Morning again Bumpkin, there are extra long picky uppys available too if you are tall. Have seen the sock and shoe aids too. I shall have to get one too, OH helps me with my long woolly socks cos of mobility problems. Would a pulley help, they attach to the headboard? Or I think you can get an actual, almost bolster thing. Hi all, Jo I feel light headed, spaced out on this chemo. Before chemo my mobility was ok, I used one crutch outside the house but didn't need it inside. But since chemo and especially after steroids wear off I'm hobbling on two crutches. I hope you will find all these side effects will all be worthwhile. Hi imac, it sounds as though you are doing really, really well at the moment, talk of healing bones and they can be painful, no appointments for three months, that is good, great news. Who knows what's round the corner treatment wise too? So much has happened with treatments since my diagnosis, some are living much longer, treatments seem to be more targeted, tailored to the individual.Take care, hope the talk with the nurse is helpful. How are you all fellow Eribuliners? I missed chemo last week as low whites but had the end of cycle 2 this Thursday. Not sure it's doing much, my (visible) primary is unchanged, but we shall see, one more cycle before I get to know whether I can continue with it. On the plus side I was getting more bone pain before starting this one and that has stopped so who knows. Some get fabulous results from this chemo, I hope all those on it, or about to start it, (have you a start date yet Ellie?) have a roaring success with it.  Is anyone watching I'm a celebrity, get me out of here? I love a diversion and this has come along with perfect timing. All the Christmas books I was going to read in the run up to Christmas are going unread. Oh but I have found all our Mog books again after seeing the Sainsbury's ad. I think it's better than the John Lewis ad this year. Enough of my chatter, stay warm, take care all. XXXX ... View more

Hi sarn I would have thought if you had a new tumour it would have been highlighted on your last scan? Understand it must be unsettling, but it seems unlikely it would pop up so quickly.  In your shoes I would mention it next chemo but hopefully you can be reassured all is well. Great to hear Eribulin is working well for you, I've just completed cycle 2. Hope it's working well for me as if not it will pulled after cycle 3. Hi imac, I was diagnosed with bone mets twelve years ago. You can live a long time with bone mets but I have never met anyone with secondaries who was later declared cured. I had years of stability but both my Onc and I know I will die from my secondaries and now, after many years of feeling well, (I have never had a break from treatment) I certainly am frailer. During my treatments my bones healed and strengthened (and healing bones can be very painful so pain is not always a bad sign) but the BC remains and eventually treatments fail. Although I have had treatments which worked well for years. And after a longish gap I have returned to a couple of treatments and had some success with them again. So I really hope this post is not all gloom. There have been treatments introduced since my diagnosis, including the chemo I'm taking at the moment. It takes a while to get your head around the uncertainty but we all go forward, all of us and we adjust in our own unique way. Chocolates is right, live your life and celebrate the good times of stability. I wasn't a caught early girl, I was diagnosed with BC and mets when my hip spontaneously fractured. I would have never expected to still be here twelve years later. I don't look too far ahead, try and live in the now, mind you it took me a while! Good Luck. x ... View more

Hi all, I keep losing this thread. I posted earlier down the thread. I was diagnosed with BC and mets together twelve years ago. Developed sudden, severe heart failure, cardiomyopathy two years next April. LVEF of 23, swollen legs, in wheelchair. Was given very little hope anything would improve things. Well as my LVEF read 54 a couple of months ago and amazingly showed muscle had all repaired, was of normal appearance I'm losing my heart failure nurse as I'm far too well. So posting to say things can change and significantly. I'm still on Bisoprolol and Ramipril. Have also had two different courses of chemotherapies, kinder to heart, during this recovery time. Hi, I've had various rads and without exception the pain went but not before feeling, at first, worse. It's very early days if you had the blast on Friday, you should find it goes as suddenly as it came on. Might be a couple more days, I think my symptoms were usually 4 days ish. ... View more

Thank you Smartie, sorry I don't know about how long a gap. Lots take it in fits and starts don't they so it may not be too soon as it's two years for you next year. Just to add it had failed for me after working well so it wasn't still working when I stopped it but still might be useful. Also are you er+? I don't think hormonals would do much for me now but I took Arimidex for a second time a couple of years ago and got a further 18 months with it. Good luck with your new treatment. X ... View more

Hi Smartie, good luck with your chemo whichever you choose. I have had Capecitabine, Doxorubicin, Paclitaxol and have just started Eribulin. I also have all the transfusions along the way too. How did you get on with Capecitabine? I ask as I was told it might be possible to return to it. I had great results from Doxorubicin but a year later I developed serious heart failure so do make sure you are well monitored throughout. I had no idea but it's a chemo which is known to be a risk but most patients are absolutely fine, I was one of the unlucky few. I have now fully recovered from heart failure. Take Care. ... Dear Bumpkin, I had wondered about the dreadful pain you were having before your appointment. I hope the Oxynorm is helping some what. If these forums and those who use them only deal with good news the forums are not really much use at all.
