Thanks for your post Debs. I guess I know Avastin wont work forever but as it appears to be working (ie actually improving things rather the just keeping me stable)I want to keep going! I can understand you wanting a break from chemo - lets hope the avastin keeps things at bay or you. Thanks for offering to help.

Haven't posted on here for a while (really couldnt handle the format) but having suferd for a while am now ready to post. My avastin funding expires at the end of the month - avastin and hormonals appear to still be working as my last scan had shown further improvment. Do i fight for NHS funding - sure it wouldnt come through - though if i ived in Wales I would get it... I certainly cant pay! Guess I just want some reassurance that about non avastin treatment,,,,

Keep trying to find the right bolod pressure pills with your GP - they tend to start you on the cheaper ones (prescribing guidelines I have found the ones, at the right dose) which work for me. I am sure you will do to.

The Royal Marsden copy you in any letters to your GP (if you want them) - this has been really good as its often a few days later when you want to confirm what you have heard! Ask you onc. what they do - but you should be able to read your notes.

Hi Anne - Happy New Year. Do you really have to have more chemo? I can't imagine what that is doing to you. Is there no way your onc. can really reduce the dose or persuade your insurance company to change their mind. It must be really tough to be on your own perhaps once the divorce and finacial stuff is over you'll feel better?

Fingers crossed for you - there are so many bugs going round that hopefully this is nothing more that an infection. If it's more sinister then at least you are getting seen to fast and they can start whatever they need to do. Skelts - we all have highs and lows - my greatest low has come after chemo finished (even worse than after diagnosis), for me I think it was the sense of protection of trips to the hospital ending - feeling I was much more alone. This sense of loneliness and the acute fatigue really knocked me. Time, sleeping tablets and some counselling really helped me.

Just a quickie - save me searching other categories! Over the last few days (maybe a week or two) I am having some real pain when I stretch my left arm (surgery side two years ago). It feels like there is a tight cord running down from my elbow - is this cording? If yes - what causes it, why two years post surgery, and what can I do about it? If no - do you have any ideas what it could be?

I have mine without any pain relief. At my practice only the partners will do it - I have had a real mix of experiences from really to painful, massive bruising, to no mark at all and hardly feeling it. All of my doctors have said they have to do it quick and hold the flesh taught. I cannot bring myself to look at the needle!
I will ask about Emla cream next time!
With regard to getting appointments - the first time I made a fuss about not being able to book 28 days in advance - now as soon as I have one injection i book the next on the way out. Saves both me and the receptionist grief even though it's "against our policy".

Hi there Ariadne - I have high blood pressure thanks to avastin. It's very controllable with medication, but you do need to have it checked regularly. I am not allowed my 3 weekly avastin until it's been checked.
