Hello everyone I need a pick me up today and thought of you guys. I'm being incredibly grumpy today I think I'm getting wound up about the appointment on Wednesday. I know there is no point but I'm going from positive its only a cyst they can sort it to fearing the worse. This waiting room definately messes with your head and its driving me insane. Wouldn't mind but I've been waiting since 23rd December for this appointment which I know should mean that its fine as it wasn't an urgent referral but my gp doesn't know that and what if it is serious, could this wait have changed things. See there I go again assuming the worse.

Thank you for your thoughts. I am trying very hard to stay busy and not think about it and I was doing quite well until this week. I'm getting married in July this year so I've been busy sorting everything out but I seem to have managed to arrange everything now so have more time for thinking and wondering which isn't helping but then everyone here knows exactly what I mean. Not much I can do but sit and wait and try not to let my imagination take over.

Hello everyone I was on here almost two years ago and you were all so helpful. I had a microductectomy in April 2012 and was one of the lucky ones to get the all clear however in November 2013 I started getting a pain at the site of the surgery thinking perhaps it was just healing or hormones I left it. Come December the pain was really bad and it was swelling up to the point my nipple would disappear so off I goes to the GP. She thinks its just a cyst and infected gave me antibiotics and referred me back to my surgeon just to get checked out. A few weeks after Christmas I get what I now call my volcano a raised spot with yellow centre and it burst sending sticky yellow pus and what looks like blood everywhere so back to the GP. More antibiotics and wait and see. The lump has never gone and it swells up everyday some days more than others but about 2 weeks ago the swelling and pain got really bad and my volcano appears and yep explodes again so more antibiotics and the GP says she'll chase the hospital for my appointment. My appointment has finally arrived (a week tomorrow) but now I'm scared stiff what if it isn't a cyst? What will they do to get rid of the cyst! I can't have it swelling up and exploding every couple of weeks and 3 courses of antibiotics since the week of christmas sounds like quite a lot to me. Could it be more than just a cyst? I know there is nothing any of you can say really but this place is great for support. Thank you for reading and any comments, help or anything is very much appreciated.

Hi everyone I just wanted to say I wish I'd found this site 8 years ago when my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer, she had a lumpectomy, chemo and rads and yep I was one of those stupid non cancer people who came out with all those stupid comments thinking they were helpful!! My mum unfortunately got secondaries in lung and then brain and she died 18 months after her initial breast cancer diagnosis.
I came here when I had a scare in April of this year, I was one of the lucky ones and got the all clear after a microductectomy, you guys were wonderful to me and helped me through it but oh how I wish I'd found this place and you could have helped me through my mums diagnosis and everything she went through. Perhaps I would have been more help to her than I was.
Anyway I suppose what I'm saying is this place is fantastic and you are all such a great source of help, support and information.

Hi Julie Thank you for your comments I took my husband with me for the results as I was worried I wouldn't ask the right questions and I took a list of questions with me to try and make sure I covered everything as it goes the consultant was very good and actually answered them all before I could ask them. Sorry I hadn't updated my post as I've been to get my results now and thankfully I got the all clear although they don't actually know what caused the bloody discharge but the lab results didn't show anything either pre cancer or cancer so I'm very thankful for that. I'm also very thankful for the support I received here from everyone during this horrible journey I'm very very grateful for the results I've got and its given me a different perspective on life now. Thank you everyone.

Thank you everyone for your comments - I feel a little stronger everyday just wish I could go get the results tomorrow rather than having to wait another week. I didn't have a dressing on my wound so I've been able to see it since I came out think the drugs on the first day meant I didn't really take it in but the Friday was horrible it looked gross and I couldn't bear to look at it. The glue has started coming off along with the stitches and I have to say now the dried blood is coming away it doesn't seem quite so bad. Bruising is still there and not pretty, going some wonderful colours. One thing though I've noticed under the skin seems quite lumpy I assume this is normal and just the swelling where he's been in and cut and done things but should I be concerned. I'm worried though now with my past performance with the consultant of not asking questions I'll do the same when I go back for my results I just hope they let my partner come in with me at least he'll ask the questions that perhaps I'll be too dumbstruck to ask.

Last Thursday I had a microductectomy, I'm not sure how much the consultant removed as I didn't see him before I was discharged but he was hoping he would find the milk duct causing the problem but he did warn me that if he couldn't locate the exact one he'd remove a group of tissue from behind the nipple. He was sending the removed duct/tissue to the lab for testing and I have to go back next Friday to get the results. I hate this part and my mind is going crazy. I've also had trouble coming to terms with the size of the scar and the bruising I had from the surgery but I'm slowly getting used to it well not bursting into tears every few seconds anymore. I think its my own fault really I didn't really ask enough questions just agreed with everything he said and said no questions, didn't fully understand what was going to happen and still don't know what exactly he did. I also think I thought that once surgery was done it was over, didn't really think about the way it would look afterwards even if it is temporary. All in all I feel a bit of an emotional wreck really. In some ways I can't wait to get to next Friday as at least then I'll know what we are dealing with. Anyway thank you for listening to my waffle.

Why am I so scared of the surgery? I'm being a complete baby today, can't stop crying and feel a complete mess. What am I going to be like this time next week the day before the surgery. I just want it all over and done with.
Most of you have been through/are going through a lot worse than me and I feel really selfish and silly.

Of course you can pm me I will try and explain what tests I've had so far and I'm happy if my post has helped you in some way.
Having done research I can tell you there are alot of ok things that can be causing it even the consultant listed 5 before any tests and none of them were really bad but there is of course the possibility and we always focus on the worst case.
Your appointment is the day before my operation. Please contact me and I will try and help in anyway I can even if its only support and someone to let of steam at.

Hi everyone I'm so pleased I've found this place I feel a little better already. A little bit of background for you all. I went to my GP 3 weeks ago as I had a bloody discharge from my right nipple and she referred me to the breast clinic. I had my appointment on Wednesday and I've had mammograms and ultra sound but they couldn't find anything so the consultant has decided its best he takes out the affected milk duct and runs some tests on it. The surgery is booked for 26th April. I feel very very emotional at the moment and just get times where all I do is cry. I suppose I feel helpless and just don't know what to do - nothing I can do really but wait for the surgery and see what happens. He has suggested its either a papilloma or dcis so until its out and tested we just don't know.
