Hi car and mole sorry no answers I too am having problems with drainage and infections. I had mx on 6th April had to stay in hospital until 16th when drains were finally taken out. but on their removal it was noted thatarea was infected, so first course of anti biotics, load of gunk comming out of drain wound and next day bad pains and swelling, was readmitted to ward on 17th iv anti biotics on morning of the 18th drain site erupted and with stuff going over bed, wall and floor. then followed 4 periods of asperations. before being went home with a different anti biotic. district nurse attended every day to change dressing and I had to "milk" gurggling wound site. then saw surgeon, who has no people skills and whom is not "good". who then decieded to reopen the wound. then came a week of daily packing of wound with gauze, at my last appointment he decieded to stop packing the wound and I am now left with a stoma bag over the wound that continues to collect all the nasties, at least this is water proof which means I can at least bath. I thought I was the only one this was happening too and it felt like a very lonely place. with all this happening I feel I have been unable to get on with adjusting to the loss of my breast and recovery, I am fortunate in that I had my chemo prior to surgery and my nodes were clear so proberly wont need rads. but I would really love to see an end to this. sorry to have gone on best wishes to all Sharon bas ... Hi all, oh what fun I have had, last night pressure pad bulging and dripping down my back I had to change, could not wait for Monday, today same thing, took sometime between changing dressing to apply pressure on top of wound and gently apply pressure underneath resulting in resulting in extracting a fair amount of fluid from drain site before padding back up a bit like milking a cow, needed another pair of hands though, unfortunately husband has chosen not to view the damage as yet so had to hold pads in place before calling him to help tape me up. but generally a fair day I have not eaten much just don't feel hungry, but have manage some wine and a beer. this is mainly because mother in law is staying and husband has managed to excuse himself for most of the day, therefore just her and me she ended up saying " Sharon I feel so lost amd dont know what i should do" I bit my lip and ended up taking her out for a walk. kids back to school tomorrow, my 11 year old has been avoiding me like the plaugue I expect it will be a relief for him, so I will be left with mother in law all day., I plan to sleep most of it if possible. Lisa I did not get my first Wig appointment until after I was bauld, which was not much use, however got two nice wigs which however I have never worn. my surgeon is crap and has not looked at my wounds or the extenive brusing at al, only saw bc three times in hospital and not expecting her to ring until Tuesday I am adding my complaints as I go andhope to express them on thurday's appointment. However for those for you awaiting op I have to say the lady in the bed next to me also had a mastectomy, although she had previously had lumpectomy and nodes reoved, we both had op on monday and she trotted home happily on the Thursay, so please dont feel disheartened. Hi too all ladies just posting to let you know I am still alive especiall to Lisa and susaaneA. well I went and done it. I am now offically lacking a mammary, a one tit wonder and walking lopsided. but unluckerly loads went wrong, dontt worry those awaiting ops I have been told that I have been particulary unforunate. If you remember my op was on the 6th April, after lots of morphine, therefore sickness, I thought I was begining to recover but a couple of hours later I deteriorated, they could not get a ready on my BP and then I went into cardiac distress, I had six people working on me at one time and this went on for six hours had to have two blood transfusions as well. well I felt better the next day, and by the third day had tried to get myself moving exericeas and all, however the bain of the drains, my bloody things were full sometimes twice a day, in the end they kept me in for 11 days and although they were still draining plaenty they took them out on thursday 16th only to find a load of pus, nice eh. surgeon gave me antibiotics and sent me home, had a fairly comfortable night however next day was in a lot of pain with area very swollen, went to gp's who sent me straight back to hospital, without going into to many details they kept me in and after various jabs and iv antibiotics an abscess burst in my drain wound covering the bed , I can not tell you of the relieve, they then went on to aspirate on three more separte occasions, they also found out my infection was not responsive to penisillin so got different antibiotics, chest area filled up again but i came home with a pressure dressing on, currently in doors with my chest sloshing about like a old water bottle but feel much better, worried with all this fliud I might be affect by the tides, any way got district nurse to look forward too on Monday. hope it is up hill from here. glad you are doing so well after chemo Lisa and hope you have sorted your head wear and enjoying your your spells away sorry to go on , but must be feeling better had a couple of glasses of wine tonight. Hi just dropping in quickly Joined the ranks of one tit wonders on monday, everything went wrong, that night my blood pressure dropped so low that it could not be registered and I went in to cardiac distress, ended up having two blood transfusions , 4 units,had two doctors working on my all night with so many tubes,very frightening Surgeon attended ward twice after no word of explanation or reassurence did not examin my only my drains before pronouncing I could not be discharged until next monday, I have managed to fill 12 drainage bottles and 5 days post op I am still draining 400mls per day oh joy, as well as drains and bloody scar were once was pert boob, my chest stomach and remaining boob are currantly black. I am able to post today because staff have taken pity on me and granted me 6 hours home leave, bloody state of the place I wish I had stayed at hospital, not only have I made my own dinner and done my own washing as well,happy to get that off my black, swollen chest hope to be home permently soon Sharon BAS ... Hi all just popped in and would like to comment on lots of posts but I am now very tired and somewhat pissed. Just wanted to say ta ra for a while as going into hospital tomorrow for mastectomy on monday so Wont be able to post for a while, wanted a special get together with family and friends to say goodbye to my tit but no one was intrested, husband was supposed to take topless photo to add to my menory box but he fell asleep on the sofa! feel a bit let down, but sh-t happens, hope to see post going when i come out. Jane try For one time to forget about the Cancer and deformed tit and go do your stuff dont need to mention anything unless it comes up, some one was right eariler that prehaps we are so much more critical and aware of imperfections than others. and I suppose we all want someone to appreciate us as a person, even pre bc, why would that change, you must have lots of really positive sides, work them girl Bloody hell The booze is doing it for me. just seen how lat it is better get myself to bed good luck all Sharon c ... Oui you lot where has sex and my name got linked, I miss hundreds of things, for me sex not one of them, I have too have a doze ater a shopping trip, if I had the strength I would use it to wash my smalls. but I do fully appreciate the lose those of you who not having a fulfilling sex life.
