Thanks Moijan and everyone. Been for review . As expected my platelets have dropped from 39 to 24 which is still not good but not as bad. They are concerned about my HB as that has dropped further. So blood transfusion tomorrow and stop cape for a week with a view to start for a week again.Oncologist thinks the Meds are doing something but small and agreed with us that we need to give it some time rather than keep moving treatments. Oncologist said usually see some results after a month. He seemed slightly happier but we know the transfusion will deplete some of the platelets by next week. So not stressing as I know these things can take time. I have had people stopping me and saying I look well. My hubby said I look pale /yellowy . But I feel ok at mo just slightly out of breath when moving and blurred vision when looking in the distance I told Oncologistband wants me to get eye test first rather than refer me to a Specialist straightaway as it might just be glasses I need. So review again next week . Start getting into a routine. Just going to concentrate on other things if I can . My Daughter needs a dress so I am hoping to take her to a retail park so I haven't got to walk too far and my son has got something on at my local Church as he is in the air cadets. Thank you everyone. We will keep positive vibes going. A bit of retail therapy enjoy George. I will just try not to stress too much tomorrow . I had a better day today a local charity visited to me and are arranging a voluntary buddy who can do some ironing or minimal cleaning, or take me out for a coffee and help with hospital visits . Hi everyone think we need a group hug and thoughts with everyone. Thinking about you George and hope you have a nice time at Stratford. I know what you mean about people especially if you look ok but feeling rubbish. That is what helps with the forum that we can support each other. I am doing what was suggested trying to do something positive a day . Even if it just hoovering . My life is exciting lol. I said to my Hubby that I think because I am at home all the time I am not feeling motivated. We had lunch out yesterday which made me feel a better . I am just hungry at mo which I think is the steroids which I am coming off hopefully. Just having slight blurred vision when I look into the distance especially writing. Thanks everyone I will behave myself and not google lol. Yes George I have been on a waiting list with Penny Brohn as they do courses in my local area and thought it would help with relaxation etc. I was having some counselling at a Hospice that my son was accessing but that stopped as he is better. So trying to link with Macmillan to see what there is available. It did help me because I felt ai could just pour everything out and stopped me feeling too down . Feel still tired today and tried to tidy up. Thinking if I can start motivating myself. Things took longer and had to do School run as well. Tea is on so time to just sit for a bit . I don't know whether I mentioned but cannot get rid of this yucky taste in my mouth. Any suggestions ? I know what you mean about holidays as you darent plan anything just in case and has to be last minute. I asked my Oncologist for February as kids are off for a week . Told me I can't leave the country but can holiday in U.K. As long as I can get back. He said he could do me a letter if I needed the Hospital. We had to do this with my youngest when he was having Chemo just as a back up. I have said to the Hubby that we will book something for a couple of nights and it is something positive to focus on. Thank you George. Everyone has made me feel more positive. I need to take each day at a time and not let my mind runaway. Trying to . I am coming off steroids at the moment so don't know whether that is not helping. The youngest has gone to a Birthday Party so a couple of quiet hours. A Mum at the party has offered to drop Him off at home so that has helped. I will keep posted and info is helpful. Thank you Julie D. Have posted on other thread and Barton has responded. Made me feel a bit better as I felt on my own. I always want to know the plan and answers but realise that it is just trying different treatments first to see how I respond. At least no blood transfusion this week and I know my platelets will be rubbish on Thursday . See what they do next and they are keeping an eye on me which is good. I suppose I have to give it time and feel reassured about the ladies who have been taking same med. I will keep everyone posted as it may help Someone. Thanks Barton. Think you are right about being under stress at mo. Hubby is working extra shifts to cover the time he has had off with me. So he is grumpy and tired. Hi everyone especially Barton. Usually post on bone mets thread but started cap . Had a week off as affecting platelets so having one week on and one week off to see what happens. Restarted on Thursday and steroids been reduced one a day. Cap dose is two x twice a day but half strength. Just can't stop eating at monand so thirsty . A bit moody as well that is what my family are telling me lol ! Just feel tired and no motivation which doesn't work with my three active kids. Go for review on Thursday luckily no transfusions at mo for this week. Any advice /info would be great . At least it is slowly getting darker later. Just need some sunny nice weather. Thanks funnyface. I am leaning on Onc a bit but dreading what he will say. I feel as if I am a guinea pig. If I don't see any development I will arrange an appt with his boss but think he is struggling too. I don't think they are giving med enough time to work and just jumping to the present problem and elevating that symptom. I have always been awkward lol . Just trying to be realistic but not too negative or positive. I keep saying that they would not try different things if they did not think it would help. I will keep you posted. I feel that I don't want to be too negative as. The hormonal Meds kept me going so hoping Chemo or alternative med will stabilise me and buy me some more time. Funny though my high temps have stopped this week and wonder if it was transfusion or just a long virus . Just keep going on a daily basis and at least they are seeing me weekly. Even the receptionist recognises me and uses my first name. Think it would be great if we could have air miles or reward point system for the waiting time/visits to Hospital . Hi everyone have not been on for a while. Basically it has been up and down . My blood results are unstable and was due to start capectibine think that is how u spell it. But because my platelets are low -19 one week and HB low. So one week I have had blood transfusion which has affected platelets . So following week small dose of vincristine Chemo to nudge platelets. Onc doesn't know what to do as complicated. So I said I am not on any significant treatment and could be still like this for the next few weeks so agreed to start Chemo tabs for 2 weeks and one week off. Went for review after one week and platelets dropped to 18 so stopped Chemo tabs put me on steroids for a week and small dose of vincristine. Been for review today expecting transfusion. Onc said they are struggling with what to do. I get scared because I don't want to hear him say nothing else they can do . Blood results came and platelets are 39 which have not been for weeks. Onc has put me back on Chemo tabs but for one week on and one week off. Said platelets won't be good next week. Just want to keep going and feel fed up especially with holiday plans etc people are making. I know it is not their fault just cross with the illness. Is anybody had similar experience ? Sorry to be fed up but as usual putting a brave face on for family who I know are worrying . Thinking of everyone and just need some nice weather. Hi Ladies, we have just finished putting tree/decks away. Never go back the same. Hubby has cleaned though and for now living room looks tidy. Temp played up last night went up to 38.5 took paracetamol and settled. Just done temp and it is starting to rise again. I will give Hospital a ring if it continues. In a good note my chest is starting to feel better but I have rested. Back to normal tomorrow. Two of my kids are back at School tomorrow and the youngest in Wednesday. Hi everyone, my naughty high temps are still ongoing. It seems to go high during the evening especially night before a Onc appt. Went for review after repeating myself several times I am still having issues with high temp he said I can't start treatment. He said I needed another blood transfusion which I had yesterday . Inc would not prescribe anymore antibiotics and said to see what happens . It is already gone to 38.1 so had paracetamol to see if it settles again . I darent ring the Hospital as they will tell me go in . My hubby is working nights tonight and tomorrow night and is worrying over his job. I can't leave my youngest son at home. It is a vicious circle feel I am not getting anywhere. Sorry rant over. Hope Ff you get to see your Onc soon . I am the same the one I see from the team is vague and won't make any decisions. Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas and best wishes for the New Year. Had an overnight stay last Thursday as had a high temp. Felt I was wasting their time as antibiotics were changed that day so can't start Chemo tablets . Being reviewed tomorrow and hoping to start Meds . Guess what temp is playing up a bit . Always seems to be in the evening . Don't know why ? Just want to get started . Just keep eating the chocolates . Trouble is kids always leave the horrible ones ! Hi everyone, my thoughts are with Ellie's family at this difficult time xxxx I have seen Onc today and in a nutshell , the Chemo is not working and depleting platelets . So I am starting on Capectibine Chemo tablets . Feel happier seeing him and trying not to worry. Starting with half strength first and reviewed in 7 days. Then will increase if it is having any effect. So need to be careful of any bumps etc. Just have to keep fighting this xxx ... View more

Hello everyone and hello to Catherine. I went to see my Oncologist yesterday and said my platelets were 28 on Thursday and increased to 31 on Friday . He said they had dropped to 30 yesterday . Oncologist said they have a dilemma to whether give me Chemo or not. iIt could be either the disease or the Chemo that is ldepleting the platelets. The Onc could not really give me any answers so felt really rubbish after. So my Hubby not happy and we have made an appt with the Professor who is above him tomorrow. Making a list of questions and want to know the plan. Think sometimes Oncologists forget that you are living with this and have to deal with what/how they tell you things. So trying not to worry. It might be awkward tomorrow as Oncologist I saw yesterday is in clinic . But if it means us getting some answers it will be worth it . Ff like your snowy pictures. Really Christmassy . Think we are all the same that the cold plays havoc with painful hips etc . Stay in the warm. Cannot believe a few more days and back to normal . Kids are very excited just glad my hubby as managed to swap his shift Christmas Eve night.. he has had to work the last two years and I have worn myself out trying to get everything done. Hi everyone, well had blood tests done and platelets are up a bit so not transfusing platelets. So I can stay at home and get some presents wrapped. Always creeps up on me ! Have to go back on Monday for more blood tests and review by Oncologist . So may have some more Vincristibe. Just really tired and was in bed early last night but felt nauseous .
