Hi Cookies4 Sorry you find yourself here and hope your treatment all goes well. I can totally empathise with the fairly calm feelings suddenly crashing, especially after giving the family the news. My kids are all in their ‘30s but telling them was truly the hardest and most awful thing I have done  In my life. Since then my mood has been up and down. I haven’t told many other people but each time I have what I am facing really hits home.  Like all of us you will have bad days and relatively good days. I have been focusing on things going on in my ‘normal’ life as much as I possibly can, discussing everyday life with family and exercising as much as possible. Whatever is your thing really to help your mood. I have surgery tomorrow and just want to get over & done with! Hi Bookish I had a nipple and skin sparing mastectomy 9 weeks ago with immediate implant reconstruction.  I'm not sure what information you're looking for but please ask away! Although still a bit swollen, I'm really pleased with the results. Apart from my new boob looking decidedly firmer and perkier than the other, it's a really good match and having your own nipple there is like seeing an old friend!  Sending hugs Susie x ... Best of luck to you both for tomorrow's operations. I so understand the feeling of actually looking forward to it - it does seem a strange thing to say and feel but the surgery moves you on in such a big and positive way. The way things are organised across the country seems to vary so much and everyone appears to have a slightly different experience. I feel so lucky that my hospital has a specialist Breast Unit which is headed up by my wonderful surgeon who specialises in cosmetic, oncoplastic and breast reconstructive surgery. I have seen him and my breast cancer nurse at every appointment and I've never seen anyone else, no oncologist or plastics surgeon. It's worked so well for me and they've always been very open, honest and detailed - good and bad.  Louise, you mentioned bras. I'm sure you're sorted now but I've been really around the block with this. I'm a standard 38B M&S. I ended up with 40C compression bras from Amoena - I had a 40C zip up post surgery bra from M&S which felt way too tight on the band post surgery and now are too baggy on the cups. The Amoena bras were beautifully soft and very adjustable as things changed - well worth the investment (my BCN gave me a discount code). I'm now finding my usual 38B bras tight on the band so I've gone for some band expanders - not prepared to invest in any more bras until things have completely settled down. Hi Susie Thanks for your message; I will try some of your suggestions! I’m going to message my GP tomorrow and ask for something a bit stronger than Replens. It’s settled down for now but I need something in case it flares up again. I’m also seeing my oncologist on Wednesday so I will mention it to him. Hi Jen Thats great news so pleased for you!  I know what you mean about chemo it’s frightening to even think about it but so many unfortunately have no choice but have to go that route and it all works out fine in the end I’m sure.   During the time of my results and now I had another scare thought there was a lump in my other breast so was referred back to breast clinic.  Was seen today and it was fine it was just fatty tissue thank god.  I also saw my lovely oncologist today she was brilliant. I am waiting for my planned session where they will give me the dates of when the radiotherapy will be think it might be end of July.  I’ve only got 5 days of radiotherapy and no booster sessions as she said my tumour was very small.   My scar is healing nicely and I don’t have much pain anymore which is great. i still think back to the day when I was diagnosed in March.  I was so numb with shock I feel it has been a bad dream and I’m just waking up.  My outlook on life has definitely changed.  I treasure the moments with my family and close friends who have been so fantastic throughout this whole journey.  And the nurses and people on this forum have so helped me in a very dark time of my life and I will always be grateful for that. Thank you that’s  good to know! having said that I was anxious waiting I’ve now received a call from the hospital this morning  to say they want to do pre  assessment for surgery as things are changing and I’m on list to have surgery.  I feel so nervous 😟 I know it’s good to get out I’m told by everyone then it’s the treatment plan.   ...
