Hi, I finished my chemo in August 2012 and during it I was deternined to keep fit.  However, for the first week after each chemo I felt extremely tired -almost like being run over by a steam roller so no chance then.  In the 2nd week I used to do walking-about 5 miles a time and then in the 3rd week when I felt well I would do a couple of 3 mile runs slowly!. Good luck with yours and keep positive.    I am doing a half marathon for cancer research  in October in Oxford so that is my challenge and while I can now run ok , my stamina is not yet back to what it was before chemo.  It takes a good year or more to really get over things so do not be too hard on yourself.   Best wishes Amba rose. ... Hello all, Just hopped in to say am now recovered from all the anxiety and depression and back at work which is great. So glad to see familiar faces on here and thanks for the waves and hugs etc. Am going to do the Race for Life in Newbuery on July 7th and then the Oxford half marathon in aid of Breast cancer on Oct 13th so if anyone else is doing either let me know and we can meet up!! Hi Bunnies, I am so sorry not to have been on for ages but I just could not even face reading the posts until today. I have been really depressed and anxious BUT it is improving and after 2 months off work i am now going to try a phased return from next week which I have been told consists of me doing as much or as little as I like. I do not know why I could not read the forum but I can now so thank you to everyone for sending me good vibes etc and wishes. Sammellee- thank you for the meet up in Cheltenham and glad to hear your surgery went well. I wish you all a much better 2013 and will drop in from time to time. I hope the worst is behind me now. My GP has been great-hardly saw him when I was on chemo or rads but I see him a lot now!!!. Realy good book given to me by my daughter was the Cancer Survivors Companion. Southpool- I too have a very furry face all down my cheeks-would that be suitable for threading?. Also I too have curly grey hair at the back and which is so thick on top it looks like coconut matting. In fact there is hair everywhere!!! Hi bunnies, So nice to hear all the news and glad the results are good Wendy. Pixie i hope the tooth is settling down. i need some of your positive energy right now. I am not feeling too good at all and have a) phoned BCN to ask if I could stop Tamoxifen in case that was making me feel so down-answer no, please keep taking it but come in for a session next week to talk through everything that has been going on. So I will. She said a lot of ladies feel like this! b) made another appointment with my doctor today as opposed to locum of last week as things have not got any better and I feel low and anxious. We discussed anti depressents and I have a presciption for some and also for some sleeping tablets to see if that will kick start my sleep pattern back into some sort of normal rhythm and prevent the awful 3am lurch into wakefullness with anxiety churning around my head and body. Trouble is now I have them I do not know whether I want to take them. It feels such a failure and the thought of work nearly freaks me out and I actually work at a lovely place with lovely people. I just know I could not handle anyone elses problems or deal with any management issues without it being a huge problem. This is not a good place to be so sorry for the moan. I cannot believe I am feeling like this as the time in treatment I felt quite positive if i remember correctly. I might be meeting up with sammeelee tomorrow in Cheltenham if we can coordinate times in the afternoon which will be lovely. As you said margitee, it is lovely to have this new set of friends who we would never have known if we had not had the dreaded BC. Hi Bunnies, Have managed to get to read the posts and try to get all the news and sorry for being a bit down but I have finally succumbed to visiting the doc and being signed off for 2 weeks as felt overwhelmed at work(despite considerate boss) and was just running around like a headless chicken. Its the nights that i find so difficult when i wake up with racing brain at 4am. now in separate bedroom so can read or listen to music in the small hours. Hi Everyone, First thing is to say what a wonderful support you all are and to those of us having a bit of a melt down, it does halp to have all our friends be there for us. I did see boss today and have permission to do as much or as little as I feel- there is still a lot to do but at least he is aware that I feel I've been run over with a load of bricks emotionally. The lack of sleep is not good -GMT I hope your holiday helps with that. I have to wait till Christmas to go away but have got a few nice things to look forward to in the next few weeks-meals with friends etc. It is really necessary to have something to look forward to I think as up to this point it was finising each stage of treatment and then???????. Christine, thinking of you and Sameelee as we are all in a place we have never been before. Hi Bunnies, Loved the link to the article after the treatment finishes-actually it summed me and feelings just right. made Oh read it as I was sitting in floods of tears at breakfast as have been guilty of trying to cope as if nothing has happened at work. Will see boss this week and tell him am taking it down a notch and may go to Dr and ask for something to help me sleep as that is the worst thing. Loved the video of BF and all the photos. have just shown OH and he thinks we all look great. Fingers crossed for Monday Hilary and hope parents are ok with it all. Very nervewracking. Pixie, sounds as if the covered bridges may just start the mojo off. Good Luck! I loved that book and film -cried and cried each time I read it. I too felt quite down yesterday and so am glad to hear I am not alone. All my lovely waiting room friends at Rads wanted to know how the "party" went and telling them brought it home that we have now done it, not there to look forward to anymore, Rads hopefully finishing next week but then Life and work carry on and the pressure cranks up or thats how it feels. I had all these good ideas of parttime work etc and just cannot see how it can be achieved at the moment as all I want to do is stop. I have to see if it is the Rads that is contributing to this general feeling of emotion or is it the Tamoxifen or everything we have been through. But it is supporting to know others feel the same. Pixie, I do hope you are still above water level in Maine -what an adventure and watching the news it looks horrendous. It was such a pleasure and fun to meet you all yesterday. Superb organisation by our wonderful Pixie who is now hopefully all chacked in for plane to Maine. Yous are all so positive and it proved that the power of belonging to a group can help us all get through it together. I loved my presents- the fan and the bunny tin and mug and wind up bunny so Thank you to Campo and to whoever put my pressie together. We have been having competitions to see who can make the jumping bunny turn the most somersaults and land on its feet. So far 3 is the number and Oh and i are level!!. Well, we are all having fiascos it seems- have had delays all week at Rads - 2 hours usually so spend till 6-7pm at hospital after work, totally tired and on verge of tears all the time especially at work which i feel I cannot cope with- boss with vision wanting to put it into practice now now now and then today have call from hospital to say all computer down so no one is being done and they will reschedule for Saturday when I go tomorrow. This is despite me saying yesterday that if there were any more problems I COULD NOT DO SATURDAY as have special special day I just cannot miss. So I am not doing Saturday no matter what they say-they can put me in next saturday. The emotions are raw at the moment-do you think it is the Tamoxifen or just generally? I just want to meet you all at Bunnyfeste and have a good cry-that sounds pathetic but I am sure it will do me good. Well, what can I say except Pixie, we all love you and are wishing you well- we are so lucky to have such a great group of bunnies led by chief bunny so look after yourself and listen to us. Rest if you need it and on holiday just go with the beautiful scenery and the sheer indulgence of seeing somewhere new whilst being driven!!. Percussion instument! well thats a challenge- I am so busy st work this week that I have no time for anything especially as every afternoon I am having rads and yesterday had 2 hour wait so did not get home till 8pm. I did feel so sorry for the staff who had been there since 7am and had machines breakdown etc. rachel, have just had boiling oil splash onto my hand whi;st cooking. Hi Everyone, Congrats to little chick -so pleased. Southpool well done at complaining-that is not good treatment. I too have some delays but everyone is always friendly and cheerful. However, there are differences big time in nakedness procedure. like most of us I don't care who sees my breasts now but one female radiographer covers me up with a paper towel once the measurements are taken. No one else does and actually i do not mind. The only time I did do a double take was on my second dose when I walked into 3 male radiographers. All young and all extremely professional so it actually was ok to be standing there after taking off my gown naked to the waist with 3 men!. Bunyfeste prog arrived today -wonderful I am soooo excited and emotional too but the apparent pelvic floor problem that I did have a few weeks ago after chemo seems to have stopped thank goodness- so no Tena needed for me yet please although I was worried a few weeks ago. Hi Bunnies, I am now going to have to wear my cheap plastic headband ears for a while to see if they hurt. If had more hair it might be all right but now listening to Pixie, i am not sure and time is getting close. Got part of my pressie today -had one idea but eldest daughter gave it the thumbs down so had to go with her idea!!. Rads- yes southpool, I too have to get into acceptance mode as the 2 months since chemo made me forget for a while about BC and its now back on a daily basis in my life. It doesn't help that it is so difficult to park at my Centre and so have to leave work at least 75 mins before appointment, drive 12 miles, spend 25-30 mins driving round multistory car park getting more and more stressed as time is ticking away, then find there is a message in Rads to say running 1 hour late. Grrrrrr. However, acceptance is the key so with 15 more to go I will probably manage it soon!. Went for lovely long walk today with my dog and then because its allowed, called in gym and had a swim. Wonderful. I don't understand the Hormone tablet decision either- I am post menopausal by 9 years but I am on Tamoxifen for 2 years and then AI. Love to all Sarah ... View more
