Ginette thanks for replying. I am on a real downer just now and that is not like me. I have been unwell since 24 October and just don't seem to be able to pick myself up. I have breast, spine and liver mets, first diagnosed November 2011. I have had 4 types of chemotherapy and started Exemesatne on 20 October. Until last month I have tolerated everything pretty well but now !!!!!!!! The only good news is that after a thorough examination by the GP she declares that apart from the dry cough, the inner ear infection, the lack of appetite and the tummy problems I am very well and the cancer is stable. I just wish I felt better.

Help please ladies. Having completed 10 reduced doses of Eribulin I have been put on Exemestane and appear to be suffering quite a few side effects, extreme tiredness, tummy problems and a dry cough being the worst. Does anyone have any advise to offer following their own experiences? Rose-Red

Hi Kimi my hair started falling out five days after my day one cycle one dose of Erubilin. My neutrophils were 0.1 and I didn't get my day 8 dose. Instead my Onc reduced the dose by 20% and I get day one dose only followed by five daily G-CSF injections starting on day three of the 21 day cycle. This has worked well and I have just had cycle 7. My latest CT scan showed everything stable. You may want to go to the Bone Metz thread as this is where most of the wonderful forum ladies post, not all have bone lesions and not all are on Eribulin but you will get loads of support. Rosie x

Thank you to everyone who replied re the e/e drugs. Marirose I have 4 more cycles of Eribulin and further CT scan before Onc decides next plan. I will let you know if/when I go on this combo. Good luck to all awaiting results and treatments this week I read the posts everyday and take great inspiration from you all. I realise that it is okay to have a downer, to rant against this evil disease, to be anxious, scared, angry but most of all I appreciate the good days. Well off to see Onc again today to arrange chemo for tomorrow. Bye for now x

Thinking of Helen and others having a bad time at the moment. I had my CT scan last Wednesday following my 6th cycle of Eribulin (day 1 dose only ar 20% reduction) and the Onc confirmed today everything stable - what a relief. He has agreed to a further 4 cycles and then another scan and review. He mentioned the possibility of going on to two drugs both beginning with E in the future. I remember seeing a post on here where somebody mentioned being on e/e and was wondering if they could tell me what the drugs are called. My OH was taking notes but we couldn't work out afterwards what the Onc had said!!! Rosie.

Is there anyone out there who is ER+,PR+, HER2 - and has secondaries to spine and liver? I was diagnosed in 2011, have just been told I have had my last cycle of Eribulin (my fourth type of chemo) and am awaiting CT results. My previous results showed bone mets stable but liver results were inconclusive. Feeling very nervous. Rose

StressheadI do not have a portacath but I do have a line in my chest as my veins have had enough in my one good arm, they did try to put a PICC line in my arm but that proved impossible. It is so much easier having blood taken and receiving chemo through the line. The only downside is the line has to be flushed once a week, this is done at the hospital on chemo day and by a home visit from the district nurse on the following two weeks. I was knocked out whilst it was done and the entry point in my neck was a little sore for a couple of days afterwards. I hope this helps. Rosie

Hi Stresshead I am sorry you have been on a downer, we've all been there and know how you feel. Some ladies are TNBC but I am ER8/PR5 and HER2 neg, I too had Letrozole which didn't work for me. I have just had 4th cycle of Eribulin, I am on a reduced dose and only having the day 1 dose which my body is tolerating. Fatique seems to be main SE on this chemo and I have to make sure I pace myself which makes life easier. Rosie

Hi Stringbean Sorry to hear you are unable to start the new Finesse trial - this journey is such a roller coaster. I am sending cyber hugs to you. I have had Fec-T, Paclitaxol, Capcetabine and am now on Eribulin, over the last month I have had a pretty rough time, due to a heavy cough and cold which would not budge, but today's scan results show the drug is working. I have not suffered any sickness just tiredness which is manageable, I just pace myself. I did loose my hair but it has started to grow back again. Whilst I don't always piost I read the threads every day and the ladies in this forum keep me sane. Please keep fighting and posting. Rosie

Hi Helen. Sorry to hear that you are having such a bad time this cycle. Sometimes the SEs and the drugs we take to control them are worse then the chemo. But as you say if it means that the chemo is doing its job we can cope. Rosie xxxx

Hi Elly I am sorry to hear that the Cape is not working for you and that you are going to start Eribulin. Please remember that not everyone has the same side effects and that our minds and bodies cope differently. I have only had 2 doses of Eribulin, I have lost most of my hair, my white cell count became very low, so I am having G-CSF injections and I am extremely tired for about 3 days after the dose. The rest of the time I manage very well and am able to do everything I want to, however I am retired so have plenty of time. I find this site invaluable when niggles, questions and yes fears arise there is always someone who can help. Rosie xx

Helen, so sorry to hear you are suffering with mouth ulcers and oral thrush, let's hope the "stuff" from the GP works. You need to eat to keep your strength up. I hope your Onc agrees to resume your treatment on Thursday. I will be thinking of you. Rosie x

Finally my white cells have improved and I will have my line inserted and chemo on Thursday..I have missed dose 2 cycle one and my Onc has decided to reduce the dose by 20% and only give one dose per cycle followed by 5 days of G-CSF injections. I am just relieved that my body has recovered and that treatment can start again.. I have lost my hair all bar a few stubborn strands and one foot has a spilt in the heel which is being moisturised and cling filmed 3 times a day. Apart from that I am feeling so much better. I hope scan results, treatments and appointments go well for everyone this week. Try to find time to enjoy the sunshine if you are lucky enough to see it. Rosie x
