HI Phillapa. Regarding the sore feet, by the end of my second round my feet were so bad that the skin came off from the toe to the heel in leathery, strips. Onc gave me an extra week off to recover. Since then I have creamed them at least twice a day with Aveeno. But the major difference is wearing shoes with memory foam soles from Hotter. You can also buy the soles from  Hotter for £10. Hi Linda. Don't know whether this is any help but I have my morning ones at about 7.30  after breakfast and second lot at about 7.30 in the evening after tea. Afternoon everyone. Hope you are all doing well. Looking for some advice regarding dry skin. Noticed yesterday that skin on chest was very dry and then checking this morning most of body feels dry.  Is this a SE of the cape. Have applied Aveeno to chest this morning in hope that it helps. Yes I know. Did say this and really got nowhere so felt easier to wait and see the onc. I think it is more to do with workload. Have been very disappointed my treatment by Urology across the board. Had to have kidney stents inserted to help keep kidneys healthy during chemo. They didn' t tell me they needed replacing every 6 months. Communication has been very poor. I rang Urology to ask for reports , especially of the minor operation I had 2 weeks ago . Was told the  Consultant did't send reports because of all the medical language used!!Offered me a clinic appointment though.  Am going to ask the Onc next week for copies.Marli x ... View more

My feet are almost back to normal after extra week off. Started med last Thursday and all seems to be going well. Thank you for asking. Sorry to hear that you had to be in hospital but all seems to be going well. They did mine when I had a biopsy - didn't even know I had any !! During my first round of cape I too lost my appetite, hubby lived off ready meals. Just no interest in food. I did, however make my self eat little and often . Dairy rice pots were my preferred food. Well I have started my 2nd cycle of cape. Hoping it will go better than the first. First round was ok, second round onc put dose up and feet reacted - like walking on hot gravel . asked if she would reduce the dose but she wanted to keep it high to see what would happen. What happened was that the skin on my feet shed completely from toe to heel Grade 3 she told me.  Had to stop tablets and the she gave me an extra week off to allow them to heal. Nearly got rid of most of the shedding skin but hands started this week but nowhere near as bad. Someone on this site mentioned Aveeno so as it was on offer at Boots for half price I bought some. Looking for some advice please.  Finished first round and was not too bad fatigue being the main problem. Second round brought the foot problems. Felt like walking on hot gravel. Onc told me that if it was the same on the 3rd round I should ring them and prob stop taking pills.  3rd round - am 12days in and feet are a mess. Previous sores have started to peel, like old blisters. They are still sore but not as painful. Left hand is also sore due to coming down stairs gripping banister due to knee problems. Do you think I should ring the chemo ward for advice? Yes , I have Hotters memory foam sole casual shoes but still not good look for being dressed up. As we are getting a taxi from hotel to restaurant am going to try some embellished pumps with an expensive gel sole and hope that works. Getting caught short in public is distressing. I had severe diarrhoea for a year during my Herceptin and Perjeta treatment so at the moment this is manageable , take my emergency kit everywhere. Thank you all for your advice. I am seeing my onc on Wednesday and intend speaking to her then. I have only taken 6 anti-sickness tablets over the two rounds (6 weeks). and have the metaclopadin (spelling) because the others make me very constipated and she advised these would be better. The "gaseous emissions" - WOW. I am quite an expert at that and unfortunately it does not smell pleasant. Remember that from first lot of chemo in 2009, caused much amusement of my BCC forum - there was a whole thread about it. the things we have to put up with. Was wondering if it was normal for the feet and hands to go so fast (hands starting now). Going out for dinner on Saturday for hubby's birthday and am not sure what shoes to wear because I am living in slippers. Have just finished taking pills for 2nd week of first round and have found it quite hard. Feet started to go downhill after 2 days and I am finding walking quite hard. Followed advice from ladies on here regarding creaming etc and putting feet up. Also developed diarrhoea and was sick a couple of times. Took anti-sickness a few times but think they make me feel unwell. Digestion like a tumble dryer and making loads of gas. Is this typical?  Onc did raise dose to 4300mg per day from 3300 so feel that it is a bit high. Have lost a stone since last weighed in clinic 2 months ago and wonder if this contributes. Barton - do you have a McMillan toilet card. It tells people you are receiving treatment for cancer and may need the loo urgently. Used mine for the first time on Saturday at Boot's opticians.
