Hi Trojan,
I must admit the thought of biting the bullet and losing my hair was I think the hardest decision in all this so far, but must admit I got my hairdresser who is mobile to do it. Felt that in my own home and not facing a mirror was the best way to go . Have been told by my hairdresser that I have a beautiful shaped head not quite sure what good that does me but at least its nice to know! But can honestly say it really was not as bad as I thought and if it would just stop itching when I wear my wig I could cope but sure I will get used to it. I found it quite strange to think I had not been this bald for 59 years but it is strangely liberating not spending ages blow drying. Bite the bullet and good luck!

Wondering if anyone can help? I had second epi on oct 14th and had hair shaved to number 1 next day as starting to moult badly. The problem I have is that my wig looks really great but after few days of being able to wear it for about 3 hours a day now each time I put it on it feels like putting a bowl of ants on my head! I have a rash on front back and sides of head, have been back to wig shop and she suggested lining with silk which i have done but still feels as if every small ridge of webbing is out to get me. Am I just a megga wimp or has anyone else had this problem I suppose I do have sensitive skin {cant wear wool etc} but thought I was made of sterner stuff than this.

Thanks so much for your replies it is so good to know you are out there. Waiting for results on thurs getting twitchy but know that will not help the outcome but difficult to control sometimes. still only 2 more sleeps as I used to tell my kids!Have been doing excercises twice a day religiously.

I had mastectomy just over a week ago.I also have swelling but told it is called a dog ear and is where breast tissue meets back tissue. It feels very strange and as if my arm is resting on this lump.I also have numbness and tingling not comfortable but hope its all normal. hope your mum feels better soon.

I have never been on a forum before but here goes-
I was diagnosed 5 weeks ago and had mastectomy 1 week ago. I have to go for results next thursday 7th August. Does anyone else feel as if everything is surreal. Whilst i am getting better everyday I am all too aware the consultant can knock me back off my feet again. Also have weird pins and needles and numbness in armpit where they took lymph nodes is this normal.Is there anyone out there in same stage as me?
