I think it lifts the nations spirits in the current economic climate.
The UK spends millions on war, the NHS suffers because of this. I personally will be watching tv and hoping that William and Kate will have a long and happy life together. Diana is still with us through her son.

Just got my appointment through for the Fracture Clinic this Friday so I'm going to ask if I can have a wheelchair for going out and for use in my home (I have a bungalow with lots of space to get about) as my arm is feeling worse every time I use the crutches. I also suffer from cervical spondylosis, so have very poor upper body strength anyhow. I spoke to my ld nurse, she just told me to ring British red cross to see if they had any for hire. I rang them and they have none at the moment.Thanks for getting back to me, fingers crossed the fracture clinic will sort me out on friday.

Just broke my foot over the weekend and have been told I have to wear my plaster cast for up to 6-8 weeks (its up to my knee). The A&E nurse has given me crutches to use as I can't put any weight on the damaged foot, so I have to hop everywhere. The problem is I have lymphoedema in my left arm and it has become very achy. Should I ask for a wheelchair or does anyone know if walking frames may be better than crutches. I'm 53 but feel 83 and very frustrated! x

I too have just reached the 3 year mark in September. I have more dark days now than I did when first diagnosed and undergoing treatment. I feel my safetynet has gone and every little ache and pain makes me think the worst. I can't speak to my family about it because I don't want to them to worry about me. I'm triple negative so I hope if and when I reach the 5 year mark I'll feel more positive.

I first found a painful lump in my armpit after a long car journey. The lump was rubbing against my seatbelt. The morning after it was still aching and as I rubbed the area I noticed a second lump in my breast. I went to my Gp the next week. He didnt think there was anything sinister but referred me just in case. I was diagnosed Sep 2007 with a 2cm triple negative tumour. The lump in the armpit was a cancerous lymph node. Lumpectomy, Chemo and rads followed. Most GP's say that if there is pain it is unlikely to be cancer, although many do experience pain. I was 49 at the time. My GP said don't worry I'm sure you'll come out of the Breast clinic smiling! How wrong could he have been.

As I understand it, the gene ABCC11 is already linked to Breast Cancer as are the BRAC genes and it is the variation of the gene that causes these unpleasant side effects according to the research paper.

Just read the following article published this week http://www.webmd.com/breast-cancer/news/20090605/ear-wax-body-odor-breast-cancer-link. Apparently a link between an abnormal gene called ABCC11 and Breast Cancer has been found that causes these symptoms.
I had my ears syringed on numerous occasions in the couple of years prior to diagnosis as I produced massive amounts of ear wax and also suffered from very smelly armpits which no amount of deodorant would shift. I had a lumpectomy and am now wondering if I should have had a full mastectomy to stop the cancer from recurring if it may have been caused by a faulty gene. Has anyone else had these symptoms before diagnosis?

Yes.
I have had a tooth abcess, two teeth removed two new crowns and several new fillings in the last 6 months. Finished chemo/rads in May 2008. My dentist confirmed that all my problems were due to chemo.
I think we should have free dental treatment for 12 months after treatment has finished.

I too am triple negative and had 3 FEC (awful side effects) and 3 TAX that I found OK compared to many ladies. I finished my radiotherapy in May and have just had my annual mammogram and am waiting for results (scary time). Being triple negative though, I now feel I have no safetynet as unable to have tamoxifen. Crossing fingers that I will be OK. Going on a med cruise with Royal Caribbean tomorrow with my teenage son and wonderful Mum who looked after me during my worst times. It makes you want to live life to the full while you can.

Just finished radiotherapy a few weeks ago after 2 ops and chemo. Decided to go on a cruise and be pampered but the cost of travel insurance seems to be quite high. Has anyone any recommendations? I'm taking my Mum with me, she has been my rock throughout the last 9 months although she has also just recovered from bowel cancer 18 months ago, so we are both I suppose high risk.

Just thought I would bring this thread up, as I too am wondering when it is safe to colour your hair after chemo. I finished chemo 7th Feb and just finished rads 13th May. My hair is now about 2 inch long and a rather dull grey/silver. Was thinking of going blond like Annie Lennox! Any advice would be most welcome.
