Hi all... ....how far are you guys on with diagnosis? I was diagnosed with primary in 2005 when I was 27 and got secondaries in 2015 in my spine....after a back operation I'm on zoladex, letrosole and denosumab and am doing okay.... not met any other woman with secondaries and feeling at a stage now in which I want to talk to others... looking forward to meeting you all for a natter.   Katey x ... Hello all, Just thought I would leave a quick post. I'm Katey and was diagnosed in 2005 at the age of 27. I had a mastectomy, ivf, chemo, zoladex & tamoxifen. I came off Zoladex in March last year after 2 1/2 years on it. I got my periods back in December!!! Woo hoo! I am looking positively into the future and hope one day to start a family. I know plenty of women who have gone on to have children after breast cancer so there is some hope. Stay strong... Katey x ... View more

Hello all... ...just wanted to leave a quick post. I was diagnosed in 2005 when I was 27. Yes what a rollercoaster ride but with each year I just keep feeling better and better. I had a mastectomy, ivf, chemo, implant reconstruction and am now on zoladex and tamoxifen...I now grab life by the balls and have as much fun as possible. Chema is a scarey thing...I think it was the thing that I feared the most...the thought of losing my hair upset me more than losing a breast..I have long, black waist length hair... ...anyway the cold cap worked for me...it can be a bit touch and go but it might be worth a try...I didn't lose any hair on my head...just all body hair ...try and keep positive.... sending you a big hug xxx katey ... Hello ladies! I'm from Lincolnshire but live in Sheffield where I have been having treatment. I was 27 when I was diagnosed 2 years ago. All I can say is take each day as it comes...you will get there slowly but surely. I can't recommend BCC's younger womens forum enough as it really helped me get through a rough patch. Sheffield Hi Beryl, I'm half way through delayed reconstruction after mastectomy and I'm under Prof Reed at the Hallamshire. Hi Carla Just wanted to post to let you know about delayed reconstruction. I had a mastectomy August '05 and in January this year had a tissue expander put in. This has over the weeks been 'pumped up' with saline and now I am just waiting for it to be swapped with an implant. I feel so much better now I have a little bump and can get rid of my prothesis. Frozen embroyos Hi there... I was diagnosed at 27 and after my mastectomy I successfully frozen 6 embroyos. I think it is good to have a back up plan just in case chemo harms your fertility. I do feel alot better knowing I have them and the whole process of ivf was weird, but I felt like I was doing something positve to help myself so it gave me a good feeling. Woop! Just wanted to say hi!...in response to Lisa, of course I don´t mind you asking - ask anything you want! My consultant / surgeon is also carrying out my reconstruction. As I´m only half way through at the minute I can´t really let you know how it looks yet. I have disscussed about just doing one side, and the tissues expander side is just slightly larger than my natural breast at the mo and I am really happy with the way it looks. After spending a year researching and a bit of soul serching about reconstruction I have decided 100% for the implant only on both sides. Being honest I have always wanted slightly bigger boobs and now is my chance. Also, after the tissue expander has been put in I have noticed that when I lie down my natural side flattens and the expander doesn´t. I do find myself comparing them all the time...kind of before and after. From the pictures I have seen implants can look quite good...and I can´t wait to get the other one in to even me out a bit. Another thing I was worried about was having mammograms, but have been told this should not make it that much more diffucult. They only have to make a small cut to get the implant in so I´m not too worried about a small scar. Since starting with this whole reconstruction process I feel a million times better. I have more confidence and just feel better about myself. I wasn´t aware what a big impact it would have on me. I will let you know how it looks when the other side is done.
