Hi everyone ive just been diagnosed with secondary BC in my neck, I found a small lump and I was given an ultrasound and they took a biopsy straight away, although they did say it is very difficult to get a biopsy from neck lumps as they are in such an awkward place. I was told if they didn't get enough to determine what was going on they would operate under a general to get enough. Fortunately I didn't have to have that and last Thursday it was confirmed as secondary BC. I am now waiting for a CT scan to determine if and how far it has spread. My oncologist says there are lots of treatments to try, treign to remain calm and positive but it's all such a shock. I really think you need a second opinion as if you have a neck lump,you need to know what is going on and get a treatment plan in place. Insist!!! Xxx

Thank you still here I am hoping that you're right and there is something they can do for me. I have looked back at some of the node threads and noticed you have been here longer than most, hope I am as lucky as you. The waiting is always so awful, my mind is in overdrive and I've had myself dead and buried already and I'm not one for giving up but this has knocked me for 6. I think the fact they have said ALL my lymph nodes in my neck are affected has frightened me silly.

i am in shock I think, I had fat grafting 7 weeks ago and developed a pain in my sternum, Dr thought it was down to the fat he had injected into my cleavage, which made sense as I have been fit and healthy and regularly went to the gym and did a hard workout. However, the pain just wouldn't go and moved upwards, I then started having a feel around as I was getting a little worried and found a small lump in my neck. I was given an ultrasound and told that all the lymph nodes in my neck were enlarged, so a biopsy was taken. I got the results last Thursday - all my lymph nodes in my neck are infected, I've been told the cancer has gone right through them which has frightened me no end. They now think the pain in my chest may be lung mets or chest wall nodes infected, I am scheduled for a CT scan on Thursday but I've been told it's inoperable and very very serious. I am frightened that it may have gone to my brain and that I may be too late for any treatment. I. Just can't get my head around it, 6 weeks ago I was fighting fit and now I'm going to die. Has anyone else had all their neck nodes infected and gone on to receive treatment that helped?

I had fat grafting 7 weeks ago, the bruising was minimal and everything seemed fine, had the usual discomfort in the donor area but nothing major. 2 weeks on I developed pain in my sternum, shoulder and breast area which is severe and really getting me down, it is now 7 weeks since the fat grafting and I am still suffering! I just don't understand it, I am seeing my surgeon on Tuesday about it but am wondering if I am the only one this has happened to! The pain feels muscular but it's really impeding on my life. Prior to the fat grafting I was at the gym regularly, I now can't turn over in bed without being in severe pain. is anyone in the same boat?

Hi has anyone else had an Ld flap reconstruction on one side and gone on to have a strattice reconstruction on the other side? I had delayed Ld flap recon with Implant on my left side and have now had implant and strattice mesh on my right side. I am 6 weeks out of that surgery and they are pretty wonky at the minute. I'm wondering how much my strattice side will drop as it is not symmetrical or even with the other one at the bottom.

Hi I had a delayed LD flap recon with implant in November '14 and 3 weeks ago had a preventative mx with immediate recon with implant and strattice mesh. I would like to know (from anyone who has had the same ops) how good and even the end result is? At the moment I am seriously wonky which is worrying me slightly, despite my surgeon assuring me that things will settle. I have been told I will need fat grafting to theLD flap at the top and also at the side of the strattice recon. I am concerned that the bottom of the breasts aren't even.

I had an Mx in July 2013 followed by chemo and 15 sessions of radiotherapy. I finished RT in February 2014, and on 19 November 2014 I had an LD reconstruction with an implant as I don't have enough back fat. So far I have healed really well, have had no fluid retention and have got almost full movement back in my arm. I am delighted with the results to be honest, and am now waiting to get the other side sorted.

Hi Plant1979 I had an LD flap reconstruction 7 weeks ago. I couldn't have the tummy one as I have had a hysterectomy and a hernia repair. I had an MX in July 2013 followed by chemo then radiotherapy. My surgeon gave me an implant with the LD flap as I don't have enough back fat. So far so good, and I am thrilled with the result. I have had lot's of exercises to do and my arm movements are almost back to full range. I have quite a lot of scar tissue though from my 32 lumpectomies them my MX but it is loosening up with massaging it. If you have any questions PM me

Surgery all done spent 5 days in hospital resting and home now. Feeling a tad uncomfortable as everything is swollen and tight. Must say sleeping is awkward and the back muscle twitching in my chest when I sit down is a little wierd! Loving the look of the new boob though and keeping my fingers crossed that I'm not gonna have any dramas! Would like to fast forward a couple of weeks though!

Ooh just catching up with this thread! Artemis good to hear that you are getting on ok despite the pesky seroma! I am starting to have a bit of a twitch about things as my op gets ever closer!! I am active too and not lookjing forward to going "back to the beginning" surgery wise, but I am desperate to have 2 boobs again and a cleavage!!!! I just hope the implant doesn't give me any grief! Unfortunately my surgeon won't do them both at the same time so I have to have yet another op to balance the two - but hey ho! How did you manage to sleep straight after? I imagine getting comfy won't be easy with the back wound? Keep us posted, hope your seroma has gone down - I had one when I had my MX I found reflexology really helped as they massaged the lymph system to get things flowing!! I was a real sceptic on that sort of stuff but it really worked!

Hi all, I am scheduled to have a delayed LD flap recon with an implant on 19 November, I have had RT but the surgeon doesn't seem to think there's a problem in having an implant! I am feeling apprehensive but excited too! Other Breast is coming off at a later date with immediate reconstruction with strattice mesh and implant, my choice as a preventatve measure! Would like to compare notes with you all if that's ok xx

Just dropping in to say don't go mad on Annabandana!! I bought loads of stuff from there and didn't wear any of it lol! I know lots of other peeps who did the same! These are the things I found REALLY useful and would recommend you get (btw having cancer is frigging expensive!!) Xylotene (google it) for your mouth - it's brill I cleaned my teeth with it and got no ulcers, thrush or tooth pain. Ginger biscuites and Green Bottle lemongrass and ginger cordial Pineapple to make pineapple ice lollies A juicer ( keep your immune system boosted) Antibacterial hand gel make everyone use it and take it everywhere in your handbag Peptobismel A digital thermometer Anusol ( I got piles with the constipation!) A wig Black nail varnish for when you have Docetaxel A heat pad Drink LOTS of water I had reflexology throughout chemo which was lovely and I had my eyebrows tattooed before I started chemo which was the best thing ever as I never looked Ill when I had my wig on! Remember you aren't going to feel ill the whole time! The first week you may feel a bit under the weather but make the most of the second and third week! I still went out and met up with friends and made the most of the good weeks. Do something nice when you feel normal! Hope this helps xxxx
