Hi So pleased to have moved onto this board! I have my CT planning scan on Thursday and would appreciate any tips to make the process easier. I've got a painful shoulder after surgery and have been told that this is very common after treatment. I'm concerned as to whether I'll manage to maintain the position required for up to an hour. Also, as the cancer was in my left breast, I've been given breathing exercises to move the breast and heart away from each other. I'm finding holding my breath for the required 30 seconds tricky, I'm like a burst balloon afterwards lol. Apart from that I'm just peachy! Hi Slightly Lopsided Thank you so much for your reply, I will take time out to look at your earlier posts about DCIS, as it's hard to find people in the same boat. That said, I'm sorry you had to go through it too (((hugs))). On the positive side, I have a good idea how this type of surgery affects me and the expected recovery time for me, which is helpful. I have every faith in my lovely surgeon, I've just been unlucky. Speaking to the BCN nurse has basically confirmed that I've made the right decision for me, as she went through all the options open to me at this time. I wish you all the very best xx

Hi Chrissy Thank you so much for your reply. Here's hoping that they get it this time - if not just put in a zip and he done with it! I spoke to a lovely BCN nurse who ran through my options and we discussed the pros and cons of each type of surgery. I now feel empowered that I've made the right choice for me right now. I've been through a few different surgeries in the past, so the procedure itself doesn't phase me at all, we're all different, though, and I understand that, like me, you made the right choice for you. Consultant phoned a short while ago. They haven't got all the cancer, and I'm looking at a third round of surgery in as many months. I'm opting for a lumpectomy again, as I've got rather large breasts. If they don't get it this time, then there's the drastic option of mastectomy. Has anybody else been through this? Feel tearful and drained with it all...

Hi Tili and thanks for your reply The pain has died down a little, and the bleeding from my wound has stopped, so feeling a little less sorry for myself! Woke up in the wee small hours needing a coffee so here I am! I'll definitely try to get some TLC, and coffee with a friend tomorrow. Do you mind me asking where you are on your journey? Hi Tigress! I didn't get a copy of the report either, although I didn't ask for it. I've had to undergo a second round of surgery for DCIS on Tuesday, and was simply told that they didn't have enough of the clear margin the first time (December), and that they'd have to operate again. I hope that you manage to get some answers soon Take care Hammy xx

Hi, I'm Hammy! I've been diagnosed with DCIS, and have just had my second lot of surgery, as they didn't get it all initially. I bounced back from the first lot of surgery, however, I feel differently this time, as I'm in quite a lot of pain, and feel so, so, tired. My surgery was only 2 days ago, so I appreciate that it's still early days. I'd love to get to know others going through the same stuff, and look forward to getting to know you xx
