I do hope they manage to pull their finger out and sort out the pain issue. I also hope that you will be writing here for quite a bit longer. I have to thank you and the other ladies with secondaries who post on here, and on the other site, for telling it how it is. I for one need to know because if, or when, my time comes to develop secondaries I know that some of the info I am given will not necessarily be accurate. Hi Let them remove it to be on the safe side. My daughter was diagnosed with a fibradenoma 2 years ago. She was told she could either have it removed or live with it being monitored. She chose the latter. It grew and she had to have it removed. It was then discovered that it was a BENIGN phyllodes tumour and she had to have clear margins taken. Hi Irene Remeber me? I used to post similar timescale to yourself. I was diagnosed in June 2006, had mast, 8FEC and 17 Herceptin. Still here and doing fine. HER2+ is a more aggressive cancer but responds to herceptin which stops the cells from dividing, and evens up the score for survival for HER2-. does that make sense? Not too many side effects, feeling a bit fluey (under the weather) is common, affects hearts function so regular MUGA scans given to check, and I complained about my nails and hair. My daughter has just had surgery. 2 years ago she was dignosed with a fibroadenoma and was given the option of whether or not to have it reomved. She decided to live with it. It grew. She had it removed 4weeks ago and it turned out to be a benign Phyllodes tumour and had to have a WLE. If she had had it removed 2 years ago she would not have lost as much of her breast. I feel that anyone with a fibroadenoma should have it removed as they can be confused with Phyllodes, and the difference is not always obvious until it is sliced open. ... View more

Hi, I gave up on Femara after taking it for 2 weeks. The side effects were immediate and horrendous. I couldn't have existed for 5 years feeling like I did. That was in April 2007. Jane I'm sorry that the current treatment has stopped working. I hope that you manage to get through alot of the things on your to do list. Hi I had a Mastectomy/TRAM recon. I struggled to find bras as I was a bit uneven. Stil am a little bit as I've put weight on. I find Camille ones are good, they are supportive and go to good sizes. I feel mor comfortable in underwired ones. My hospital offers a service that sews pockets into ordinary bras. Perhaps your sister could consider making enquiries if you don't know anyone who's good with needle and thread. I get my bras from Boundary Mill shopping outlet, Colne, Lancashire. Hi I live in Burnley, and in 2006 Burnley and Blackburn didn't have a recon surgeon so I went to Chorley, under Mr Saidan. He did my mastecomy/ immediate TRAM recon. Hi Caro I only took Femara for 2 weeks and gave up because of awful side effects, the final straw being a bald patch appearing on my stubble and it thinning at one side. I was diagnosed in June 06, mast with TRAM recon, 8 FEC, 17 herceptin. I took Femara for 2 weeks and had the most horrible side effects so that was it as far as I was concerned. Finished Herceptin at end of March and since I started chemo in Oct 06 sex life has not been great (understatement). Lack of libido, painful. You know what it's like. Movicol is great. Comes in sachets and you add it to water. Doesn't taste bad bud it tastes slimey if that makes sense.. Got it from oncologist and then on prescription from GP. Works wonders. Marilyn x ... View more
