Hi Jane, I wasted an awful lot of my time during active treatment last year worrying about work and the time off, so worked as much as I could through treatment, and went back full time straight after rads. Twinky, the knitathon sounds good fun - I have been busy knitting clothes for my grandchildren's dolls and teddies. Stops me from thinking too much and because the items are small, I don't get bored with them before I have finished! I guess I should be on a celebration bench, but not too sure - just called the Docs for results of bone scan, my GP is on holiday so receptionist tells me the results are "satisfactory" - what on earth that means I don't know, but will assume it is good (so why am I crying?!!). Is there a bench for contemplating future career or lack of? One of my big fears from my initial diagnosis has now come true, and yes, they found they could do without me when I was sick, so I am being made redundant. Trouble is I cannot think of a single thing that I want to do.... but I am the only breadwinner, so will have to face up to this at some point very soon and get my act together. Love the sound of the teeny sheep CM! I think my grand daughters would adore them, but not sure Lucy the spaniel would be too keen on sharing her garden.. ... View more

Much calmer this morning - came home last night to find an answerphone message from the Doc (yes the call that the receptionist said would be impossible!). X-Ray was clear (good) but need to have a bone scan, so some more waiting to do - and as you have gathered I'm not very good at that! Hi everyone, just got home from work to find a tel message from the GP (after being told by the receptionist that it was impossible for him to call me, and she refused to take the number where I could be reached at work!)to say that the x-ray was fine, but they want me to have a bone scan just as a precaution given my symptoms. Well the pain is real enough and severe enough to wake me up several times a night and shout out - so something is going on...could i ask you if anyone has had a clear x-ray but then had bone mets diagnosed? THANKYOU GIJANE!! I have been sat on the absolutely fuming bench all afternoon, so a giggle was just what the doctor ordered! But talking about Doctors....I called the surgery again this morning to see if x-ray results have arrived (been calling everyday this week as I didn't beleive it would really be 10 days for results - I was right - it was 11...). Well they have the results, but the Doc hasn't looked at them yet. I asked if they could call me when he has looked at them, but was told no, they don't make any calls in the afternoon, and I will have to phone again.Meanwhile I am in considerable pain, getting little sleep, and very worried... Sorry, I am now back in orbit!! Someone point me in the direction of that Spa bench again - I think I need a massage to help me calm down! ... View more

Hi everyone, many thanks for your kind responses. With regard to the NHS vs Private thing, I actually have no concerns at all that my treatment would be any less than excellent on the NHS and I know that I would have the same oncologist - I was just shocked at being told 10 days for results of an x-ray (apparently it takes that long to be typed and sent-what century are we in!!!) as it had been ordered by my GP, whereas whenever I have had scans and x-rays with the oncologist I have been told results within a day or 2! Unfortunately, halfway through my treatment last year, the company I work for changed insurance providers (caused me no end of hassle with invoices being sent to the wrong company etc.) and the new company gives a much lower lever of cover, specifically excluding secondary cancer, so if there is a problem with mets I will have to switch back to NHS. I of course hope that the hip pain is nothing more than wear and tear - and it is really just an annoyance as it is limiting my activity to a degree. I didn't take it too seriously actually until I saw the GP, but his reaction made me start googling like mad and of course the symptoms all fit....but then of course they would! Hi I am waiting for results of an x- ray on my hip - had the x-ray on Monday and was told 10 days for the results to get to my gp! Wishing I had gone straight to Onc who always has results next day but worried as my treatment was private and my companies medical Ins will no longer cover me if I have secondary cancer and I can't pay for any private treatment! Basically I have not been able to tell anyone about my worries about mets and how scarey this is, everyone thinks that I am back to normal and bc is in the past - at least you will understand! Is there a panic bench available for those that can't cope with waiting for results? Had an x-ray on Monday and was told 10 days for results! WTF!!! Oh and in the real world of normal life I would like a to sit on the slightly irritated bench as I had to work at home today and miss a meeting due to a flat tyre.... But of course that gave me more time for worrying! ... View more
