I havent started tax yet, but heard that dark polish will help UV. Then on last visit to chemo ward for EC 2 nurse mentioned that dark polish wont work. He also said that they can use Cold Gloves for my Tax - it is same principle as cold cap. Not sure if ne one else heard or used cold gloves and if they worked.

Hi all
Turned up at the Christie hospital yesterday expecting to have Hickman line fitted, but no it had been cancelled and no one had told me! Not only is it a 40 mile round trip but this cancelled my 2nd EC that was due today as they cant use/trust the veins in my hand . So now im booked in next tuesday 9am for Hickman line insertion and EC @ 11.30am. On the positive side Ive felt close to "normal" this week so a few more days felling like this will be nice. I took control yesterday and completely shaved my head - i had already shaved grade 3 a week ago but once it started to drop it was really itchy. So first outing with 'Sally' the wig today & no weird stares or looks from anyone.

Jenben i too am day 16 post 1st EC and my hair started to fall out couple of days ago, just when i gave it a tug. So today i shaved it to no 2 feels weird, but my son thinks i look cool! I have not noticed so much hair coming out now, i guess thats because its so much shorter. And yes my "Lady Garden" is shedding as well. Not looking forward to losing eyebrows & lashes.

So had my first chemo today ( actually it was yesterday as its 4am now) having prob sleeping, im assuming its steroids. I have felt nauseaus but not been sick, my tablets kicked in and feel better now. My veins not good so chemo nurse suggested i get hickman line put in before next session,which i agree sounds a good idea.
I know there are a few of us on here having just has our first seesion, hope your all ok

Just thought i would share my panic with you. I will be having my 1st chemo session on Friday so been trying to prep myself. I have just realised my passport runs out in January 2012 and im due to go visit family in Berlin next March. Quick get picture done BEFORE all hair disapears. I dont want a bald passport photo for next 10 years!Lol. And you cannot wear hat/scarf in pics either.

Hi ladies starting 4 x ec & 4 x tax 22 july. My onc has said i will be starting 1 year of herceptin after chemo has finished - is this the norm or can you have with chemo? He also offered me the hereceptin trial but not sure if i want to cut my chances so to speak.

I was also told by my BCN against using cold cap for the same reason as you i.e chemo wont treat my head area. I am having 1st appointment for treatment plan with ONC on thursday so i will ask him/her what they suggest and ill let you know.Good luck with your chemo

Hi ladies first time on here. I had leftmx and ANC 4 weeks ago, sent home next day with my lovely little bag of drains. Removed after 9 days and thats when my seroma started. Its been drained 6 times now but still producing 150ml on last visit. Also my mx wound has made its very own drain which leaks a lot and soaks me ( reminds me of when i was breast feeding). Just wondering what other peoples experiences of seroma have been, how long will it last?
