Excellent. Good to hear some more success stories.
On the subject of eyebrows and eyelashes, I can say that mine started coming back quite soon afterwards (maybe 2-3 weeks?) but were quite itchy/spiky. I'm afraid I pulled out a few that were giving me grief so they took longer to look normal again than they ought to have...
BUT... and maybe this is something else I should celebrate... My underarm hair never came back... 🙂
Funny thing is it took several months to notice, hey, I still haven't got any... Now I think I can safely say underarm shaving is an activity of the past...
Re: operations... Happy to say that I managed to avoid the mastectomy due to chemo before op working well. Just have scars from lumpectomy and nodes and a bit of a dip.
Re: further treatment... None, due to being triple neg...
Just a bit on tenterhooks in case the mammo finds anything...
At this stage I have no idea whether I started menopause or not due to mini-pill suppressing monthly cycle anyway. Not sure whether it's worth finding out as it doesn't serve much purpose if I'm feeling OK (just got the menopause brain so far I think...LOL)

I have just passed my 2 yrs since being diagnosed. This does, of course, mean that I'm due a mammogram soon (next month) but I'm trying not to think too much about that.
These days I just pop onto this site every now and then and mostly I'm pleased to say it all feels like a distant and surreal memory. It is reassuring to know that the site's here in case, perish the thought, I or others need it again.
Two years on my main obsession is geocaching and most of my time/energy goes on that rather than dwelling on the past (better than housework too).
So who else has a cause for celebration and/or milestone happening that they're happy about?

I'm not sure but I think they did my whole body(?). I seem to recall I went in feet first, but then they actually started scanning at the head end and finished at my feet.
It's all a bit blurry now since it was a couple of years ago and I might be getting confused with the nuclear one.
Two things though:
- You really are best taking foam earplugs because wearing headphones when you're laying on one ear hurts (and the thing doesn't stay on, and it's loud)
- They really could use bigger booby holes in those things...

It's been nearly a month now. I keep finding myself checking her blog, sort of in the vain hope that it might not have been true and she might pop up with tales of her various exploits or bodily functions.
Though I met her just the once, at Southampton chemo clinic, I did look in on her blog every now to see what she'd been up to. I was particularly impressed by how she maintained her sense of humour, wrote an interesting blog and was always willing to help and advise others. I feel sure she didn't realise how much she'd be missed.
My condolences to her family and friends.

Hello all,
I haven't been on here much for a while. I finished chemo just over a year ago and radiotherapy 8 mths ago. I had WLE and node removal. I'm still in the clear (allegedly) and feeling fine.
One thing I've noticed is that when I get insect bites, wasp stings, nettle stings, scratched by vegetation, etc, the scabs seem to takes ages and ages to heal up. I'm not just talking about on my "bad" arm or where the radiotherapy was, but just wherever the problem occured. Has anyone else noticed this?
Unfortunately due to my new hobby (geocaching) this is sort of a bit like an "occupational hazard" so these sorts of things will continue to happen...

Finally got to see the doc. He says he's happy that the reason for the swelling is not cancer because that looks much different on the ultrasound. He said he's not concerned if they're swollen for a long period of time. It only counts what they look like in the snaps.
My next check up is in six months... GULP
Since planning a mid year mammo seems to have created a furore I have decided that it will be a mid year ultrasound, boob and armpit (private if they aren't offering one, which I assume they won't without a specific reason).

I've taken up Geocaching (see www.geocaching.com). It's a bit addictive... They are all over the place, in both cities and country. You need a basic GPS to get started (about 70 quid new but could get second hand on Ebay). My 3yo and 5yo like going hunting treasure and I find it gives me motivation to get out where I otherwise feel unenthused. Might need to watch the petrol bills if doing regularly though.

My hair used to be dead straight but I've been perming for years. Since chemo my hair's got a mind of it's own and I don't *dare* try to comb it other than where it's decided it's going that day... (which changes day to day...)

Hiya,
I'm 44 with a 3yo and a nearly 6yo. Both are special needs - one due to behavioural difficulties/violent and stroppy behavour at school just starting to go down the aspergers diagnosis route, the other with global developmental delays and having speech therapy, portage and OT (only speech therapy has started so far). They're not sure he'll have caught up by the time he goes to school next year.
I finished treatment earlier this year but am still waiting results of my first mammo/us. The person who did it said it looked OK but confirmed my "glands" were up. I knew this, but I am worried since they have been up for 6 or more weeks now (since I noticed).
I have spent nearly 2 hrs at the hospital today, waiting to see the consultant, but had to leave without seeing the doc so I could get to the school by 3...
I have just started to feel a bit more perky of late but could have done without an extra week of stress.
Truly hope you're not also in Southampton as those clinics are often really late.

Well, I'm back... and very angry indeed...
I've just waited almost 2 hrs for a 12:30 appointment and had to give up and come home for the school run without actually seeing a doctor. The Royal South Hants Wednesday clinics are a total joke. This is far from the first time they've done that to me.
So I'm in the dark until next Wednesday. At least my younger son will be away at his grandparents and I won't have the added strain of trying to entertain a 3yo in a waiting room for 2 hrs. To his credit though he was very well behaved this week.
And at least next weeks appointment is a couple of hours earlier, so *surely* I can get to see a real live doctor next time...

I was due to have my 3mthly check up this month but my armpit felt lumpy so I rang up and it got brought forward a month (though that still meant a 3 week wait for an appointment).
At the appt the cons was saying everything felt fine and I was probably feeling the top of my humerus. Since I was nearly due for my first post-treatment mammo he sent me off for that plus armpit u/s, which was last week.
Person who did u/s said I had 2 glands enlarged on the left (non bc side) but that they often go up and down due to infections and just take time. I don't have an infection to the best of my knowledge. She used the word glands not nodes so I was left to figure out that they were the same on the way home. While I was there she also did u/s of the right armpit (which wasn't on the schedule), but said she couldn't see anything bad on the mammos or u/s. I feel lumpy in the right armpit too now and I can't remember if she said she could see those up too or not.
I know from experience that they lie... I am fully expecting to go into the cons appt this Wednesday and be told that it's nothing to worry about but, hey, let's send you for a full body scan anyway... hohoho...
I can't stop feeling that it's not normal for the nodes to be enlarged for weeks on end and I believe it must now be 6-7 weeks since I first noticed the lumpiness.
Hope I'm just paranoid but can't help feeling this is the beginning of the end.

I finished chemo in Oct last year and rads in March and I'm still not right either. My stamina went right out the window (not that I was particularly well endowed with that before anyway).
I have recently taking up Geocaching as a reason for getting myself out in the fresh air and increasing my walking a bit. I've also introduced my 5yo to orienteering (on a walking basis) but we can only get to an event about once in 4-6 weeks due to OH being on call one third of the time...
Now if I could just get rid of the achiness in my arm so I can do (belated) spring cleaning...

Hiya,
Yup, I'm doing OK. Just a bit hectic working through the kids issues.
I've got my eldest son rescheduled for a grommit/adenoid op on 2 June and we're hoping he doesn't get another cold. Have also been to the paediatrician about his possible Aspergers. We haven't finished going through everything and will have another session to finish off, but he said we've got enough for it to go to the panel that says who goes on the assessment queue (which is over a year long... I won't hold my breath) in the meantime.
Then there's my younger son whose development and speech are about 6 mths delayed (probably due to me sitting in an armchair for so long) and he's on both speech therapy and portage queues. Speech therapy might only be a month or two away but they don't think portage will be until September (though they have been to the nursery to observe him).
Basically these places see you then put you on a waiting list so they don't stuff up their government targets...

Seems to be a big variation in price, but most seem under what I was thinking it might be. I don't have private medical cover.
I want to get private ones between the annual ones for the first couple of years to make them six-monthly, due to being triple neg (high chance of recurrence in first 2 years) and the speed in which the last lump grew. Think one year is too far apart. Told the consultant that when I saw him last month and he was fine with it. He said they could do the NHS one in July instead of October, so I'd be looking at a private one in January next year. Only hope I don't have trouble getting the NHS one in July 2009 due to having had a private one only 6 mths prior... otherwise I could end up paying for them all...
