Hi Carol12 Scarlet hasn't been on-forum a few years, so may not reply. I'm so sorry you're having such mental problems. I too found it worsened my mental state, so took myself off it after 2 months. My attitude was, I'd rather have a better quality of life without it and take the risk. I'm not suggesting you do the same, but have you thought to just try having a break from Tamoxifen for a couple of months, see if you improve? If you're hesitant to, you could have a chat with your BCN or Onco first? Depression IS clearly listed in its side effects leaflet, so you probably won't be their first. I DO think that certain women are that much more sensitive to hormone changes than others, or produce more or less of them. For instance, I used to have terrible PMT every month when I had periods. It was like being Schizophrenic for a week (!!), then as soon as my period started, I was absolutely fine! Most of my friends didn't get PMT, so why did I/why was that? And Why are "some" women okay on Tamox, "don't" get depression etc, and others aren't and DO?? Same with Menopause, why do some women have frequent hot flushes (me) and other symptoms, and others don't, or just mildly? With the onset of my "natural" Meno a few years after my Tamox attempt, rather than brought on by it, I went into an ongoing mental decline. Maybe also due to a combination of other major life traumas/losses as well, dunno. But "I" do seriously wonder if my current mental state (diag Bi-Polar 2017, but probably before then) was/is primarily due to the hormone changes? Can't help feeling you being similar, in the depression sense, but more Tamox related to the alteration of your hormone levels??? From a natural Menopause point of view (as opposed to Tamox brought on), but wishing to continue on the hormone inbalance theme because of the same effects that Tamox can also cause - It isn't surprising, that so many women jumped on the HRT bandwagon years ago, proclaiming it a miracle drug by those who experienced severe Menopausal symptoms, even suicidal thoughts. Then . . . it was suddenly linked to increasing the risks of Cancer, so removed. But has since been scientifically re-evaluated as not doing, and had a massive increase in popularity again, using newer types of "Body identical" oestrogen and progesterone that have been developed. Here's an interesting and brill article: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-10752561/The-shortage-menopause-drugs-isnt-niche-feminist-issue-argues-MARIELLA-FROSTRUP.html It illustrates the drastic effects Meno can produce for certain women. Have a read. I hope something helps you to feel better soon, Carol. Lotsa love to you, Delly xX❤️Xx
