Hi ladies, I was wondering if anyone has been told they might have a faulty gene called TP 53. My BRACA testing came back as negative but consultant believes I could test positive for this gene due to strong family history. I need to decide whether I want to be tested for this gene, if it came back posivtive there would be a 60% chance of a new cancer returning. I need to decide if I need to know or not as I have been told that I would not be routinely screened other than my breast cancer screenings.

Thanks everyone. I have been given the option of having bilateral or single mx and have thought that it would be a good opportunity go down the reconstruction and reduction route. I have a final appt on monday to finalise options. There is a family history and would like to get on with things and move on as soon as possible.

Hi, i am due for mx in a couple of weeks but am finding it difficult to find post surgery bras in my size. I am 40h any bras i find tend to stop at f and those are limited, any help or advice would be appreciated.

I was diagnosed with bc on the 15 feb, i am awaiting mx. I haven't really been told anything about it apart from been oestrogen posotive and that i have 2 lumps one about 55mm and the other about 2.5mm. when were people told other information regarding grade and whther herception posotive etc. is it something that i will be told after the surgery.

Guess its time to tell you my story. I went to the gp back in february as I wanted to be referred back to the hospital as i had previously had appointment yearly as there is a family history, i had relalised that i hadnt been seen since 2010 and wanted to get back to my ppointments. I had no symptons or reasons for concern apart ffrom the family link. i was seen back in february and the dr said she was concerned because my nipple was slighly changed and she said that it was a sign of cancer. I had an ultra sound and they couldn;t see anything then a biopsy. afetr a week i was called back and told that i had cancer, after that I have had an lymph node biospy, mamogram and MRI. My lymph nodes are infected and I will have them all removed as part of my surgery. In addition to that my cancer is believed to be around 55mm and that there is a second oe around 25mm. I have been offered a mastectomy due to the factthat there is a family history and there are 2 lumps. I have an appointment with Plastic on 15 april to discuss reconstrutionoptions. Ideally i would like imediate reconstruction but am aware that may not e possible to to treatment sfter. I hav equite large breasts and and concerned about having nothing at all. I have to have my contraception implant removed becuase it is an oestrogen receptor, as i will be put on tamoxifen in the future.

hi, i'm 33 years old and have just been diagnosed with breast cancer. the first thing to remember is not google everything, not all the sites can be trusted and they cause to to worry more.
I have a family history. I was been seen yearly till 2010 and then it stopped i went to the gp to ask about genetics tests and then i was refered to the breast unit.
try not to worry too much, i think sometimes as we have previous experience we feel it is all ready written but remember progress.

Had appointment today with consultant. All results arein MRI, lymph node biopsy, mamaogram. lump is approximately 5 cm and another can be seen on MRI in different position. Lymph nodes biopsy reveal cancerous cells and will require all to be removed. have another meeting next week as have to think about things. I have been considering mx, consultant said it would not be unreasonable to consider and could remove the other breast as well, iam quite large and feel that i would be rather unbalanced if they only took one. due to family history i have high risk of it recurring.
should i have the other lump tested?
if it was positive for cancer the surgeon said that it would be very difficult to remove bother lumps with lumpetomy.
would mx just be the easy option? mx would reduce my risk of it returning again to only a couple of percent.
things are very tense at home, my partner does not want me to be dissapointed and upset

I had a ultra sound and lymphnode biopsy yesterday. I have had it on the lesft side but am expereincing pain on the right breast, is this normal does anyone have any avice.

Hi,
I am new to this site. I was toldon friday that I have invasive dutorol cancer. I still can;t quite belive it I only went to the GP to be refered as I haadn;t seen anyone sinc 2010. I had previously been seen due to family circumstance. I have read many threads on here and feel some sense thaat I may not be completly mad. I have to have MRI and further disucssions with docors. I am not sure what size or grade it is at the moment but have been told I will be having surgery at the end of March.
Any advice on how to tell my 13 year old, what should I tell him and what I should not.
