I've been on Anastrazole for 6 months and met with oncologist last week and complained of stiff joints. She gave me a prescription for Exemestrane instead and told me take nothing for 6 weeks to clear it out of my system. I know it's only been a week but my joints are still as stiff as ever. Has anyone else switched AI's and how long did it take for joint pain to go? Was Exemestrane any better? Now wondering if I'm taking a risk staying off all drugs for 6 weeks and maybe should have tried taking Magnesium first. Glucosamine didn't do much for me.

For anyone interested in the answer: about 11 days. I suffered a small skin break on day 26 out of 33 and it was dressed with mepitex until Radiotherapy finished. My skin continued to break and blister until abut 10 days after despite using Flamazine and mepitex dressings daily. At that stage my underarm was completely bright red and was weeping all over. The area was about 6 inches square. By day 11 I noticed a few tiny pink spots of new skin and now day 14 after finishing there are only 2 areas still weeping (about a sq inch each) so its is slowly improving. However, my back which did not get a direct beam has now started to break up but not as bad as the underarm. At least I know it should be fairly healed before starting chemo in 2 weeks.

I've just finished 33 sessions of radiotherapy to my underarm and the skin started to break after 26. I used mepilex dressings for a week but the blisters only got worse so was prescribed Flamazine a week ago and used it at the weekend. I stopped Monday and Tuesday for the last 2 sessions and restarted again after. Every time I remove a dressing its soaked with green gunk. I was told its not infected but just wondering how long before the weeping stops? I'm using the Flamazine once a day and more often if dressing needs changing if too wet. Should I be using it more often? I was also given Nu-gel but not sure when to use that? I assume the Flamazine is better when its prescription only.

Thanks. I spoke to the nurse who said only once in 17 years has she seen a case of permanent hair loss so that helps too. I’ve to meet the oncologist again so I’ll compile my list of questions. I’m getting a high dose of radiotherapy now which leaves me prone to brachial Plexopathy in the future so need to make sure that whatever Chemo I get doesn’t increase the risk too.

I've a cancer recurrence 15 years after the first one. Last time I received AC x4. This time I've been told I will have TC x4 or 6. However on researching Taxotere I see the internet is full of legal cases suing the manufacturers because of permanent hair loss. Seems to be anywhere from 6% to 15% risk. It was suggested to use the cold cap to try and avoid this. Has anyone had TC and did your hair come back as normal afterwards or did anyone get an alternative.

15 years ago I had IDC in left breast @ age 33. Had mastectomy, axillary clearance, AC chemo and 5 years of tamoxifen. No nodes out of 11 affected at that time. I've just been diagnosed with a recurrence in my left armpit. 2cm hard lump came back with same ER+ HER2 neg after core biopsy. CT TAP and Bone scan have come back clear for any other site and I await a PET scan. The consultant has advised that I will need Chemo and possibly surgery. Just wondering what is the likely chemo (I has 4xAC the last time) or other treatment and if anyone else has had something similar. To complicate matters I have lymphoedema in the left arm for the last 3 years so surgery will likely make it worse. Thanks
