Thank you for your reply Lucy however I was not given and had never seen the Breast Cancer and Benefits factsheet, neither have I been offered or recieved any advise from my GP or a specialized team. Judging by the comments from other ladies I am not alone. I still feel that the information regarding free prescriptions should be made blatantly obvious, our worlds initially fall apart when we recieve our dx we need to be told these things not have to go searching through yet another factsheet to discover it.

Hi Chinook you are exempt for 5 years or longer if your treatment continues beyond that.Your exemption card will have an expiry date on it so you can use it up till that date.
I only found out about the exemption from the Macmillan site a few weeks into my treatment and I think it is appalling that we are not made aware of this from the start.
BCC I think you when you next reprint all the leaflets and booklets that you supply it would be good if you could include a paragraph informing people of this fact, or perhaps produce some leaflets for the Breast Clinics to display. 🙂

I would just like to say that I had 15 sessions at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton and all the staff without exception were friendly patient and understanding so it is possible to be technical and have a sense of empathy. I am sorry that you have both had more upseting circumstances but at least it's only a small part of your life and when you finish you can stick two fingers up to them (metaphorically of course)
