Hi All,
Thanks for your very usefull comments. I've started to put pen to paper as to what I want to say to HR. I'm not going to be confronational I'm going to state the facts and tell them how my treatment made me feel.
I realise I didn't do myself any favours by contiuing to work coz as far as they could see I was ok. I always went into work with a smile on my face and didn't moan about how I really felt, really I was pleased to be alive.
I needed to carry on working to try and keep some normality in my life otherwise I would have been at home on my own and would have totally immersed myself in cancer, I had no husband or partner to turn to.
I would like a sincere apology from the company for being arrogant in assuming I could continue to work as normal, for disrespecting me and for not caring.
This gripe with my company is the last part of my journey to regaining my life back after cancer, if that makes sense.

Thank you all for your replies. I'm feeling totally nervous with the situation, I want to say something so in the future anyone at work who is unfortunate to get cancer doesn't go through this. But on the other hand I don't want to in case, and I know they can't do this, find a way to get rid of me. I'm not strong enough to take on the company coz for sure they would have a good legal team behind them.
I read the material on the MacMillan site.
It's good to hear that you had good support from your workplace.
I'm going to obtain my 2010 appraisal to see what was written and get all my facts correct before I go any further. Then I've got to decide who I go to for help.

BC diagnosed April 2010 - surgery - chemo - radiotherapy.
Treatment finished January 2011. Worked through all my treatment but had 2 months off January to March 2011. Phased return to work reaching full time hours end of My 2011
I've just had my 2011 appraisal at work and they've downgraded me as I didn't reach all the objectives set. BTW the objectives were set while I was on sick leave. I'm peeved that they didn't take into account I hadn't worked a full year. I was set the same number of objectives as my colleagues who were fit and well.
Anyone else had problems like this in their workplace?

Result of first mammogram after treatment - clear.
Also my first grandchild expected in October is a boy. Not fussed what sex baby was but now I can go on a shopping spree and buy baby clothes other than white.

Hi
DX with BC April 2010, grade 3, TN, clear lymph nodes, had surgery, chemo and rads, finished treatment January this year.
Had first mammogram last week, getting results next Tuesday. How do doctors know it's not spread to any other part of the body from a mammogram?
Do women have a CT scan or a MRI scan, blood tests as a matter of course?
I'm concerned that if the result is NED next week it may not be correct.
Can someone help with this concern I have.

Hi All
DX April 2010, surgery Heatherwood, chemo King Edward, rads Mount Vernon. If only I'd known about you all last year, would have been great, gets quite difficult when no one you know understands what you're going through. Out the end now and feel great.
Had my first mammo after treatment last Monday, going back for results in a weeks time.
If anyone would like to meet would love to come along even though treatment for me has finished.

I'd just like to share a memorable day with you. A year ago today I was diagnosed with BC. The year brought me surgery, FEC-T and radiotherapy which finished January, I feel I got through it all really well and have recovered almost fully. I have my first mammogram 9 May which hopefully will return a favourable outcome.
I'd like to ask how did you feel approaching your first mammogram after treatment?

Hi
I finished my rads begining of January and have continued to use Aqueous cream firstly for 4 weeks, 3 times a day after finishing rads, now I use it twice a day as a matter of course.
I use Aqueous cream for washing as well as moisturising which has left my skin moisturised, soft and supple, I also use it on my face and body twice a day, it's wonderfull much better than the expensive beauty products I've used in the past.

I like to ask a question about hair growth.
I finished chemo end of November, my hair, eyebrows and eyelashes are growing back but not as thick as before.
My hair growth is between half and two inches long but not as thick on top as before and has much more grey. Eyebrows and eyelashes are also not as thick.
Has this happened to anyone else at the begining of re-growth, is it likely to stay like this or is there any hope for more to arrive at a later stage?
I'm going to promise my eyelashes that if they grow nicely I'll not go out of the house until they've been dressed up with mascara. Afraid in recent years I haven't bothered but I will now!!!

Hi, I finished rads 3 weeks ago, I had no idea that the last 3 were boosters until the day of the first one, it was explained to me then that these last 3 concentrated on the spot where the tumour was. I had thought my skin was coping well, boy did I get a shock a week after. Now three weeks on the soreness has stopped, redness is still quite prenounced and my skin is now peeling. I had no idea all of this was going to happen.
I continue to use the Aqueous cream and shall do untill all my skin has peeled and probably longer to help the new skin underneath.
I hated having the rads, most of the time I had young men giving the treatment, with my arms in the rests exposing myself made me feel so vulnerable. Sometimes they forgot to cover my dignity.
Over with now though.

Going for my daily walk in the sunshine which is therapy for my poor legs and toes that have taken the brunt of chemo. Each day they feel a tad stronger.
Stepping on the Wii Fit and finding that I've lost a bit of weight.

I just want to post that all my treatment finished today, and it feels like a cloud has lifted. I'm looking forward to getting my life back.
I went to the MacMillan centre at Mount Vernon after, had a cup of tea, a great big hug, shed a few tears and a chat about moving on.
Thank goodness for a place like that to be able to go to.
On my way home I got myself 2 big bunches of flowers and now happily sharing a chair with my darling kitty.
A great big hug to all you ladies on this site.

lying on a hard couch, arms in rests, not really wanting to expose my breasts, feeling vulnerable.
the house in a complete mess.
not being able to move around as well as I want to.
being bald, no eyebrows, no eyelashes.

What a great thread.
I have found BC has made me revaluate my life which I really needed to do, I've discovered so many caring friends.
My two sons and daughter-in-law have been the best, the rest of my family so supportive. I've never had to go chemo sessions on my own as family and friends have insisted I don't go alone.
I was so stressed out at work with to much work being loaded on, that has now taken a back burner and with chilling rather than stressing I have become more productive. I have been able to continue working from home because I've sailed through chemo with few problems. Lucky me.
Only downside is that my daughter(30) has not been able to cope with this too well, so badly that she hasn't spoken to me for a couple of months. That does distress me. She will recover from this I'm sure when it's all over and done with.
Even my hair has begun to grow back before my TAX have finished, for some reason though it's growing back silver, nice colour but not what I'm used to.
