I only met Debs through the forums too and she gave me so much support and wrote such lovely words when Lisa, my daughter, died. A lovely lady. RIP Debs. Its wonderful that this site gives us a chance to remember the lovely people who fought with such bravery but lost their battles. Hi Pauline I will sort out how to PM you in a mo. I left a message on Current Issues to say that I have my daughter's 3 wigs and lots of baker boy caps that you may be interested in for the shop. Thanks for that Jo. Apart from sciatica I am keeping well ... the dogs are keeping me busy. I have to keep busy. Just had the horrid job of sorting the rest of Lisa's things out as Simon wants to go travelling in the Autumn and wanted to sort the house out before he went. It still feels as if Lisa is going to walk in at any minute and certainly doesn't feel like 2 years ago since we last saw her. Still thats a good thing as Lisa is still very much a part of our lives and always will be. She was such a bright, sparkly person as I know many of the wonderful women on here are. Hi Belinda . thanks for saying Hello. I still come and have a peek now and again and catch up with you all. So sad that many have now gone. Hopefully having a big party somewhere without us! Have just been sorting some things out of Lisa's that we couldn't face before. Its a case of taking a deep breath and getting on with it. Seems such a shame that these lovely wigs and caps are just sitting there in boxes when someone may be pleased with them. I have re done this with a different heading .... I don't know really where to post this so if this is the wrong place then maybe the moderator can change it. Some of you may remember me from when my daughter Lisa died in 2008 aged 34. The thing is I have 3 wigs hardly worn that I would like to give away. Lisa only really wore the wigs on the rare occasion that she went out for the evening, otherwise she wore lots of baker boy caps.. she was well known for her caps! Two of the wigs were expensive ones .. one in shorter bobbed type style and the other a slightly longer layered look. The other one is a short layered style. All lovely wigs that she kept cleaned. I am sure I saw on here a while back that someone was asking for wigs and head coverings. If someone would like them I would send the caps too. I will make sure they are all washed and cleaned. I am only keeping one cap in memory. Hope that someone can find use for them all as it can be expensive finding head coverings. Love Sue x ... View more

Hi Rita I am sure there are lots of people on here that will never forget Jane. I lost my daughter to breast cancer on June 10th 2008 .. I can't believe its 2 years now since I last saw my beuatiful girl, it still feels like a few days ago. I will never forget the support and advice that Jane gave us both before and after Lisa died. I can't help with your question but I would certainly like to read more from her. Only just seen your thread. My daughter aged 33 had mastectomy with LD flap. She was so pleased with it, no pain at all which was a surprise .. just the drains were a nuisance and uncomfortable but not for long. She said that she never felt that she had lost a breast because the one with LD flap looked so good. The only sign of it was the white nipple. We always told her she could be a tassle dancer and no one would ever know! She had it done late November and wore a lowish cut top on New Years Eve to show off that she still had two breasts. She was told it was important to wear good support for a while afterwards though and bought two support bras through the hospital. Hope this helps Sue ... View more

Just to say how sorry and sad I feel that Debs has died. She was so kind and so helpful writing to me when my daughter Lisa was fighting her immense battle with brain mets and then Debs chose just the right words when Lisa died. This site will miss Debs greatly. I am also so sorry that it was just before Christmas. Its a very dificult time anyway when you have lost someone who you love so much. Thank you for posting .. it does help to talk or write about it though as I well know. Keep on talking about her. Bless you all and I will be thinking about you over the next few difficult weeks. So young ... so sad. At least she was with her family in NZ. So many young women dying from this awful disease. My daughter was 34 when she died in 2008. It should have been me or at least someone my age not young women with children and so many years in front of them. I just hope and pray that they get to the cause of these young deaths. It all happens so quickly too ..my daughter had 13months only from diagnosis. My heart goes out to her family. Seems even worse this time of year. That message is so Jane. A wonderful message to young women many of whom will get through this desease as Jane says and will be able to talk to their Grandchildren about it. Far too many women still die from this disease whether its 34 as my daughter was or whether its someone in their 60s, which is still far too young, but I am sure that will change in the future. Hopefully not too far into the future. I will raise a glass to Jane on Monday 14th Dec. She will never be forgotten by the people on this site. Hi Kate My daughter had Whole brian radiotherapy and she said that its not as scary as it sounds. Like the other rads that she had you feel nothing and she was only in the machine for about 45 seconds to a minute each time. You have to wear a mask which again sounds scary but it isn't. Unfortunately yes you do lose your hair after about two weeks I think it was.. but everyone I know who has had WBR has had hair their grow back. I think it must be an exception if it doesn't. I am so sorry to hear that the cancer went to your brain but it does sound optimistic that they managed to remove it. The WBR will be as a precaution and will zap anything else in tehre! I remember Lara C too. She was the same age as my daugher who died just 9 months after your wife. When I told my Dr that I felt as if I had been robbed, he said thats excatly what had happened. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us all. Lisa's fiance and I both know what you have been through and I guess will always go through. Dear Tommy I am so sorry to hear about Angie. I have only just caught up with this thread. She and I used to write to one another a lot last year when my daughter Lisa suddenly developed 2 brain tumours after doing so well. She died last June and it seems in exactly the same way as Angie. We (Lisa's fiance and myself) know exactly what you have been through and what you have to face now. A year ago we were in the same place. Simon too held Lisa until her last breath. Unfortunately they didn't get the chance to get married before she died ..we always believed she would improve and then the wedding would have taken place. My heart goes out to you and Angies family and I have tears in my eyes as I write to you ... keep as strong as you can ... and it won't be long before the bad moments of the last days fade and the good memories come through. Thank you so much everyone. As always you all find the right words to say. I am really touched that so may of you still remember Lisa even though you have your own battles to fight. I still follow all of you through this site .. mostly silently these days but I still read about you all and wish you all the breakthrough that has surely got to come soon. So sad to see the loss of some of the lovely people who used to write to me ... I so hope they are all gathered around somewhere with Lisa discussing us!
