Hi to you all. My mum has breast to bone cancer and we feel that it might just be time after 2 years to find the best breast to bone oncologist as that's what she deserves. Do any of you know maybe whom I can't get in touch with or find a way of knowing who to search for . Wishing you all well and pain free xxx

This is what I found and Zometa means a hospital treatment so they told my father.
7 You must not have been waiting for medical treatment as a hospital patient or have been under investigation for an undiagnosed condition when your policy was issued or at the date your travel tickets were bought (whichever is later).

I just want to add something about eurotunnel insurance. My mother whom was DX with secondary cancer 9 months ago tried for a policy with eurotunnel my father read every word on the small print and they will not cover you if you are having on going hospital treatment. For example my mother has a zometa infusion once every 2 months which means even if her Onc tells her she is fit to travel she will not be covered due to the zometa. My parents now travel with a standard insurance policy with no cover for breast cancer. Hope you all enjoy your hols.

Nicky08 My mother took out the eurotunnel policy. She did explain to me if you have ongoing treatments in hospital you will not be covered for that pre excisting condition, so Im guessing if a woman like my mother is on a monthly zometa infusion she will not be covered for anything related to her breast cancer.

Lizcat....do you think denosumab is a better choice than zometa? And is it available on the NHS? What I have heard about it is it does not cause jaw bone problems and is given by injection rather than infusion. Many insurances company's class zometa as a hospital treatment and therefor travel insurance would not cover you. I was thinking maybe this denosumab is not classed as a hospital treatment if its just an injection and so this way travel insurance would cover.

Has anyone heard of DNA testing that they do in the states to determine how a women with breast cancer would respond to the treatment offered to her. A friend of my mothers who lives in Israel said there was a programme on this but I cannot find any info.

My mum had her zometa infusion on Wednesday and last night her face started to swell so my dad took her to A&E. They put her on 2 types of antibiotic. Since she started taking it the swelling is getting worse. Has anyone else experienced this before. I hope all you girls are feeling ok and thank you for all the advice you have given us in the past.

Hi all
My mother was DX 3 months ago and was given a zometa infusion once a month. She saw her oncologist last week who told her after the next infusion she will only need it every 2-3 months. I have been reading a lot of posts on zometa and it seems like in most cases when on Arimedex (which my mother is on) most ladies have it every month.
Would anyone out there have some knowledge why she would need it less frequently?

Would any of you know or remember your first check up with oncologist if you were scanned or not. My mum had her first 3 month check today and if it was not for her blood test done earlier that day done for her zometa and the results updated on her file her oncologist would have no blood results or scan , the only thing he could have gone by would be her breast lump which thankfully he said it was a lot softer. My mum is on anatrozole and zometa. She gets very tired and her oncologist puts this down to her illness. He has recommended her to take a calcium and vit.D supplement , anyone know of which ones may be the better ones to buy?
Lastly just a reminder if any of you need travel insurance get in touch with eurotunnel as they offer insurance for anyone with a illness without the high premiums , just remember you will need to get an OK from your doctor/ oncologist to say that you are fit for travel.

My mum who was DX 4 months ago with bone mets had similar pain to yours. She would get muscle spasms from her middle to lower back and down her legs which just crippled her.She was scarred to make certain movements so walked around like a soldier. One evening she could not make it to the toilet because of the pain so we had to call an ambulance to take her to A&E and there she was given co dramol which she took together with ibuprofen which seemed to ease the pain. Since then she had some rads done on her L4 which seems to have eased the pain for her , she can now sit on a chair without any discomfort. I'm sorry you are going through this and I hope they sort your pain out once they have the scan results . Keep taking the pills to ease the pain.

Try eurotunnel insurance , they do worldwide medical insurance cover and if your doctor will issue you with a letter saying your fit for travel they will only charge you what anyone would pay your age for travel insurance.

Euro tunnel do their own insurance and if you have a letter from your doctor that you are fit to travel they do not charge you a premium on top of your standard quote.They do worldwide travel, not just the tunnel .

HI girls
I was speaking to my mums friend who had a lump in her breast and was seen to by a private onc who so happens to be my mums onc but under the NHS. My mothers friend had a op to remover her lump and was then told by her onc to start taking Arimedex to which she refused saying she was to young for that ( she is in her early 60's) , and told him to prescribe her tamoxefen to which he did! Meanwhile my mum who has secondaries to her bone is on Arimedex and is the same age as her friend. Would anyone know the difference when it comes to age , do you have to be older than 60 to be taking Arimedex, I don't undertand why she refused.
