Hi Doz So sorry it's sad news that brings you back to the thread. Sincere sympathy to Emmy's family. When I last posted I'd not long had my reconstruction op. Unfortunately on 28 Feb this year I was diagnosed with leukaemia (ALL) - such a shock, I'd just been on holiday and felt really well. So I've had Chemo again and now awaiting stem cell transplant. Our thread started by you Doz was such a lifeline for me - it really helped me. ive not found it with Macmillan leukaemia thread - a bit depressing so not continued with that. We went through an awful lot and the thread was brilliant for all of us I'm sure. Love to all Stella xx

Hi Jane On 3 February last year had the latismussis dorsi (spelt wrong I know)! It's where they use the muscle from you back it is quite a big op, was off for six weeks but only in hospital 3 days. I then had nipple reconstruction & fat transfer in June- just day surgery. I've not had any problems touch wood! I had a session with BCN as well as consultant to discuss it, look at photos, and also spoke to a volunteer who'd had same op - good support.. But obviously it's a personal decision. really hope the weather improves for you for Mull! It's awful here today.. Could be an afternoon watching the rugby!! Stella xx

Hi Jane/Doz Late response but I've been on holiday! Had a lovely time. Really pleased your check went well Jane, out of the way for 1 more year. My next one is end of April and then one more. Reconstruction not for everybody but I am pleased with mine. Good on you getting a bike & booking your holidays. Lots to look forward to. Doz I'll also be pleased when off letrozole - my memory is awful, hoping it won't get any worse once off medication. Takecare both - happy days. Stella xx😀

Hi Jane/Doz Nice to hear from you both. So sorry about your sister Doz - must be very hard for you. good news about Vicky- on the up and up. Good for her! Glad you're taking it easier with 2 shifts - finally! How's Dan doing? You've both got checks coming up then - I'm sure they will be fine 👍🏻. I had my LD flap reconstruction done in February, now having nipple tatto done. My middle son has been working in Dubai since May- he came home Saturday for 10 days over Christmas.. We've just been into Leicester doing his Christmas shopping!! Hope you both have a lovely Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.. Stella xxx

Hi angibobs what did the onc team say then? my memory's no better you just have to get on with it don't you? But I did speak to my surgeon last month and she said it is the medication not chemo as that would be out of my system by now. At my hospital they're trying to setup an 'After ClinIc' for the problems we have after treatment has ended which I thought was a good idea. BCNs are good but they're so busy all the time. im still doing the list, notebooks everywhere then can't remember where I've put them - it's so frustrating! But actually reading this thread has made me feel better - year and a bit to go for the five years. Will it improve then do you think? katieb

I've just found this thread on the new website - I thought it was only me! I've looked at the link and that's me. I was also worried about dementia but feel much better now in a way. I work in a care home and see the elderly with dementia & sometimes actually think is that me. I use a pill box too and there are days when I forget my tabs completely. I do try to slow down and not fill my head with too much. I finished treatment in January 2012 so haven't got too long left on letrozole.. Will the memory etc improve then? I hope so but if not will live with it - thankfully. Take care ladies xx

Hi ladies - I think I've forgotten how to post! Had to change password then couldn't get back to page so hope this post appears! Jane well done on doing race for life - hope it won't be too hot! Janice - so glad to hear you and Phil are ding well & you've got the all clear - I've got another year yet. And doz - our inspiration or certainly mine - I don't know what I'd have done without some of your wise words. I'm sorry to hear thyroid has been sorted yet. It's not fair but such is life I suppose. I had myreconstruction op in February which I'm very pleased with & was in for day surgery last week for nipple reconstruction & tidy up. It's amazing the things they can do.. My middle son Tom & his girlfriend Leanne moved to Dubai in April to work - missing them but looking forward to a holiday there later in the year. I wish all of our butterflies well & will carry on checking in. Stella xxxxx

Hi Jane I was worried yesterday as I'd got some fluid in my back but got worse yesterday & was very uncomfortable. But rang hosp & going up there today to have it drained off. Also haven't had much support from my other half with this op which hasn't helped. But I have to say the actual Op went well and it's looking tons better than my original implant don't be put off. Make the most of your two weeks off - it looks lovely but cold out there today. Big hug to all who need one! Stella xx

Hi little lady We all know how you're feeling - we' ve all been there.. It does take time & you will get there probably after even more tears! I know I've shed lots! I'm 5 weeks post op after delayed reconstruction & I've had a bad day- tears again. I hope you've got good friends around you like I have. I have used the somrone like me service regarding my op and my volunteerwas great so that might be something to consider. Big hug to you & keep posting. Doz - don't go rushing back to work too soon which is something I think we all do. Jane - hope things go well for you. Janice - so pleased to that you and Phil are doing well. Big hug Stella

Hi Fizzb Im 4 weeks post op having delayed reconstruction of LD flap so obviously not same as you but Im definitely feeling a lot better. I had same problems for first two weeks but its now a lot better. Its not a build up of fluid is it that needs draining? That would cause the tigtness. I saw my surgeon on Tuesday and she said I still had a little fluid in my back which may not disperse so I'll have it drained if its still there in 4 weeks. I also came home with a stronger painkiller Dihydrocodeine which I stopped during the day but did take one at night for about three weeks to help me sleep. Im still waking up now but not in pain just slightly uncomfortable and do get back to sleep. I hope this helps. xHugx

Hi francine I didn't have a specific BC nurse but would just ring the number & leave a message and have always had a callback. On your appt card it also gives you the number of your consultants secretary and I have alsorang them before as well. Try ringing before 9 eg 8.30ish. Hope you're recovering well xx

Hi Elsa great need about the mammo. I'm just about yo ho into hospital on Tuesday for removal of my implant and have LD flap done. My implant has been quite badly affected by the radiotherapy. Originally they didn't think I'd need rad which is why had immediate implant - but I did @ chemo as well. Anyway saw consultant in October who suggested ld flap, gave me lots of info, then few weeks later saw BC nurse who went thru it all again & showed me photos & gave me a video to watch. BCC have also put me in touch with a volunteer who's had same op which has been very helpful. Saw consultant again 15/1 & booked for Tuesday 3/2. She did say the best one was the tram diep but still get very good result from LD flap. But it is a big op and can be off 6-12 weeks. Obviously if my plant was ok I wouldn't consider it but ovr got to have an op so decided to go for it. Hope that hasn't confused you more! Welcome to our new ladies Stella xxx (original one)! We now have 2! PS Snow has cleared here in Leicester - hope its not too bad for everyone else.

Poor Daniel! Can't believe it when it's on your own doorstep! Wishing him a speedy recovery. Hope they got the thugs. I get my CT scan results on Thursday for the nodule on my lung - hoping to be discharged. Then see surgeon on 15/1. My plant has to come out at RT affected it quite badly do having back flap recon I think. Janice hope you and Phil are ok and everyone else of course. We went yo Lanzarote for Xmas - very nice. Came back to snow at east Mids airport & diverted to B'ham! Happy New Year ladies - hope its a good one for all of us. Stella xxxx

Hi all Janice you can't actually believe it can you - shame it's true. Hope all you appointments go well and you have the lovely Christmas you both deserve. That must be a record Doz! But great news for you. Jane glad everything worked out well for you and very envious of your fab weekend. I went to BC nurse about my op. she was very good went thru everything and showed me photos of good and not so good results. Also gave me DVD to watch not looked at that yet! I've for CR scAn next week for my chest - hope they'll discharge me this time. We're trying to sort our Xmas holiday at mo - my hubby insists on getting late deal!
