ThX everyone for your replies, sorry I haven't made it on here for a while. My Faslodex is part of a clinical trial along with another drug (FAKtion Trial) and I've been so busy with hospital visits. I've had my first 2 sets of injections and so far so good. Yes, I've had the sore bottom but will definitely try the massaging. Hope you all keep well and the treatments keep working 🙂

I'm about to switch from Capecitabine to Faslodex following progression of my bone mets and was wondering how others had coped with it and what were the likely side effects. My oncologist tells me it is well tolerated but was a little vague with any other information! Regards augusta19

Hi Olives I'm on my 22 cycle of Cap, just waiting to come of it to start on a clinical trial. I've worked through the whole time (I work 22 hours a week). I had initial problems with hand/foot syndrome and did have one 3 week chemo break around cycle 13 to go away on holiday. Apart from some tiredness I have coped well and hope it is the same for you. Keep going with the Udderly - it really helps. Regards augusta19

Hi everyone Haven't posted on here in ages but just thought I'd update you all. I'm just completing my 21st cycle of capecitabine and it has kept my bone mets stable for almost a year and a half with minimal side effects. For those of you just beginning your Cape journey thought thought this might give you some peace of mind as any new treatment is scary. For me it seems this part of my journey is now ending as I have a new bone met so the Cape isn't as effective as it was a year and a half ago so on to pastures new that I hope will be as effective and as kind 🙂 augusta19 x

I really hope Cap works for you. I tried Tamoxifen, Letrozole and Exemestane but hormone treatment didn't seem to work for me either. Cap is doing the trick at he moment so hopefully it will for you too. If they don't immediately get your levels right persevere, once they get that sorted it's a do-able chemo (for me anyway, I know it's not the same for everyone) 🙂

I have just started cycle 7 of Capecitabine and work part-time (22hrs a week). I do get tired but have managed to continue working. I like you still have a mortgage and my youngest still in university. I have had problems with my hands and feet, but have now had a dose reduction and all seems much better. I started my first cycle on 4 large tablets twice a day but my hands and feet reacted very badly. Since cycle 5 I've been on 2 large tablets and one small one twice a day and have just had bone scan results which show my bone mets are stable. I'm finding it to be a very tolerable treatment and hope you find it so too.

Ann - I'm sure Gail is right. Another scan before you decide sounds a good idea, you need to know how we'll it's working.
I started my Capecitabine 2 days ago and so far so good, very early days though I know.

It's looking likely that I shall be starting capeciitabine early January (seeing oncologist on the 7th and have my capeciitabine induction on the 8th). ThQ for all your useful tips and positive attitudes. I'll let you know how I get on. I've already started with the moisturising of the hands and feet!

Hi Ladies, This is my first post. Was diagnosed with bone mets in December only 2 years after my primary, have started on Femara and Zometa after some Rx for the pain. All seems to be going well and wanted to say how comforting I find all your comments and in sights- it truly helps me to stay positive.
