hi Jill1998, that's for replying. I think different docs might tell us different things, it's a lot to do for something that isn't cancer, and I read that many people are over treated which seems scary, but what is the alternative? Definitely not worth thinking about. I need to write a list of questions for my surgeon when I see him. It's a quick process at least, well it seems to be because it's dealt with so quickly. I hope they don't find anything else during surgery, but the mammogram only showed the calcification, and am guessing the biopsy would have shown if it was worse?

Hi everyone. I was diagnosed last week with DCIS in my left breast, near my armpit, and have to have the area removed and 4 weeks of radiotherapy. I am a bit more shocked at the radiotherapy than the surgery. I feel a bit of a fraud because I know folk that have had breast cancer, and all the treatment that goes with it. I was told this so precancerous, but also read in the leaflet the centre gave me its early grade cancer. So, do I have cancer or not??? A question for my surgeon when I see him in a couple weeks. I see other folk have also had mastectomies with it. It's so scary, considering it's unclear as to what it actually is in terms of pre or graded cancer.

Hiya. I was diagnosed last week and they said at the screening centre it's precancerous, but gave me a leaflet saying it's early stage cancer. I've to have the area removed and then 4 weeks of radiotherapy, and feel a fraud because folk go through actual graded breast cancer. I have my surgeon on 6th January so will put it on my list of questions to ask. For now I'm calling it my non cancer How are you doing now?
