Hi I have been taking Letrozole for nearly three years and have dreadful side effects. My consultant has now chnged me onto Exemestane (Aromasin) in the hope the side effects will not be so bad. anyone had experience of this drug. Thanks

Hi Everyone
I am still taking Letrozole but have been told I now have osteporisis and the Letrozole will make it worse, have tried most of the medications for osteo but they have all made me ill. They now want to try me on an injection to which I have said I am not too keen after finding out all about the side effects. I am going to see the oncologist and he is going to discuss the osteo and my hormone therapy medication, feeling very tearful and fearful, you think once you have had surgery and rads then tablets you can move on, but no that is not the case. Every day my body hurts and to think a year and half ago i was a very fit 59 year old had a good life now I just ache and can not do what I used to do get very weary every day. Does anyone else feel like this.

I am taking letrozole , have been since July 2011 and have had a bone scan and it was discovered I had osteo, have tried 3 different types of osteo drugs with really bad gastric problems. I am now waiting to be told if I will be changed from letrozole to tamoxifen or another drugs that do not affect your bones. The oncologist suggested to my breast cancer care nurse that I had the six monthly injection for my bones, (without talking to me or asking about my experiences with osteo drugs) I am scared to have the injection - will it make me ill again, and would I have stomach problems for six months at a time.If I take tamoxifen what are the side effects I have read that it can cause womb cancer.It is bad enough getting breast cancer but year and a half on I am still scared and tearful.

A friend of mine is taking Letrozole, we started taking it within a week of each other, and she has no side effects at all. When I told her what the consultant had said to me her reply was does that mean the treatment is not working for me.
I did my best to reassure her that everyone is different, another friend of mine also suffers from aching joints but not as badly as myself, what I need is a 2 weeks holiday lying on a tropical beach in the hot sunshine.

I went for my six monthly appointment last week, and asked the consultant about all the aches and pains and stiffness - was it caused by the letrozole - he said yes probably and it was a good sign that the treatment was working. I asked will I be in pain for the next four years and the answer I got was 'yes you will, take painkillers. It is hard to keep a smile on your face knowing that.
I suppose he was being honest - brutally so.
keep taking the tablets.

I have been taking Femera/Letrozole since last July and my goodness my body does ache, knees, shoulders, hips and my hands are really stiff. It hurts to do ordinary daily tasks, no one seems to believe me when I say how my body aches, oh they say but you look so well. I cant believe I have another 4 years of this, but if it keeps the cancer at bay.

I have been on Femera (now Letrozole for 8 months and have aching joints, especially my knees,shoulders, hands and hips. I am now experiencing really hot flushes and night sweats. As anyone else been experiencing low moods since taking this medication.

I have been taking letrozole for 8 months and have suffered from personal dryness but seem to have tolerated the letrozole quite well. I had a bone density scan and have been advised to take medication but I have been unable to tolerate any of the three different medicines that have been prescribed they all gave me terrible tummy problems, but I keep being told by the doctors that I must take this medication as anyone else been through this and found a solution.

I have had WLE and 15 sessions of radiotherapy and am due to start takimg Femera in 5 weeks time, is there anyone out there who is doing the same and is there anyone who is taking Femera at the moment.
