Hi Annielen, was at hospital this morning, tumour is small measuring 15mm & is hormone receptive, herceptin negative ( which i am led to believe is positive news) am having lumpectomy & sentinel node biopsy on Xmas Eve & then probably 3 weeks of radiotherapy providing not in nodes & tumour not bigger than thought & tamoxifen for 3 to 5 yrs, so a better start to the journey than i had dared hope for.xxx Really hope its good news for you & P.S I love Annie lennox 😉 xx ... Hiya, 1st appointment is pre op assesment, 2nd SNB injection/mapping 3rd X ray, 4th insert of wire, this one is day before op so am slightly concerned about spending 24hrs at home with a wire in my chest 😞 & 5th Operation removal of nasty not invited thing 🙂 a little cofuzzled as am sure doctor had said that dye & wire would be put in on day of op yet the dye is going in 2 days before & wire day before, oh dear, yet another question to ask my poor BCN tomorrow, will let you know how it goes.xxx ... P.s, i did see the lump on ultrasound but to be honest it just looked like a black hole & it made about as much sense as when i was pregnant & they pointed out arms, legs etc, i failed biology too 🙂 lol.xx ... View more

Hi Annielen, I like Sophie got told after the ultrasound, i had the mammo on the Thursday a letter on the Saturday asking me to come in on the Tuesday for an ultrasound where i was told lump that i had discovered in right boob was fine but they had found something more of concern in left boob, was slightly shocked as couldnt & still cant feel anything in that one, they then decided whilst in ultrasound to do biopsy straight away & it was at that point i asked for them to be honest with me as to its seriousness, i was told 99.8 % sure that it was indeed a problem, the biopsy was sent straight off before i even got dressed & they had the results 2 days later (last Thursday) when it was confirmed it was Bc, for me i am actualy glad that i asked at the ultrasound as in a way it took a little off the edge of the shock on Thursday, have been told that i am "lucky" strange word but indeed i am as had i not found lump in right i would not of had left checked out & it looks & sounds that they have caught it very early, what i will say to you though is that there is always hope as I did & still do have a LARGE lump in my right boob but it is not cancerous 🙂 I truly hope that they are able to give you as much info as soon as possible as i agree with everyone on here that the waiting is the worse part. Hi Deb, i have appointment to see her at the hospital, I will of had biopsy done exactly a week tomorrow so fingers crossed for both of us on everything. Hi Annielen, sorry to hear that you are having to go through the anxiety etc that you are at the moment & I totally understand as I too have just had 2 of the worst weeks of my life sitting & waiting for test results & when waiting, time truly does seem stop:( I cant comment on the outcome as having only been diagnosed on Thursday I truly do not know or understand enough (even about my own Dx) what i do know is everyone on here will be rooting for good news for you & if its not the news wanted then please know it is not the end of the world as so much can be done & you will be able to talk & seek support from the wonderful people on this forum who have been a godsend to me over the last 3 days. Can totally understand the no sleeping thing, I feel like a zombie, am guessing that night time is the perfect time for every conceivable worry to invade your head & I hope that as time goes on this too will become easier. Hi Anna, My daughter is 20 & then i have 3 boys 16,12 & 11. thank you for your kind words. Gwendoline i know exactly what you mean, i think us mums always worry however old they are, my dad still makes me ring to say i am safe, bless him & I am 40. Sophie, she is indeed a star, dont know what I would do without her, she has been a tower of strength to me & i cant believe how brave she was when i was told as i am sure i nearly cut the blood supply off to her arm the way I was squeezing her hand. Hi Alison, Am glad you have not had & are not in too much pain. Lorraine, I keep looking at that user name & thinking how depressing but not sure how to change it, also am guilty of looking like some kind of spy,lol, was so desperate to get onto forums that i couldnt think straight but then saying that, I dont often think straight anyway as am all over the place most of the time. Am glad everyone is feeling ok, I am off now to tackle clearing the spare room as have my gorgeous daughter moving home next Sunday which I am very excited about, she had planned to move before Thursday's news & am glad to be having her home as for the last 2 weeks she has been driving up & down to Bournemouth from Devon to be with me at appointments & of course like any mum i worry until she arrives/returns home safely as she is only 20 & hasnt had licence long & the roads have been so bad this last week, she has also been a treasure at taking her 2 small brothers under her wing & giving lots of cuddles & reassurance, i dont know what i would do without her 🙂 Any way, speak soon, hope you all have a good day.Sarah.xx ... Hi Everyone, have just been reading through the posts on this thread, i think i have spoken with a cpl of you on a different thread but just wanted to say how happy & friendly your posts all sound & what a help it has been to me since my DX on Thursday. Yesterday was my 1st down day since finding out & reading all your posts helped me so much & actually made me smile, so thank you all of you was just what i needed. I have an appointment on Tuesday with BCN & have managed to organise myself into writing down the questions that have come to mind the last cpl of days, am obviously praying for good news on the receptor tests & am crossing everything, am not looking forward to surgery on Xmas Eve WLE & Sentinel lymph Node Biopsy but have decided not to not concentrate on the date as lets be honest is any day a good day. Hi Deb, have had my cry, feeling a bit better now for doing it. Did you find that after your Dx you read up on loads of information even bits that didnt affect you as thats what i have done & think i have an information overload as am worrying about things that have never even been mentioned yet. I also find it hard to talk with family & friends as everytime they ask how iam I say i am fine as dont want them to think that i am not coping or being negative, everyone i speak to tells me the same thing " Be positive" am getting to really dislike that expression 😞 this is where this forum becomes so useful. On a lighter note, the sleep over went fine & all still asleep at the moment am guessing due to the late night they had & am now one more day closer to seeing BCN to get some of my questions answered 🙂 Take care & enjoy your Sunday Sarah.xx ... Hi Deb & Jo, thank you for replying, it makes such a difference to have people out there that know what you are going through. I feel a lot calmer since reading your reply's & am defiantly going to write down my questions ready for the Nurse on Tuesday. i dont think I have ever in my life felt the way that i am feeling right now, am very down tonight but am guessing that is probs because i havent had a cry since being diagnosed. On Thursday & Friday I felt strangely calm & seemed to get caught up in having to tell family/children & reassuring them but today is a real down day, I feel like something has picked me up & swirled me round & I just want to get off as i dont like it 😞 My little boy has been brill today trying to help me feel better, he decided to sit down & fill in the booklet given to me by the hospital in his "best writing" however this resulted in me madly fighting back the tears AGAIN however am sure tonight I will be kept busy as 3 of the children have a friend each for a sleep over 🙂 I must be mad but had already agreed before Thurs DX & at the end of the day I am not ill & want to try & keep things as normal as possible. Hi all, I have been directed to this forum as a newly diagnosed younger person ( Just !!) I seem to be a little older than the rest of you as I am 40 but a very young at heart 40 🙂 Am so nervous about everything as was only told yesterday & now typically at the start of the weekend i have a million & one questions that will just have to wait till I see the Breast care nurse on Tuesday. When diagnosed yesterday I rambled on so much through nerves i think, that I actually dont even remember the type of BC that i have, until coming on here I thought Bc was Bc, just one type for all, how wrong i am ! I do know that it is a small lump & am pretty sure the word lobular was used & that after lump taken out & nodes examined i may require radiotherapy but they said something about waiting for reactor test results, can anyone tell me if these results are found from the biopsy already taken or will I have to wait for my op. I appreciate that alot of these questions will be answered on Tuesday but it feels so far away, i wish i had asked more yesterday but i felt so rushed, because of the snow the consultant was covering 3 different clinics & I had to keep waiting for him to pop in & out room which is why when he got diary out i agreed to op on the 24th as I didn't even register that its Xmas Eve till after, not the best day with 4 children but maybe sooner out is better than in. I also know they used the word invasive. Am also worried that as i originally went for quite a large lump in my right breast which turns out after being ultrasound is nothing to worry about but through standard procedure of checking other breast that is where my problem is which I cant feel at all am now worried what if they haven't checked the big lump properly & it is something awful & if it isn't how will i know if it does start to change as am constantly going to be touching/feeling it. Sorry if i am rambling but as you can see from the time I just cant sleep with the worry of it all, would appreciate any comments as have moved area in August away from all friends & family & feel quite alone, night times are definatly worse 😞 ... Hi, Thank you all for replying it is so reassuring to know we are all in this together & not alone, so glad I found this site. I have met with the BC nurse as she was in the room with the doctor when I received my diagnosis but was quite late in the day so I think that may be why she has made an appointment for me to go back & see her on Tuesday morning when i am sure I will learn more, just so hard to process all the information that they gave me yesterday as there were 5 different people in the room all talking about different stages of treatment but as i said am sure Tuesday will be slightly more relaxed, I hope that's the right word but am sure you get my meaning 🙂 Sarah.x ...
