My friends got together and decorated my bedroom while I was away the week before starting chemo. They even had a new carpet put down!
We had meals brought round several times a week even though I couldn't eat or didn't feel up to cooking.
Also my husband was fabulous at looking after me and the kids too. Had cards and flowers every week.
We have a truly fabulous bunch of friends.

Jumping on the paranoia bandwagon. Had headaches for a few weeks and you can all guess what I'd convinced myself of. Had brain CT on Monday. All clear!! Now I've just got that pain in my side/back to get rid of...

It sounds like you're not getting support where you need it from your mum either. Anyone would think youhad a choice in whether you got cancer or not!

Hi Poppy. Sorry to hear you're not feeling well.
Got on ok at check up. Had back x ray as I had a bad back for a few weeks. Was ok so seeing Osteopath at work now. Having CT scan in next few weeks. Had a few headaches but I'm sure it's the tamoxifen.
How's it going at work. Hope it's not too much for you.
When are you all going to Bath? I might be able to come if that's ok.

Hi PCB.
I've started to do a bit of work after having had horrendous chemo(starting Nov last year), mastectomy and radiotherapy. I'm finding it a real struggle and really don't want to be there. The problem is it's my own business. I've had people running it while I've been off but they've had to cut down now. I feel that after all ive been through I need time to come to terms with things. I know I need to cut back again otherwise it will make me ill.
You must take as much time as you need to fully recover. I'm good at saying this to others but not myself.
Work can wait. You're the most important thing.

Hi Sportygirl. I stated Tamoxifen in early September. I take Citalopram as an antidepressant which I don't think affects the Tamoxifen. I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I don't suffer any side effects with it but I have seen posts from a few people who have but many more positive posts.
I'm sure more people will be along with advice soon.

Hi Herbi. Just saw your post and thought I would say hello.
I had my Mx on 1st June which was my 45th birthday. Not the best present but at least it was getting rid of the lump. I was really anxious beforehand. I just couldn't imagine what it was going to be like. In the event the operation wasn't as bad as I thought and the wound healed amazingly quickly. You'll be shown gentle exercises to keep the arm mobile and avoid tightnes underthe armpit.

Hi girls. Hi Poppy and Jo and everyone else. Another candidate for the new group here.
Have been getting on pretty well apart from the general fear that we all have lurking at the back (and sometimes front) of our minds.
I've started doing a bit of work over the last few weeks but have started to feel increasingly anxious and under pressure. I feel that I would much rather stay at home or just do a small bit of work but my assistant has had to cut down her hours now. I think I need to go back to our local cancer support centre where I can see the counsellor and see if she can help me. I feel if I continue like this I'll go off sick again. Haven't had my check up with the oncologist either so I feel a bit in limbo.
Anyway, off for a week to the coast for half term so will have a good think about things.

Hi girls, good to read about everyone again. I still can't give up reading all the threads. Kerry, I've got the monkey too !! He's not very nice and I want him to go away. I've started to try and get fit and lose weight and I've also started trying to do a bit of work. I'd rather stay at home though.

Hi all.
I thought I'd sailed through rads but about 10 days after finishing I developed a huge, painful burn over the whole area. The radiotherapy team had given me some gel pads which I could put in the fridge then apply to the area. My doctor also gave ms a prescription for them and they really helped. They are called Geliperm. I had used the aloe Vera gel all the way through and it was fine while the treatment was being carried out.

Well it's a year today since I went to the doc and she referred me to breast clinic just to be in the safe side.
What a year it's been. Never thought I would get through it and it would have been so much harder without all of you being there for me.
Glad we are through to this next chapter.

Kerry I agree totally with what you said about living for now. I went to a funeral of a former neighbour today. She was diagnosed with BC after me tho I think it had probably already spread.
We need to try and enjoy life as much as we can.
I've been trying to start to get fit again and have done a couple of old lady classes at my gym as I'm not up to doing the classes I used to do yet. They're hilarious. Also having a free session with a personal trainer tomorrow. Think they may despair when they see me.

Hi all.
I've been taking Menopace Sage tablets which are supposed to help with hot flushes and sweats. I think they must work as I ran out a couple of days ago and the sweats have been worse. I also take a high strength evening primrose oil supplement and a low dose of Citalopram which is supposed to help with the flushes too. Mentioned to my doc about people saying the Citalopram was good for hot flushes. She prescribed something different which is usually prescribed fir high blood pressure but also reduces hot flushes. I've not taken them as my BP is usually quite low so I was a bit worried and the flushes weren't too bad. I'm also going to have acupuncture as that's supposed to help too.

Hi pinks. Haven't posted for a while. Have been away. Just caught up on the posts. Not going to write a long post now as it's 2.20 am. Did 5k 'run' in Hyde park today for BCC with my friends. Got sore back now and it woke me up.
Claire just wanted to send you a big hug. You've been through such a lot and it's so unfair that you're being treated like this. It doesn't sound like things are going to change really. Will write a longer post tomorrow.

Another insomniac member of the 2am club here.
Like some others I could sleep for England whilst on chemo etc but since finishing treatment am suffering sweats and sleeplessness and I haven't even started tamoxifen yet. Had Zoplicone to help me sleep during chemo and it really helped but doc was worried about prescribing it for long. Didn't have any problem coming off it either just gradually halved and then quartered the tablet over a week or so.
Lovely rad burn also contributing to night discomfort at the mo too.
Will be another willing guinea pig for any sleeping tips.
