Hello, we're clearing up after the storms, no damage thank goodness but the mud is quite horrible - everywhere. Dogs bring it in, cats bring it in, thank goodness we don't have the goats and llamas in the house too .....! I think him indoors would have them in though. ha ha I'm in the "don't know what to do with myself" mode at the moment, we're off ski-ing 28th for a week then it's into hospital for the ovary removal.......eeek At least I feel okay, that's something. Hello, this part of SW France took a battering mid Jan, last night we had a hail storm that battered our north facing bedroom window, which was a pain.......but apart from that, it has been quite mild and some nice sunny days. Hi there, just jumped on this thread in the hope someone can answer me some questions. I've just seen the surgeon and Im booked in for an op on 10th to remove the left ovary, laporoscopy. However, I've had one of these and it went wrong so have told him this. He is going to go and have a look with a camera, if its save!? he is going to remove the ovary and if not he's going to open me up. After which I am assuming they test it, if it's "bad" he says he will have to open me up again, remove the other one and other things....lymph nodes in my stomach/chest. Anyone had this? Forgot to ask..... if for any horrible reason the left ovary - which is the one with the cyst and showing up almost bright red on the PET scan, is diseased with cancer, what happens next? Chemo? Rads? All looking negative I know, but I always think the worst then it can't possibly be. Cheers K ... View more

Thanks for your comments. It went okay once the "cleaner" managed to get the drip in - 4 x and then called a doctor...I'd taken some calmers and then they gave me something under my tongue, so once that was in and I put in the wax ear plugs, they gave me ear defenders and the noise wasn't too bad, and I was on my back. I didn't realise they had to squirt you in both orifices...!! and that was very unpleasant afterwards, like I'd wet myself, so couldn't wait to get home. I saw the Onc straight after and he showed me the PET, there is def. something on the left ovary, I've got an appt with the surgeon on Tuesday to talk about looking/taking it out. Watch this space. mine, well one of them, ca125, has gone from 22 to 179, the others seem to stay around the 20 mark. I've been told they are OK, what does it mean, like you say, should it not be zero. My high one is worrying everyone - which makes me wonder - do they really know anything about these things? It is not making me have any confidence and I am starting to get very worried. I am due to have another MRI after the PET scan I had last week. So this has upset me, and the surgeon wants to see me re ovaries. PET scan went okay if not a little long and boring. the results are showing "something" on the left ovary, he's not happy with it, and the surgeon wants me to have an MRI....maddening as I'd refused that in the first place in order to have the PET. So it's not all cracked up to what it's meant to do I suppose, or perhaps they just like scanning you for the hell of it. I am hoping that the "something" is the cyst I've had for years, but he didn't say that, so it's a worry....hey ho. will just have to go with the flow. I got my NPI from my doc after dx and it was 5.52, I had no idea what that meant, but just put it on the internet and it doesn't look too good...oh well. Do I need to know these things - sometimes I do, others I don't. Oh well, better get back to cleaning and keeping my mind off it all xx ... View more

I have certainly changed, don't suffer fools....but then I never did, but I'm not not afraid to speak my thoughts. I have answered doctors back, got treatment becuase I've forced it, and that's in France..! I gave up my job, left UK and we live here now, running a Gite and have lots of animals, something that I never thought I would do - give up material things/money!!/Selfridges....ahhhhh but now it's welly boots and trying to remember to have a bath when I smell too much - ha ha. can't not think about BC, as it's constantly there to remind me, and it keeps coming back - must treat it too well perhaps?? but I don't feel sick (touch wood) and I get on with life, I've run three marathons since BC, 2003, and feel good about that and being able to still get on with life. I know perhaps some day that's not going to be the case and I've just lost a close friend who's dx was a lot better than mine, so it's always present. but, I life each day to the full and keep happy. I had grade 3 and grade 2 mastec. lapis dors. chemo and in France, Rads and then Pagets disease and 2 other operations, I'm due a PET scan as my blood markers for Ovarian Cancer is waaaay tooo high, and there isn't a day goes by when I don't get some pain in my now cut about recon. I don't worry over it too much, and just have to go with the flow, I get on with life, am cheerful and run a lot - done three marathons in 3 years. I try and educate people, but not force it down their throat and it annoys me if people say "you must be cured now".....ie I am not in agony or attached to a drip and don't "look like I've got cancer!" I've spoken to people who I know have BC and becuase it's been over 5 years for them, they say "I've had it, it's gone" and don't talk about it, or give it a thought. My MIL had a lumpectomy two years ago, rads and is on Arimidex (as I am) and she never talks about it, and refuses to say she has BC, just that she had a small lump removed as if were just a blip in her day. Hi there, I'm back on line. Good news is that after being "to the point" with the Onc in Montauban I got an appt in Toulouse for my PET Scan on 26th Jan.....so fingers crossed. I'm 48 and have been living in dept 82 for 4.5 years, started treatment in UK - mastec. chemo and then had rads here and 4 ops (to date!!) But I feel good......so I guess that's the main thing. I had very sad news yesterday, a very close friend, I met her in hospital in Guildford when we both had our "ops", 2003, died on Monday night. She had secondaries. Very sad and a hateful disease.
