Hello ladies from March 2010 lovely to see your familiar user names from those dark scarey early days but happy to report I have just had my 5 years clear last week and just posting here to give  the others newly diagnosed that there is lots of good news stories and however low and awful you feel through treatment you will come through it a much stronger healthier better person .I am looking forward to being a gran in August and living life to the full.I couldn't have done without all of you inspirational group of ladies who were always at the other end of the keyboard for me and have made such a special group of friends who I still meet up and go away on holiday with  we have lost some friends along the way who will never be forgotten and have a special place in our hearts .I love you all xxxxxx  take care ladies Julie  ... One chemo must have is sherbert lemons ha ha for the metally taste take them to suck during chemo and drink at least 8 glasses of water or juice before and after. Eat little and often if you dont feel like eating ice-cream tonic water bread sticks and cream cheese ginger ale and flat lemonade. Ask for 1_ 2 pm appts cos by the time sickness kicks in about 4-6 hrs later i would go to bed and sleep it off. P.s leeds I didnt get my staging etc untill i had my appt with oncologist and she explained and went through all my path report with me and explained treatment plan so you will probably get to know then but if not ask them ......... if you feel you want to know ... View more

Hi shaders no grade and stage are not the same. The stage is how advanced the cancer is if it has spread to the nodes or other organs in the body. It also goes on tumour size.The grade is how changed the cells in the tumour are in relation to normal cells grade 1 is slightly changed grade 3 is the most changed but its worth remembering when they grade it my oncologist told me that even if you have only a few grade 3 cells and mostly grade 1 they have to grade it to the highest grade of cells they see .hope that makes sense and im not boggling you more. I was stage 2 although i had no spread or node involvement but the lump size was above 2 cm( 2.6cm) to be exact. But the tumour was grade 3. ... View more

Pink princess if you dont read any other pages read the chemo tips page 2 on here thats what helped us the most. As for node involvement theres no guarantees with or without node involvement i know people node negative who have had secondaries but the chemo and rads give you a benefit % this is greater than if you dont have treatment so you just have to concentrate on the benefits its giving you and greatly reduces the risk of reoccurence so try not to focus on that. I also believe that a positive state of mind and outlook helps a lot so live laugh and enjoy doing nice things on youre good days.you will start to plan and look to the future again .... honest xxxx big hug jules ... Happy new year pinkies found myself on here again as i reflected over the past year and a half Two years in march for my initial diagnosis and it makes me so sad to still be reading those posts of just diagnosed and starting chemo. It brings back all those panicky low emotional times. But hey ho here we all are and planning our 2nd pinkie meet up. Hi i got a two pack of really soft unpadded cotton bras from asda they are only £4 for two and are cheap enough to wear for rads when tthey get ruined with indelable ink still wear them for everyday ... View more

Hi ladies I hope you dont mind me popping into youre thread but i know how scared and confused before my treatment and how it seems such an epic time till you get through to the finish but it does pass quickly believe me. I SHARED MY JOURNEY WITH POPPY who i see has already popped up on youre thread we have all even had a very emotional meet up and planning another in march cos you do share a very special bond with the people you meet along this rd. I just wanted to share all our chemo tips for those starting out if you havent looked already look at page 2 on starting my pink rd of chemo nov 15th and they all there. We got 1st for most visited thread last year .I will be 2 years from diagnosis in march next year. Hi pinkies ooooorrr claire youre post made me cry iam so pleasd all went well and a good result Iam hoping my raised enzymes is due to the alcohol on my holiday or tamoxifen side effect but shes still booked me in for an abdominal scan. Now ive got the scan booked which is what i wanted for peace of mind, im worried sick again.... so you cant win really we know that life is so precious now and how easy it can all just go Tits up .......... excuse he punn.... anyway hope all the pinkies on here are doing well how is the others who started a long time after us is anyone still having tratment or rads or is everone done now xxxx ... Hi pinkies kerry i think youre 1st week is over i understand how you feel I was really miserable when doing rads it felt more of an intrusion innto my life than chemo and i really begrudged havibg to go every day to be blasted for 2 mins it was a whole morning out of my life and feelt like it would go on forever, but just remember its the last lap xxxxI think Baaaarth sounds lovely and it will be great for trip to join us all travel lodge would be fine as long as they use plates to serve breakfast on ..... not Sarahs knee ha ha still of work till monday and then im on holiday so ill be off again aand when i come back Iam gonna see HR again and get something in writing.Had my hair cut again she went a bit wild and scalped me again Omg put my hair growth back to 1st month of chemo so its back to mini straighteners .....ha ha never mind itll be nice for my hols got my travel insurance today from insure pink and no extra supplement on to cover BC cos its over a year since diagnosed so got it for £35 for both of us and it covers the bc so not bad xxx take care all luv to all Julie Ps Trip sounds like you all had an amazing time just what you needed all of you xx ... Hi girls just popping in again to say hi xx enjoy v festival kaz my daughters there aswell. Kerry cant believe what those idiots said to you some people have no idea what we go through. I HAVE ENDED UP GOING SICK AGAIN THIS WEEK cos had a major melt down work getting to me and everyone expecting me to be "BETTER" And as i was before and im not.......had a word with new manager and she gave me a hug and said she will look after me and support me when i explained going from days to nights and doing 4 nights on a trot too much. Thought i was getting somewhere and occ health e -mailed her and backed me up then lo and behold went in this week to find she stuck me on days again and then 4 nights again after? ????? What do they not understand about Ive been ill and had chemo and rads and surgery are they trying to finish me off alltogether, i dont think so .... so im now on the sick again do you think theyll get the message? Hi pinkies just to say thank-you for such a fab and funny time we had in York I was sooooo emotional meeting you all( i blame the tamoxifen) but you all exceeded my expectations and are a really great group of ladies and youre personalities are just the same as you write, isnt it strange how you can be atracted to the same bubbly sort of people on a forum and get on sooooo well as if we had known each other for years in real life .Good luck to Karen on her 100 mile walk and we will definately meet up again soon ,I dont think even the pinkie tank could break this bond we all have now . xxxxxxxxx take care all Julie ...
