Hi, I came on here in search of anyone experiencing the lack of DOMS after exercise and was excited to see your post. Unfortunately, reading the details in your post I'm guessing that you are my friend the massage therapist and we both know each other and have already shared our problem and thoughts! Small world LOL How funny (assuming you are who I think you are CE) but I'm surprised and disappointed that there have been no other replies. Surely we can't be the only ones to have this experience.! Or maybe my dreams came true and chemo has given us our own superpower! Hi, I don't know if anybody will be interested, but I have started writing a few of my thoughts about my own experience with BC. It is a more light hearted view of the whole boring and nasty experience of being diagnosed and having to go through chemo and surgery but I hope it might bring a smiles to many and inspiration to some. My intention is to start up a few conversations, swap stories etc. but I really want for this to be up beat and with as much humor as possible as we all need to have a good laugh sometimes to help us get through the days (and nights). If I were you I would put his clothes in a black bin back and tell him to F off - but I'm not you and it sounds like you have a lot of things you need to talk about with someone. Relate won't be any good for you but maybe if you ask your doctor he could find you a suitable councilor. You have a lot to deal with and I wouldn't have thought you would get what you need from the forum. On the other hand, why don't you get in that camper van and drive and drive and drive. You might have a great adventure and your OH might realise what a P he is, either way it's got to be better than where you are now. And it looks like one of the others who have replied to you might even go with you. You could be Thelma and Louise and report back on here the adventures you get up to. I would SO LOVE to read about that! Good luck and while I would say your OH maybe needs an opportunity to sort himself out, I would also say he needs a kick up the proverbial! Much love Josi

Hello Ladies, I was just wondering if many of you out there are living without reconstruction or considering not having reconstruction. If not yourself, maybe you know somebody who has opted to have mastectomy but no reconstruction, preferring to live breast free? The reason I ask is that I made this choice for myself and have absolutely no regrets and wanted to promote the benefits of living after breast cancer treatment without breasts. I have looked for more people having chosen not to have reconstruction but though they are obviously out there, there doesn't seem to be very many of them. I don't know if this si because they have moved on and don't bother with these web sites or forums anymore or if there are just so few of them and I'd be talking to myself?! If you would like to know more or you know others who would be interested in my experiences, I'd really love to hear from you, either via this forum or private message (which I assume is possible from this web site) Thank you in advance. My response may be a bit late if you have seen your consultant but .....
It's such a personal decision but I would listen closely to the ladies at the bottom of these replies who talk about not having recon and waiting for a while. I was ABSOLUTELY determined that I would have reconstruction and I wanted it at the same time as my mastectomy but my doctors wouldn't agree to it as they felt it was too much after all the chemo. I had the first mastectomy (by choice, I was offered a lumpectomy) and I hated every moment of being lop sided and couldn't wait to have my second mastectomy (again elective) and to get on with reconstruction. Again, my doctors wouldn't do recon straight away and wanted me to get to a better level of fitness first. Thank goodness they did! I cannot tell you how differently I felt when I was completely flat chested. The freedom and comfort for one thing and the quick recovery. I know I can have recon whenever I ask for it but it's been 3 years now and I have no regrets at all and I cannot imagine wanting to go through reconstruction. So, I would say wait and see how you feel. As I said it's a very personal decision and a lot can depend on those around you and how confident they make you fee. BUT do what YOU want and do. And do it for YOU. Good luck x
