Dear Miao was a kind and thoughtful girl who I first met at the meet ups at Browns in Bristol in 2010 and got to know better through her involvement with our networking group here in Somerset, As AnneS said, Miao did take comfort in her faith and I do so hope this sustained her at the end. She was a dear and valued member of CanDo and we will miss her.
To have tackled this in her twenties and in another country must have been so tough.
At peace now dear Miao; sunshine and flowers for you all the way from now on.

Can I ask, are you girls discussing whole breast recon with fat transfer? I have been following the development of this for 2 years but my surgeon insists it is not available in the UK. I've recently found someone who has had it done though and am a bit cheesed off as I'd asked ages ago for a referral to anyone that was doing it. I currently have a very unsatisfactory implant, am not eligible from TRAM/DIEP and can't see the point in LD as in my case it would still require an implant under. I did have radio but didn't even go red despite higher/prolonged therapy and my skin is perfect.
If you ARE discussing whole breast recon (and not lumpectomy fills), it'd be really helpful if you could let me know which hospitals you are being treated at. Ta muchly 🙂 xx

Hello Laura64. Joanna's service is on August 3rd, but she has requested family flowers only. Instead, she has asked for donations to 'Guy's St Thomas's Charity' for the Savannah Ward at the Evelina Hospital to be sent to Serenity Funeral Directors, 43 South Street, Eastbourne, BN21 4UT. I'd google them for a number and check the exact details for a cheque. I know she'd be delighted to think that a contribution had been made. xx

I posted about Joanna's passing on the 'triple neg secondaries' thread. I met her at the Penny Brohn Centre in 2010 and had kept in touch with her since. She'd just had her youngest when we met and was dealing with other difficulties; lovely Joanna had a bumpy ride in the last few years but her focus on her family got her through it.

I met Jo at the Penny Brohn Centre in 2010 and we kept in regular contact by email. I rarely post on these boards now and am sad to be telling you that Jo died on July 23. Some of you will know that she had taken a turn for the worse and although her strength kept her hoping for a turnaround, it was not to be. Jo died peacefully at home with her family. She'd been in the middle of organising for her second-to-youngest to start school in September and had recently helped her toddler celebrate his second birthday.
"Bravo Jo, it was tough but youdid fab. Now rest."
I didn't talk to Jo on these forums; perhaps someone could let me know if there's another thread she also posted on, or otherwise pass on the sad news. Much love to all of you.

Stunned. I only visit these boards occasionally now and was so very sorry to see this. Gingerbud and I were diagnosed at the same time and there is no good reason why I am here and she isn't.
She was dealt a cXXp hand but still managed to help and inspire others, as the moving posts here and on the in memoriam threads show. Rest easy now Tina. xxx

Jan Jan ...um... are you Jan that has tried to join CanDo? We had no message when you asked to join so a few of us went hunting for Jans and found your name on here. We've sent you private messages on the BCC site over the last week but had no responses! If you are, because you are local, we'd love you to join us but as you didn't send a message with your request on Fb and have your Fb message settings blocked to non-friends, nobody has been able to reach you.
If you ARE the same Jan and you'd still like to hook up with us, just respond to my message on here by private messaging me or look again at the Somerset CanDo page on Fb and follow the joining instructions (send the requested info to one of the site admins).
We have a lot of fun and would be happy to let you in but hope you understand that we#re a little privacy-conscious, hence the messages we've sent.

Oh this is useful. i don't post on here much now but stumbled in as 3 days ago I awoke to find I had a period and thought it really odd, given my situation.
I'm 47 and not had a period since first chemo in April 2010, so almost 2 years ago. I was pre-meno at dx, had 8 FEC-T (4+4) and a year of Herceptin infusions.
Am ER neg so no treatment implications.
Kinda odd, given my age. Plus have had several blood tests to check FSH etc, all showing I was producing less oestrogen than a man.

Hello! Yes, I started a networking group for women in Somerset. We get together regularly to do fun things. Members have from stage 1 to stage 4 bc and between us we've experienced everything.
Quite a few people live in Taunton itself. If you are being treated at Musgrove, ask one of the nurses how to get in touch with CanDo or see the poster in the info area in building outside the breast clinic. (It's a portacabin isn't it? You know, through the door next to the reception and it's just outside). I'd have put the contact info on here but Breast Cancer Care sent me an unfriendly message last time I did that.
We'd love to meet up wit you Padme.
