i asked on behalf of a friend who is on Herceptin at the moment, she felt a small lump in the other breast, and of course you panic. It was checked yesterday Mamo/ultra and was nothing sinister, thank god.

Hi all,

I am lucky that most of my friends do not smoke,and,yes it's great to go out for a drink knowing that the pub/restaurant is smoke free and i don't come home smelling like an ashtray, it was brill when the smoking ban came in.My treatment was not wide spread, but i guess if they zap a bit of your lung when they give Radio, it must make you wary?? I think once you have had a cancer diagnosis most people become a bit paranoid about there health, thankfully i have been okay for nearly 6 years, but i still panic if i get the odd ache,cough, etc. i guess maybe i am just a born worrier!!!!

Hello everyone, I wondered if anyone who has had radiotheraphy treatment was told to avoid inhailing other peoples ciggie smoke? I finished treatment in 2005 and since then will not tollerate people smoking around me, alot of people think i am making a fuss about nothing.I am sure i remember a nurse saying that once you have had Radio for B.C it weakens your lungs and you are more prone to lung problems? maybe i dreamt it. I shall still chase smokers away (best be on the safe side)Don't get me wrong if people want to smoke that is up to them, just wish people would be a bit more condiderate when in a none smokers company!!!would appreciate your comments, Love and best wishes to you all. XX

Hi every one. I am playing the waiting game at the mo.I have just had my 5 year mamo the mamo lady said the experts would look at the x/rays and i would get a letter within the next 2 weeks, i am worried beause i have never been told i will get a letter before, i think she could tell i was a stress head, she did say you look really well, my friend thinks she would not have said you look really well if i was stood there with cancer. My BC nurse always gets my results as quick as she can for me as she knows what a state i get into, thankfully she will be back from holiday on Monday. The Mamo ladies are well trained they give nothing away. opinions please.

Heck, you sound an ugly bugger, so look on the bright side the only way is up, and from what you have said in your case, Up-UP-UP. I do know what you mean. i am 59 and people think i am about early fifty's and i went through chemo/rads big time, i looked awful but as time moves on you will possibly end up as good looking as i do now. how about that then. take care.

my word those radiographer's are well trained, i have been for my yearly mamo today (3rd year) i thought i will look right into her eyes and will be able to tell if there is any problems (think again lady) they give nowt away, even there body language tells you nothing 000000OOOOOOOOOOH it's so frustrating, any one got any tips to sus the b*gg*rs out. now i have to go throught that horrible waiting for results, is'nt it awful.

Hi one and all. i wondered if there was anyone out there that has ever been diagnosed with a medullary tumour of the breast? and maybe had a recurrence at some stage. i was diagnosed with a medullary in 2005 (so far so good fingers crossed) they say it is very rare for a recurrence of this type of tumour, i just wondered what the score/treatment was if it did come back?

yes christineMH. i did a bit of research after starting this thread and you are correct after having rads it does make your lungs more sensitive in general to substances/toxins. one thing that amazed me when i was sat in the waiting room waiting to go in for my chemo i could often smell that some of the other people in there waiting for chemo had just had a ciggy, i always thought that was such a shame. Hi everyone, some where in the back of my mind i am sure i read somewhere that once you have had B.C. you become more prone to getting lung cancer (i do not mean mets) ie, breathing in other peoples second hand smoke, or indeed being a smoker (which i am not) the point is since having breast cancer diagnosed in 2005 i will not go any where/stay with people that smoke (thank god for the ban in England) my partner of 20 years thinks i go over the top (tough) my partners family are all chain smokers so when we have to visit for family occasions that come up i book into a hotel near by, as i cannot stand there smokey house. Would anyone else be like me ?
