Hi ladies - my appointment at breast clinic was on Thursday (after a 4 wk long roller coaster ride of emotions) I GOT THE ALL CLEAR Relived doesn't go anywhere to explaining how I feel - Can not believe how quick it all was - told in letter to be prepared to be in clinic for up to 5 hours but appointment 2.20 leaving hospital after mammogram, ultra sound and examination by doctor with all clear results at 3.30 - explanation probably hormonal. It does however raise the point as to why we some women are put through the torture and hell of waiting for results when my case proves that its possible to be done and dusted within an hour. Anyway hope my case throws a little glimmer of hope to all you ladies still waiting, my heart goes out to you all and good luck and best wishes for you all whatever stage of the journey you are on. I GOT THE ALL CLEAR - relief doesn't go anywhere to explain how I feel - after the possibility of a 9wk wait reduced to 4 wks I can not believe how quick it all was - 3 examinations - mammogram - ultra sound and by doctor - appointment at 2,20 leaving at 3.30 with all clear results. Explanation for pain lump felt by GP swelling etc put down to hormonal. It makes me wonder if I can have 3 examination and results within an hour why are they putting women through the agony of waiting sometimes weeks for results when my case proves that its possible to do them much quicker , do we not suffer enough without prolonging it. Thank you all so much for your support - Well yesterday was my appointment and I GOT THE ALL CLEAR! relieved doesn't even start to explain how I feel - Mammogram, ultra sound and examination by doctor = all clear - only explanation given was that it is possible hormonal. Today's the day - my appointment at breast clinic this afternoon - taking hubby he is the only one who knows what I have been going through as decided not to tell anyone else - and hopefully after today I can but it all down to experience and get of with my life. I have tried to convince myself they wont find anything but still terrified about the what if prospect.One stop breast clinic so should get results straight away. Hi hollymeg thanks for your reply - good to know there are people like you who understand exactly what its like - wavering now about telling boys - will have to lie to them as to where we are going (hubby coming with me) but it has to be done as need one of them to look after 5 yr old - I hate people lying to me and pride myself on never lying to them but think this time will have to so as to save worrying them until there is something for them to worry about - think that makes sense - it does in my head anyway - good luck with your treatment take care x ... hi Bella - had painful boob after period in nov but only lasted 4 days then same again Dec then jan and feb lasted about a week it was then I decided couldn't ignore it any longer as this was not normal for me and if it happened again in March would see doctor - well after period boob became painful again but was sons 5th birthday on 15th so decided to wait to see if it would go again when it didn't made appointment to see GP - appointment for next day - when GP examined me she found a lump which I was not aware of and referred me to breast clinic - got appointment but not until 13th May - meantime pain still persisting and getting worse to the point where I was almost in tears with it and one breast noticeably bigger than other - did go back to GP who promised to try and move appointment (now got appointment for 16th April - see above) - however swelling went down and pain disappeared for a few days but had lasted over 3 weeks - now some days just a little tender and swells slightly towards evening time and have had the odd day of nothing at all - and no other symptoms - so like you I'm hoping for the its only or its nothing go away result - are you in constant pain or does yours come and go? - take care x ... Hi all - update - went to GP for second time she said she would write and try to get appointment moved forward - as of yesterday had no news so took matters into my own hands - rang breast clinic and after explaining situation put through to specialist secretary who was brilliant she phoned surgery to chase up letter - although my appointment was 1st April letter only ready to post yesterday (obviously GP not as worried as me!) secretary phoned me back within 15 mins and told me when letter arrives at hospital she will make sure correct people see it with a view to moving appointment forward - couldn't thank her enough - it eventually seemed like someone was taking my worries seriously. However another twist to the tale - not sure if this is coincidence but got a phone call at 8.20 yesterday evening saying they were putting another clinic on next Thursday and did I want to move my appointment forward - I jumped at the chance - 1 stop breast clinic can be up to 5 hours but get results same day - but now have very mixed emotions relieved that its sooner, have read and re read statistics on bc and know that the possibility of it been bc are low but still worried over the what ifs and terrified at the same time. have not told any of the family (only hubby knows) and don't think I will - my way of coping I suppose - pretend its not happening and it might go away - good luck to everyone waiting for appointments and the same to all of you who are receiving treatment or waiting for results hope all goes well - take care X ... Up date -after phone calls to breast clinic and pestering doctor now got appointment for next Thursday - don't know how much of a coincidence it is but at 8.20 last night got phone call saying they were putting on an extra clinic and asking if I wanted appointment brought forward - jumped at the chance but very mixed emotions relived that its sooner but still worrying about the what ifs and terrified at the same time. Up dated decided today to fight my corner think its to long to wait until 13th May for my appointment so rang a breast cancer nurse on their advice rang breast clinic and was put through to specialist secretary - mentioned GP was writing to try and bring appointment forward but she said no sign of letter - she was brilliant rang my GP surgery to see what was going on and although my appointment was 1st April letter was only ready to be posted today - obviously my GP not as worried as me! - the specialists secretary rang me back within 15 mins and said when she received the letter would make sure that the correct people get to see it with the view to moving appointment forward and that she would keep me informed, I couldn't thank her enough. However another twist in the tale - this evening at 8.20 got a phone call from breast clinic to say they were putting on an extra clinic next Thursday and would I like to move my appointment forward. Don't know if this is coincidence or anything to do with calls but I'm so relived that I wont have to wait so long to know what if anything I'm dealing with - mixed emotions relive and terrified at the same time. ... HI -I'm also playing the waiting game so know what your going through - when I eventually get to the breast clinic I will have been waiting just over 9wks from first seeing my GP - not good far too long - I too have only told hubby about it as don't want to worry my family until I know what we are dealing with (hopefully nothing then they need never know) - its hard enough for us to cope and don't want to put my sons parents and sisters through any needless worry as there is nothing they can do if that makes sense. Hi Jan thanks for your reply - my first appointment I made with GP was on 16th March - she did not seem concerned about breast pain - at that point had it for about 2 weeks but on examination she found a lump so referred me to breast clinic - appointment came through but not until 13th MAY - yes IBC had been playing on my mind and as pain persisted and one breast bigger than other made app with GP saw her last wed (1st April) but as is sods law swelling had subsided (good sign I hope)and breast less painful. Re examined and GP said nothing had changed (in to which I read lump still there) - she was surprised how long until appointment so said would write to see if it could be moved forward although she said could not promise anything - over the last few days breast has now returned to normal size and no more pain (both good signs I hope) so at the moment I'm not as worried but playing the waiting game along with hundreds of others. (nb - IF MY APPOINTMENT IS NOT CHANGED IT WILL BE OVER 9 WEEKS FROM FIRST SEEING MY GP TO APPOINTMENT AT BREAST CLINIC - FAR TO LONG IN MY OPINION) ... View more

Thank you for your replies Theresa and Jackie - good to know there is someone out there who understands what I'm going through - will hang on a while and see if there is a letter in the post but if anything changes I will not hesitate to get back to GPs Hi Bella sorry your having problems too have you got an appointment and how long will you have to wait - beginning to feel that its pot luck and depends on where you live to how soon you get seen - I know that there are lots of people out there waiting for appointments and I wouldn't want to take the place of someone who needs the appointment more than me but I just want to get it sorted and the 9 weeks between first appointment and seeing someone at the breast clinic seems far too long a wait - hope you get seen soon take care x ... Update - saw GP yesterday and as is sods law by the time I got there breast swelling had gone down considerably and only a slight difference - she probably thinks I'm making it up and getting paranoid, pain also not as bad, in fact period started yesterday and today hardly any discomfort at all - hope these are good signs well Im telling myself they are. Doc examined me and said nothing has changed (into which I read lump still same size) - Mentioned inflammatory breast cancer to her and she fobbed me off by saying sorry she didn't know what I was talking about and wasn't aware of the term - I l didn't argue the point and sat there like an idiot - so mad at myself why do I find it so hard to talk about - She was however a little surprised when I told her appointment not until 13th May and said she thought I would be seen sooner - she said she would write to breast clinic and see if it was possible to move appointment forward BUT could not promise anything - so hey oh back playing the waiting game with loads of others.
