I had same op as you in August and I too am now begining to suffer pain in my breast. I can feel the implant at the side, it feels like bubbles and that's the bit that hurts. The surgeon told me it was the implant that i could feel and he didn't seem too bothered by it being in this position or the fact that it hurt, so I guess it's normal. it's really difficult to know what to do isn't it? I don't want to be complaining if it's just going to take time for all the nerve pain to settle but on the other hand, I don't want to ignore something that isn't right. ... View more

I had my rads (20 of them) at The Western in Edinburgh and their advice is not to use anything until therapy is complete. I never used any cream until they gave me the aqueous cream on the last day and I have had very little reaction in my skin - a little rough and itchy now but during the treatment - nothing. Kirsty, I drove myself there each day - roughly 30min drive there and back and I felt absolutely fine, in fact I quite liked having something constructive to do during that time. I must say though, I was really tired in the week following completion of treatment - bit better this week. Hi I had an LD flap 4 weeks ago and I felt exactly like you but coming on here definately helped me to feel better about the op beforehand and to cope with the different stages post op. I was in hospital for 5 days and came home with 2 drains, which were removed after 2 days. I have had the fluid drained a further 3 times (this is painless) and I am hopeful that it wont need drained again. I have had full movement of my arm since day 1 and have not experienced any real pain. It is still swollen around the breast and I can still feel the muscle under my arm and although this is fairly annoying, I have been told I should see big improvements at between 8 and 12 weeks post op, so I am looking forward to that. The wounds have all healed very well but my back feels a bit strange - not sore exactly, just strange. I started to drive last week and am back to my usual fairly quick pace walking the dog. So, although everyone heals and copes differently, hopefully you will recover well and be back to your old self and life quickly. Hi Evelyn I had an mx and LD recon carried out at St Johns on 20th Aug. still trying to come to terms with it but on the whole it was not nearly as bad as i had imagined it would be. It's early days yet and it still has to settle so at the moment i am pretty lopsided but I must say, I have relatively little scarring on my breast -really just around the nipple - not sure how they managed to get everything in and out such a small area but very grateful they did - my surgeon was lovely - really nice and easy to talk to and very caring - I understand we are not allowed to mention professionals by name on this site. Thank you Tina and Topsymo, your comments are both encouraging and helpful.I am, in general being really positive about the whole thing but every day I have a moment of terror where I want to just hide under a tree! Hi I am also going for an mx in a couple of weeks and mine too will be using tissue from my back. I am all over the place at the moment, I just can't get my head around it all - 3 weeks ago all was well then i got the momogram results! I was told it's grade 1 but unfortunately because there are 3 little bits the area that needs to be removed will mean a lumpectomy will not be possible -strange because I always thought I had quite a big bust but apparently I don't! I agreed to a back flap op, at least it felt like I was agreeing to it but in reality, I think I just switched off as soon as the doc mentioned an mx. Now I don't know what to do, I am thinking that implants would be better as the recovery time seems to be a lot less but then I think I don't want to look lopsided. I read a book which explained it all in an easy to understand way and I changed my mind back to back flap but today........... I am just a mess again. However, I just happen to be a Cambridge weight plan consultant and I can answer your question - if your doctor is happy to sign your medical record form and you meet the other criteria, which your consultant will explain to you, it could be ok - you will find your nearest consultant on Cambridge weight plan website. hope this helps Madge ...
