I have a thickening in my breast which, after two ultrasounds and a biopsy turns out to be totally benign. I have had this for 4/5 months now and the consultant said that it wont disappear in a hurry either. She did also stress that I should go back immediately if I felt anything different or any changes as you cant attribute it to the same thing without a proper examination. What I am trying to say is that although it is probably nothing to worry about and might even be the same issue as you had last time, you really should go back and get it checked out. Didnt you get a contact card after your biopsy? If not you could perhaps try calling the clinic and asking if a nurse could contact you? You wouldnt sound like a looney at all! Only two more sleeps. xx ... View more

Please call the BC nurses at the hospital. I am sure they would be able to help you to understand why they are doing the mamo. I am sure they would much rather spend time talking to you about it than have you worrying (probably unneccessarily). keep us posted, good luck. xxxxx ... View more

Is was great news, apparantly I have fibroadenomoid disease or something so she said (it was a fibroadenoma apparantly) and she said that it should just go away by itself over the next year or so and to go back straight away if anything else changed. So relieved obviously. Thank you, thank you and thank you again to everyone who has been on here being supportive. Call the breast care nurse in the morning and talk to them about it, that is what I would do in your circumstances. They may be able to answer some of your questions and help you feel better about it all. Let me know how you get on L xx ... View more

I know I was told the same. Go figure, perhaps the radiologist thought that it would be worthwhile? My Consultant asked the radiologist to see if it would be beneficial for me, but he said that it wouldnt as it was too dense (plus they did the biopsy based on the US this time so felt it would be unneccessary anyway. ... Will be on as soon as I can after I find out! They have all said that it is not in my head, even when the US was clear, but it is hard to not feel guilty. Given that, I am willing to bet they would rather give good news than bad, so things being well they will be looking forward to dealing with me lol. They do make you feel a bit of a nuisance though even when they can feel the problem too - I think she had decided what the problem was before examining me last time though and was surprised to find anything on the ultrasound - she was definately nicer the second time I went in to see her! Well I only have one more day to go until the consultant lets me know the results. I am back on "yeah it'll be normal" but (as I am sure everyone does!) have been worried sick! Who knows, I might have some more wobbles before the news! Trying really hard to be as positive as I can and for the most part I have managed it. Just hope this never happens again as I wouldnt know whether to go to the docs or not, I mean if this turns out to be "normal" then do I go to the GP with every new problem, or just leave it as it is probably all due to the same problem? Then if my breasts keep getting thicker/lumpy with a benign condition then how would I know if I had a more serious problem?
