Hi, I was diagnosed with Lobular icancer in 2012. Had neoadjuvant chemo, operation and radioterapy. The cancer was 7cm and 19 lymph nodes involved. Over the past six years I have had combined together over 15 MRI scans (mostly breast) with Gadolinium contrast agent. I have been feeling real sick straight after last few scans I.e. nausea, bone pain, headaches, dizzines ... In the coming months I have been scheduled for more regular breast MRIs + contrast. I do not want having contrast any more with my scans. Would therefore welcome any real experiences and advice on whether breast MRI without contrast is going to be of diagnostic value? I have an option of having 3Tesla scans? Is it worth having MRI without contrast?

2 years ago I had right breast therapeutic mammoplasty as part of my cancer treatment. I have excellent aesthetic result on the right hand side. 10 months ago I had symmetrising left mammoplasty procedure to match the right breast. The outcome of this cosmetic procedure left me with uneven, totally unproportioned shape. There is significant difference in shape and size. Now I wear partial shapers. Moreover there is a dip when laying down in the medial aspect of my areola. Breasts do not match each other. The hospital responce is not acceptable: "The breast reduction undertaken on the left side was felt to be an appropriate volume match to your right breast in theatre". During the surgery I was sat up to ensure symmetry and volume match. It was obvious to me minutes after I woke up after the surgery my left breast felt much smaller than the right. I told medical staff about it straight away, they however tried to persuade me that the operation went OK. I am so devastated now, completely lost confidence in the hospital, antidepressants do not help much. Could you Ladies suggest any good and honest plastic surgeon(s) who would be impartial without ever covering previous surgeons botched job? I do not mind travelling either within the UK or France-Belgium-Germany as long as I could find the right cosmetic surgeon.

Hi all, I just received my pathology report and its been shocking. 19 cancerous out of 22 lymph nodes involved with extracapsular spread. Over 7 cm mixed lobular/ductal grade2. After neoadjuvant chemo EC+Taxol my ER+ 8/8 PrG+ 8/8 changed to ER+ 8/8 PrG- 0/8 Why could my progesteron receptors have changed? Could it lead to a worse prognosis? How optimistic should I consider such 19/22 lymph involvement? All replies appreciated.

After reading your posts I'd like to share my treatment experience at Marsden. DX Nov. 2012 ILC Grade2, 7cm ER+, HER- Been on Zoladex+Tamoxifen for many months, now the tumor size shrunk to - multyfocal fragmented 5cm. Ki67 initially 11% now gone down to 3%. Despite this my oncologist at Chelsea site suggested to go ahead with neoadjuvant 4EC + 4Taxol chemo which should start later this week. I thought that i like you would not benefit from chemo however they want me to try it before my surgery. Where at Marsden did you have your treatment, what team? Now I have to decide for or against chemo. Please write your thoughts if you can before I start chemo.

Seems it is a mysterious PAM50 test. We read about it in all media and internet sources BUT it is not available/offered in the UK no matter privately or not. Yet? Perhaps I am missing something.

Hi all, I'd like to ask to HAS anyone done PAM50 test and saw the result report either privately or on NHS? It seems all these tests, if to beleive media, exist only within the labs grounds and won't be available for us for along time. I've got a reply from Marsden: "we don't do PAM50", as of October, 2013. Would appreciate any feedback please.

Hi Rattles, thank you for your reply. Did you have a permanent implant or temporising one? What possible options would you have in terms of final reconstruction? It is a dilemma for me. Should I seek another surgeon opinion within the same hospital or elsewhere?

I am 40, been on endocrine neoadjuvant therapy since January with some about 30% shrinkage 6 cm. now. ER+PR+/initially Grade-2 Lobular/ Because of large footprint fragmented area on my last MRI scan breast conserving operation is not an option according to my surgeon. In August m y surgeon proposed to do a mastectomy with temporising implant reconstruction of my right breast . It is likely that I'd need then radiotherapy . Six weeks later, however, he firmly suggested a full mastectomy as the most appropriate option for me. Motivating that skin sparing has complications, wound infections etc. I am so scared even to visualize that I'd stay flat for many months before the reconstruction . Please let me know your experiences from both skin sparing and full mastectomies.

Hi,
Thank you for your prompt response. Been in contact with the Royal Marsden and told it is not offered as a routine treatment procedure there. Got some info from RGCC-Europe they offer chemotests not sure how reliable they are. I understood they send blood samples to Greece with the results back in 3 weeks. has anyone done or used them before? would it be acceptable by UK oncologists?

in april i am going to have neodjuvant chemotherapy EC + TAXOL . i am LBC ER+, HER2-
since Jan. on Tamox/zoladex which apparently not shrinking the tumor.
1. has anyone done Chemosensitivity Assay / test ?
2. is there any labs or med. establishments which offer RAD51 and or A207 gene tests?
any help appreciated.

Hi all,
Since Jan. I've been on endocrine Zoladex/tamox. therapy which apparently is not working /LBC ER+, HER2 neg. Now being prepared for neoadjuvant EC + Taxol chemotherapy.
1. Has anyone done Chemosensitivity Assay test before starting the chemo?
2. RAD51 and / or A207 gene tests. Are these tests available at all in the UK?
3. Where these tests can be done?
any help would be much appreciated.
