I honestly thought I was losing my mind. 18 months on various brands of Tamoxifen, side effects manageable, 2 days of Relochem and I am having constant hot flushes, swollen legs, headache and feeling so s**t. Glad I logged on this evening and read your post. Who should I get in touch with, GP or pharmacist to try and get it changed? I actually see my surgeon and BCN tomorrow for a check up, will ask them.

I had shingles in April, 9 months after lumpectomy and radio therapy. It was awful, never known such pain, had I known there was a vaccine I would have jumped at the chance!

Thanks for your sound advice. My hair loss was getting me down so much that when I saw my oncolgist a couple of weeks ago changed it to Tamoxofen (been on Letrozole since June) even though I am post menopause. Hair does seem better already, much less shedding. I have spent a fortune on shampoos and conditioner (Phylida M, excuse spelling is one) and I take a supplememt from Victoria Health.

Hi Jaybee, I know just how you feel. I see my onc next month and I intend to ask if Femara is any better, less aches and pains too. I am beginning to feel like a freak, hair thinning drastically, loss of libido being the worst part of all this. I don't want to mention the libido bit to any doctor, sick of being poked and prodded and baring my soul to the medical profession! I had to see a consultant in a different hospital between my BC diagnosis and my surgery and he could see from my notes I had been diagnosed with BC and insisted on examining my breast, even though I told him the lump was too small to feel, picked up by a mammogram. My husband was in the waiting room, wish I had asked him to come in with me, you feel so vulnerable in there, it was scary. Sorry for the rant, things must improve further down the line, we haven't come this far for nothing, chin (or in my case chins) up xxxx

Hi Jaybee, I have been on Letrozole for about 3 months and I am having exactly the same problems, as well as the aches and pains and hair shedding. Not been brave enough to post anything until I saw yours but I am beginning to feel the cure is worse than the illness, is it worth it to feel so low all the time. We have been married for many years and have always had a good, loving sex life but that has all gone, hope someone has some good suggestions, feeling very low xx

Hi Janro sorry to hear of your joint pain. I find that things are improving for me, been taking it for a couple of months now and the pains are not as frequent (usually early hours) or as bad. Hot flushes too, unless I am getting used to them. Worse thing for me is my hair is shedding, a lot! Amyone know of any supplements that may help?

Scarf worked fine, much better than the paper towel. They were much admired by the radiographers too, certainly 'broke the ice'! Last one tomorrow for me, hope all goes well for you x

Brilliant idea, will try it this afternoon. must be an improvement on the sheet of paper towel. I have been wearing the top you can roll down too but I like the idea of a bit more coverage with a scarf. (Off to choose which one!) x

It should have been my 5th session today but they were having major probs with the computer and after a 2 hour wait I was sent hom! Unavoidable I know but very frustrating, feeling a bit down and sorry for myself tonight, how silly is that.

Hi Maggie, I had my 2nd of 15 today, so far so good. I did take note of the advice from others on here and got a nice soft top (M & S) with some support which meant no struggling with bra fastening annd unfastening, it can just be rolled down at the last minute. Very nice young ladies today, leveryone is very kind and proffessional. (I was not too keen on the session where I was tattoed etc but the rad sessions havebeen better). My appointment today meany leaving home at 7 am so we had a lovely and very naughty breakfast in the cafe across the road afterwards, a treat - there has to be some perks! Oh no! Don't let my experience put you off! I must say that up until then everyone I have met throughout has been lovely (especially breatscare nurses) and I hope when I had my first actual radiotherapy on Friday they will be the same. I will report back then! Good Luck to you too x

Been for my first appointment today, having my tattoo etc and found it so daunting. Had I not read up on radio therapy and what to expect i would have been horrified at being told to 'undress to your waist now please' and being handed a 'modesty' cover of a tiny piece of paper by a young male a lot younger than my son. The young lady with him was also distinctly short on empathy. He gleefully told me that ladies 'well blessed' like myself may need a different machine and a lot more hassle and I was lucky the boss said it was 'ok'. No helping hand either when it was all over to pull myself upright (i have a back problem). I am absolutely dreading the next three weeks if it is going to be like today.

Just started on Letrzole, taking it for just over a week, and yes I have achy legs, painful too. I wake up in the early hours with awful pain down both legs and have pins & needles in my feet. Not sure if I am having hot sweats, the weather has been so hot! (Moment of sypathy here for my poor hubby if he has to go through another menopause, me throwing the duvet off in the middle of winter, him clinging onto a corner of it.
I hope the side effects get better the longer you take Letrozole?
